God rest her soul, we could not have asked anything more of her, she died as she lived with total dignity and grace.

DH is gleeful, he's very anti-monarchy.

Gleeful at the death of another human being, a woman who devoted her entire life to the service of this country? Vile.

brookstar · 08/09/2022 19:02

DH is gleeful

Disgusting

DH is gleeful
im lost for words , you might not like the royals but to be gleeful is just.... well

Exactly, imagine being gleeful over the death of a person who spent their entire life serving their country. Whether you agree with the role or not, that comment is outright disgusting.

Festoonlights · 08/09/2022 19:03

I am not sure I am ready to hear from King Charles. I feel like we need more time to process the news.

What a woman. I’m very emotional this evening. I hope, wherever they are, Her Majesty and Prince Philip are back together again 🖤

BBC are say8ng William and Kate will now be known as the duke and duchess of Cornwall. So guess they just drop the “Cambridge” title?

They might very well be Cornwall & Cambridge.

Edward V was the Duke of Cornwall & York when he took the Cornwall title.

Mogloveseggs · 08/09/2022 19:04

I feel very sad.
Rip your majesty.
The Paddington pic made me cry.

EbbyEbs · 08/09/2022 19:05

“DH is gleeful”

has your DH always been a bit of a cunt?

diddl · 08/09/2022 19:05

I'm wondering if it was relatively sudden if only Charles & Anne were at Balmoral?

Well, obviously it's not entirely unexpected given her age, but obviously a blow for the family coming so soon after the death of Philip.

JustLyra · 08/09/2022 19:05

RedToothBrush · 08/09/2022 19:02

William, Prince of Wales...

Thats going to take some getting used to as well.

He’s not Prince of Wales yet.

that’s not an automatic title. Only the Cornwall one is.

He might yet take another name. Charles is not thought to be a good name for British Kings. There is talk he will use another name.

Rinoachicken · 08/09/2022 19:05

I’m sure Huw just referred to Camilla as ‘queen consort the duchess of Cornwall’, if that’s the case then Kate can’t also be the duchess of Cornwall. Hopefully it will all be clarified soon

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 08/09/2022 19:05

DH is gleeful

Doesn't he sound lovely. Right prince you have there. And frankly you aren't much better posting that.

BreadInCaptivity · 08/09/2022 19:06

RIP Queen ElizabethFlowers

He won’t be Prince of Wales, necessarily. It’s not an inherited title. It could be someone different.

Yeah, I told him to stop being a dick.
He's lost his radio shows for the rest of the day anyway so that'll teach him.

I did well up a little, especially with the rainbows.

Well he needs to read the bbc website then which says William and Kate take the Cornwall title immediately.

He’s just lost his Mum. If he can bear to speak, I’d say we can bear to hear it.

I’m really sad actually. I’m a lifelong republican, but it feels like yet another chapter has closed, and not in a good way. RIP.

As a republican I feel the same way. I'm in Australia and it's 4:06 am Friday morning. I wasn't going to get any sleep anyway. It's just a shock. The world feels different. May she rest in peace. Flowers

I wonder if George, Charlotte and Louis will be at school tomorrow

He just got himself in a muddle - just trying to be clear who he’s talking about. He keeps saying “the King… Charles” as well.

there can be two Duchesses, but Camilla can’t be Duchess of Cornwall in this situation as her husband is not the Duke, nor has he died as Duke.

Sounds like it.

It also might explain why Megan was going to go to Balmoral and then there was a change of plan.

Nothing against her, but simply circumstances changed.

I think her at least having two children there is nice.

It does sound like it was quick although Charles has been visiting her daily over the summer.

friendlycat · 08/09/2022 19:08

She served all her life with great dignity and grace. She has been a constant in our lives. RIP Your Majesty. Your work is done and you served your country in a remarkable way. We will miss you.
