This is Liz's first big moment and speech. 2 days into the job. As if she hasn't inherited enough of a shit storm.

BitossiBlues · 08/09/2022 18:46

There's a rainbow over Windsor Castle. Think that's just tipped me over the edge 😪

Oh I saw that how amazing

Lovelycupofcoffee · 08/09/2022 19:09

Very sad 😢

QuebecBagnet · 08/09/2022 19:09

Liz truss wasn’t expecting to be chucked in at the deep end like this on day 3 (4?) in the job.

minou123 · 08/09/2022 19:09

Just in case anyone is not watching, Liz Truss is giving her statement

Tierne · 08/09/2022 19:09

Why isnt Charles thought to be a good name?

greenhousegal · 08/09/2022 19:10

Liz Truss making a statement outside no. 10. She did look like a rabbit caught in the headlights when she first stood at the lectern.

No matter what you think of LT that is a tough gig on your second day in office.

stillherenow · 08/09/2022 19:10

Truss's undramatic presenting style is good for this. I'm so glad Boris has gone

Maggiethecat · 08/09/2022 19:10

Age and wisdom have given Liz an appreciation of the Queen it seems (she now regards her as an inspiration).

Maireas · 08/09/2022 19:10

Tierne · 08/09/2022 19:09

Why isnt Charles thought to be a good name?

Because of the first two, I'm guessing.
But that was a long time ago.

RedToothBrush · 08/09/2022 19:11

Charles didn't sign the statement with a name or title.

Tierne · 08/09/2022 19:11

Never thought I would miss boris and I dont, but I think his speech would have been better than this lustless drone

FetlocksBlowingInTheWind · 08/09/2022 19:11

@Emotionalsupportviper

Glad you liked it. I listened to it earlier and found it comforting

mateysmum · 08/09/2022 18:51

The Queen too has passed over the Rainbow Bridge. I reckon the corgis laid it on for her!

And her beloved fell ponies
Bet Philip is waiting there for her though, with a double G&T
It's like the sky has fallen in

Rinoachicken · 08/09/2022 19:11

King Charles 3rd it is then

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 08/09/2022 19:11

So weird hearing Liz say - God save the king

PicturesOfDogs · 08/09/2022 19:12

Confirmed will be King Charles III.

minou123 · 08/09/2022 19:12

stillherenow · 08/09/2022 19:10

I fully agree.

Short, undramatic, factual and respectful.
Thank god for that.

She started off a bit hoarse and abrupt didn't she

RedToothBrush · 08/09/2022 19:12

Tierne · 08/09/2022 19:09

Why isnt Charles thought to be a good name?

It's associated with the Republican era.

But he has just been confirmed at Charles III BBC have said

Festoonlights · 08/09/2022 19:12

God save the King ? I can't take this in..

He might yet take another name. Charles is not thought to be a good name for British Kings. There is talk he will use another name.

Was just discussing this with DD. I thought he may become King George VII as the other King Charleses didn't fare too well, but they've announced he'll be Charles III

JustLyra · 08/09/2022 19:12

King Charles III

surprised that it was Liz Truss that broke that one rather than the proclamation tomorrow

Not surprised in the choice though. The royals are too well known by their names now because of social media and television to switch from Prince a Charles to King George imo

PicturesOfDogs · 08/09/2022 19:13

I think she did well.
What a baptism of fire

Tierne · 08/09/2022 19:13

I think you can be pared back but engaging, I just think shes a really bad speaker. That's not her fault though.
