Her family brought her so much grief, but she carried on through it all

That's a nice way of thinking about it. Difficult times and although I'd not vote for either to hold their position we've all got to hope they do well.

It is strange how so often people die after a significant event, if she hadn't been able to oversee the change in PM and the energy announcement hadn't happened this morning it would have left the whole country in limbo for another couple of weeks. Wonder if that happening was a weight off her shoulders.

I don't think you have to like or approve of either to still think that it is important for the country for them both to support each other and help each other for the benefit of the country itself.

Veeragall · 08/09/2022 19:30

It feels wrong to say anything negative, but I felt that Liz Truss's speech failed to capture the emotion so many of us feel. I could say more, but it feels inappropriate.

HangingOver · 08/09/2022 19:30

Poor Huw it was due at 6 then clearly halted at last minute he coped so well

He's great. I was watching Harry's plane on Flight Radar....they announced it pretty much the second the plane landed in Aberdeen...not sure if that was deliberate but most things to do with the crown do seem to be deliberate.

maiafawnly · 08/09/2022 19:31

Im no Boris fan, but his statement was lovely and heartfelt

the80sweregreat · 08/09/2022 19:31

Boris Johnson had to get his pennys worth in!
The Queen was a legend.

the80sweregreat · 08/09/2022 19:23

Liz Truss does speak very precisely.

It's one time you don't want to mess up!

Snowiscold · 08/09/2022 19:32

Westfacing · 08/09/2022 19:20

She did - I was surprised but she did say it!

She didn’t. She said Charles III.

the80sweregreat · 08/09/2022 19:32

No, Liz did well there
Baptism of fire 🔥 for her this week '

Veeragall · 08/09/2022 19:32

I'm not a Johnson fan, and I'm glad he's gone, but his speech perfectly captured what the Queen meant to us.

SquirrelSoShiny · 08/09/2022 19:32

Lovetok · 08/09/2022 19:30

ODFOD Boris. Nobody wants to hear from you.

Agreed. Everything has to be about Boris even the death of the Queen 🙄 He's an absolute twat.

I'm not even a Liz Truss fan but I liked her speech better.

girlmom21 · 08/09/2022 19:33

I was waiting for Truss to say something really fucking stupid or insensitive. I'm so glad she didn't. Thank god it wasn't Boris making that statement.

He was surprisingly right though.

Saying that many of us are sadder than we thought we would be. Surprisingly good.

mynameischloe · 08/09/2022 19:33

She didn't. She said King Charles the third.

Those that are saying she did, at what moment?

YoniWheretheSunDontShine · 08/09/2022 19:33

I.missed brois? Statement or live

Can we have thread 3

Mummyoflittledragon · 08/09/2022 19:33

I agree that BJ tribute was incredibly powerful. It’s a shame he couldn’t have been a better PM.

Antarcticant · 08/09/2022 19:33

It will be strange at Christmas. 'The King's Speech' is a Colin Firth film so far as people born after 1952 are concerned.

So true

warriorathena · 08/09/2022 19:34

How fitting her last official photo was welcoming in the new Prime Minister-she served this country right until the very end, as she promised all those years ago.

She looked so lovely in that photo.

Lovethesun100 · 08/09/2022 19:34

I liked Boris's tribute to the Queen, heartfelt

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 08/09/2022 19:34

I think between Liz and Boris they did well actually. Probably better being delivered by Huw than Boris.

the80sweregreat · 08/09/2022 19:34

Boris Johnson's tribute was good

brookstar · 08/09/2022 19:35

He writes far better than he speaks.

the80sweregreat · 08/09/2022 19:35

Worked up till the last.
She did her duty

SquirrelSoShiny · 08/09/2022 19:35

Boris could have learned a lot from the Queen. He partied while she mourned the death of her husband sitting alone.
