The Queen is under 'medical supervision'

The Queen is under medical supervision at Balmoral after doctors became concerned for her health, Buckingham Palace says.

"Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen's doctors are concerned for Her Majesty's health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision," they said in a statement.

"The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral."

Her immediate family has been informed.

The announcement comes after the Queen, 96, pulled out of a virtual Privy Council on Wednesday, with doctors advising her to rest.

Breaking news BBC

We very much hope she is okay, it made me feel sad to read this. I think the line her immediate family have been informed was a worrying line.

I think she didn't return from her normal summer break up there

She’s usually there till October, and has made no secret over the years that it’s her favourite place

PremiumPiglet · 08/09/2022 13:20

Flying William there is all about monarch and succession as allegedly he is not her favourite grandchild by some way.

I don't understand how anyone can 'be sad' about a stranger so distant they may as well be a character in a book.

She's not distant to me, she's been there my whole life, with dignity & grace.

OurChristmasMiracle · 08/09/2022 13:20

It will be a sad but unsurprisingly announcement when the queen does pass and I do believe that currently she is still alive but the headlines suggest these may well be her final days.

her majesty has had a long life- one which she shared for many decades with her husband and has truly left a mark in history. She will be missed by many.

may her journey be peaceful and may she be surrounded by those she loves.

I admire her fortitude. During covid she at least recognised she was a leading figure and spoke to her nation. With more integrity than our politicians.

She only spoke to the nation after lots of complaints.

It seems a bit off that there's a live feed on the BBC news website about it

What, the biggest news in the world today? They're literally there for clicks, they're not going to miss the chance for an avalanche of page views.

JaneBrownings · 08/09/2022 13:21

If I ever read someone has 'had a good innings' I will scream!

My father lived to his 90s and his death was still painful to watch and a shock.

It makes no difference if someone is very old.

You don't as a child find it any easier to lose a parent.

I accept that dying young is a tragedy, byt dying as an old person is still traumatic for the family partly because you have seen them go on and on, and keep thinking they are immortal.

Well as someone who is sat here beside my mother who is dying, I have nothing but sympathy for them all.

Flowers sending you strength and peace.

SurpriseSurprise · 08/09/2022 13:22

I really hope the speculation is wrong

@NovaDeltas There are always people who act as if a member of the Royal Family is a personal friend or relative.

With the best will in the world, it won't be a massive shock though will it?

To you and I, it isn't a massive shock.

But, let's say, there was no press about the Queen's medical condition. And then suddenly they announce she had passed away. I believe, for a lot of people that would be a massive shock.

Whereas, by drip feeding her serious medical condition, they are preparing us for the impending announcement.

JustlookingNotbuying · 08/09/2022 13:22

the80sweregreat Same here, I’ve had a few bereavements recently and this just highlights everything for me, tops a throughly shit couple of years. Oh and totally agree with you about the 80’s, would go back in a heartbeat!

Freedomfighters · 08/09/2022 13:22

She's not distant to me, she's been there my whole life, with dignity & grace.

Same. Of course it's inevitable but I will be sad when she gone.

TurquoiseDress · 08/09/2022 13:22

I like the Queen and have great respect for her (not so much the other family members)

This is sad however you look at it

She's 96 years old and has a good innings indeed

With her husband passing away last year, I'm sure this has had a massive impact on her and her health

I'd also say that if anyone comes to this thread to vent their spleen about a woman who appears to be dying...please bugger off.

This is not the time or the place.

So sorry.

As someone who lost their DM last year closely followed by MIL I do too.

YourLipsMyLipsApocalypse · 08/09/2022 13:04

Not really sure that's how death works...

I do to a degree, when people are old and it a natural death. How many long happily married couples die within a few months of each other? Or wait until the family have been able to see them before they go? I like to think it’s a massive fuck you to Boris!

dementedma · 08/09/2022 13:23

Feel very sad altough its inevitable as it is for us all. Admire her fortitude and sense of calm.
If she is leaving, she is in a place she loves and with family.
The call that "London Bridge has fallen" will be very sad

LuluBlakey1 · 08/09/2022 12:53

It is unusual for any statement to be made about HM The Queen's health. 'Concerned' is worrying as is saying close family members have been informed. However, she is at Balmoral, comfortable and resting so I think we should not be expecting the very worst.
Sky just saying William is on his way - so perhaps it is more worrying than I thought.
I'll be very sad if anything does happen to her.

Though, it might mean that there's not any point in her being transferred to hospital..? Where would you like to spend your final moments?

Leave her out of it.
She's had enough grief.

A relative was recalled from
holiday on Monday for urgent meeting regarding Queens health so not unexpected to see this

I’m in agreement with you. It doesn’t make much sense does it?
