The Queen is under 'medical supervision'

The Queen is under medical supervision at Balmoral after doctors became concerned for her health, Buckingham Palace says.

"Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen's doctors are concerned for Her Majesty's health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision," they said in a statement.

"The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral."

Her immediate family has been informed.

The announcement comes after the Queen, 96, pulled out of a virtual Privy Council on Wednesday, with doctors advising her to rest.

Breaking news BBC

We very much hope she is okay, it made me feel sad to read this. I think the line her immediate family have been informed was a worrying line.

I heard a couple if hours ago that she has already passed and there will be an announcement at 4pm. Councils have been informed.

If I were in Central London, I might be having a wander up Whitehall to see if preparations (eg cameras, lights, sound, rigging) are being made in Downing St for an announcement.

Or just watch the news.

KimberleyClark · 08/09/2022 15:17

I understand Buckingham Palace is not expected to say anything more at this stage. There is nothing imminent I am led to believe.

It'll be announced on TV, radio etc simultaneously around the world I believe, not from No10 or HoC

LookItsMeAgain · 08/09/2022 15:17

@EbbyEbs - I am picturing the Queen riding horseback but I don't know why, your post has made me laugh out loud!

Veeragall · 08/09/2022 15:17

@montysma1 that's rubbish, it really is.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 08/09/2022 15:18

Whether you like the royals or not, the Queens passing is an historical moment

Even as a republican I very much agree; it's perfectly possible to disagree with the institution while still understanding its significance

SunflowerOrange · 08/09/2022 15:19

Radio says there's still family to come. A flight from Northolt is due to arrive and then travel to Balmoral so will be over an hour I imagine?

Fupoffyagrasshole · 08/09/2022 15:19

The bbc is just shocking have the say she’s not even dead and they are standing outside frothing at the mouth waiting for her to die wtf

feels like really poor taste

watcherintherye · 08/09/2022 15:19

Those who think the monarchy is an irrelevance can have no sense of history.

Thanks @LadyKenya

Fun fact, I can see from the dropdown box when I chose your name to @ that there are five posters named 'Lady' on this thread. Which is quite appropriate.

This is all just part of the protocol that's been in planning for years, would you rather they ignored it?

Gosh, that's interesting. Although I'd guess the arrival of the entire Senior Tier might give an indication. They'll be sorting rooms, ensuring the favourite toothpastes etc are all laid out. The busyness, plus the arrival of the world's press at the gates may signify An Event. Rumours will be rife.

Yeah, quite possibly - Balmoral has a skeleton staff when she isn't in residence and staff from Windsor and BP go up on a rotation when she's in. Apparently they call it "immoral Balmoral" because of all the summer goings on between soldiers, coppers, housemaids, pages etc. So they'll have a good compliment of staff to do the private maiding for the visitors - everyone will be allocated someone that they have to look after for the duration.

I’m not great with words 😂 I’m sure it was only last year she was pictured riding a beautiful black horse. She’s 10 years older than my grandma and the thought of my grandma getting on a horse is absurd. I was amazed it it ❤️

It’s a non story @unicormb they are talking about nothing - just repeating she’s not well and her family are with Her

they could just announce when she’s dead 🤪

EmmaH2022 · 08/09/2022 15:22

Paulie "Apparently they call it "immoral Balmoral" because of all the summer goings on between soldiers, coppers, housemaids, pages etc."

such fun! Wish I'd applied.

mind you, most workplaces are like this in your 20s and 30s.

I don't understand how anyone can 'be sad' about a stranger so distant they may as well be a character in a book.

So you've never felt sad about strangers in the news, Sarah Everard, James Bulger, Miller Dowler, the numerous people and children who have been in the news over the years who have been killed?

LaddieCthulu · 08/09/2022 15:23

@tulips27 This made me laugh, even though it is a simple truth. I sincerely hope the royals have better things to do than scour MN.

123ZYX · 08/09/2022 15:23

The BBC haven't had a camera on in the studio since 2.40 - it's been on Balmoral or other reporters since then. Would they need to make changes in the studio if they were making an announcement that she had died?

christmas2022 · 08/09/2022 15:23

That tells us everything we need to know.

Huw just said in respect of the family members going to be with her.

It tells us something - concern is justified

bellabasset · 08/09/2022 15:23

We were rather shocked when we saw the Queen on Tuesday so am not surprised by this news. I was a young child when she came to the throne and can vaguely all the celebrations at school as well as the big family get togethers to watch the Coronation on a tiny TV. So many memories of family celebrations around RF events. So there will be a lot of sadness at her death.

Good lord, give the family some time first! They are human.

I love how Prince Charles says "mummy" at events.
