I can't believe how upset I feel
It triggers so much emotion.

See dying on a Thursday works well from the point of a funeral. Long weekend for some and almost just easier in terms of lack of disruption to business.

Well timed.

Tierne · 08/09/2022 19:15

So can I quietly ask... When will the funeral be? I'd like to go down to London for it

In 10 days I think

She didn’t.

She did - I was surprised but she did say it!

LemonsOnSaleAgain · 08/09/2022 19:21

I also saw a procession of at least 10 swans at my local river today and I had to stop and stare because I had never seen that many at once. It felt like they were there for a big reason. It would have been no more than a couple of hours before or after her death.

And a rainbow over Windsor Castle too. Flowers

minou123 · 08/09/2022 19:12

I fully agree.

Short, undramatic, factual and respectful.
Thank god for that.

Totally agree. I think she spoke well and with dignity.

.... Yes she did. 100%

No, her normal state education shines through.
We go on about class on Mumsnet , but it really does define someone.
Still, it's been an odd week for her too , one of the last people to see her alive !
It must feel surreal.

Her and Charles have something that immediately binds them together somehow as they are both starting their new role and responsibilities at the same time.

I hope it will help them both in a way.

the80sweregreat · 08/09/2022 19:23

Liz Truss does speak very precisely.

Festoonlights · 08/09/2022 19:23

Many years ago I was told by someone that worked for the RF, that the news would always be delayed, and dripped in to prepare people properly - and to give the family and aides a chance to organise things without the pressure. It looks like that is exactly what happened.

Yes.

Festoonlights · 08/09/2022 19:24

I didn't think they could do that in today's world with instant messaging and SM, but it looks like the protocol held out - and for that I am so glad for her.

A state funeral. Not had one of those in decades. It'll be so strange.

Aquarius1234 · 08/09/2022 19:25

Liz Truss? seemed like a moody headteacher.

the80sweregreat · 08/09/2022 19:26

I've often criticized the Royals , but not the Queen. I feel we will be poorer without her

The Ed Sheeran jubilee performance of "Perfect" with the montage of the queen:

Thank you for sharing that. It is so beautiful. ❤️

That's a nice way of thinking about it. Difficult times and although I'd not vote for either to hold their position we've all got to hope they do well.

It is strange how so often people die after a significant event, if she hadn't been able to oversee the change in PM and the energy announcement hadn't happened this morning it would have left the whole country in limbo for another couple of weeks. Wonder if that happening was a weight off her shoulders.

girlmom21 · 08/09/2022 19:28

I'm an fucking devastated. I've just sat watching the news absolutely bawling. RIP ma'am 💔

There’s always a delay as well because they have to inform the wider family and all of the commonwealth leaders and the likes.

Burpeea · 08/09/2022 19:28

@Festoonlights those of us in the know via our media family were laughed at on here and ridiculed. They knew for several hours, very hard to keep it quiet and so many leaks. Poor Huw it was due at 6 then clearly halted at last minute he coped so well. Sir Huw I should think.

Festoonlights · 08/09/2022 19:28

The most iconic legend of our time.

There is no one that can compare to her, and now she immortal.

Me too! We just toasted her with some wine.
I don't know why I feel so wrecked tbh!

Wouldloveanother · 08/09/2022 19:29

It just feels like our country has gone through so much over the last 10 years, and although I’m usually the type to be happy to move forwards and see change as a good thing, I don’t like the direction we’re going in. Losing the Queen just makes it feel like we’ve lost another pillar of stability, along with respectful politics and the European Union.

Aquarius1234 · 08/09/2022 19:29

Yes everyone else is a joke in the royal family.

Lovetok · 08/09/2022 19:30
