The Queen is under 'medical supervision'

The Queen is under medical supervision at Balmoral after doctors became concerned for her health, Buckingham Palace says.

"Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen's doctors are concerned for Her Majesty's health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision," they said in a statement.

"The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral."

Her immediate family has been informed.

The announcement comes after the Queen, 96, pulled out of a virtual Privy Council on Wednesday, with doctors advising her to rest.

Breaking news BBC

We very much hope she is okay, it made me feel sad to read this. I think the line her immediate family have been informed was a worrying line.

Yeah, quite possibly - Balmoral has a skeleton staff when she isn't in residence and staff from Windsor and BP go up on a rotation when she's in. Apparently they call it "immoral Balmoral" because of all the summer goings on between soldiers, coppers, housemaids, pages etc. So they'll have a good compliment of staff to do the private maiding for the visitors - everyone will be allocated someone that they have to look after for the duration.

So you've never felt sad about strangers in the news, Sarah Everard, James Bulger, Miller Dowler, the numerous people and children who have been in the news over the years who have been killed?

Or cried at the end of a book or film about entirely fictional people?

MaybeIWillFuckOffThen · 08/09/2022 15:25

Um, I think the horror of someone being brutally tortured and murdered is a bit different to affecting to be desolated by a very old lady who has had a good life passing away at home, surrounded by her family, with every possible medical care and comfort. Seriously using those names to make this point? What on earth is wrong with you?

Vapeyvapevape · 08/09/2022 15:25

I'm just thinking about the videos of her played at the jubilee when Ed Sheehan was singing.

LicoricePizza · 08/09/2022 15:26

unicormb · 08/09/2022 15:20

This is all just part of the protocol that's been in planning for years, would you rather they ignored it?

I agree @Fupoffyagrasshole

How is it protocol? Planning for her departure of course, how it is announced, who announces, etc etc but filming her estate gates while she’s dying is not protocol!

Yes, that was nice actually

Tierne · 08/09/2022 15:27

On sky news they are basically interviewing anyone vaguely connected to her

Lillith111 · 08/09/2022 15:28

@ItsJustLittleOlMe I think people are allowed to be upset, but to compare a smooth passing at the old age of 96 surrounded by family, to Sarah Everard who was brutally raped and murdered, is in very very poor taste. They are in no way shape or form the same level of devastating

the80sweregreat · 08/09/2022 15:26

Oh I didn't see it, what were those?

our Jubilee parties went on a lot longer than planned! I am sure the Queen would be pleased about that.

Vapeyvapevape · 08/09/2022 15:28

@Tierne please don't let them drag Lulu out.

Wearpantsffs · 08/09/2022 15:28

I hope she doesn’t cling on too long. This coverage could become tedious.

the80sweregreat · 08/09/2022 15:30

If they interview Lulu , I'm muting the tele!

Radio says there's still family to come. A flight from Northolt is due to arrive and then travel to Balmoral so will be over an hour I imagine?

Where is Northolt?

You could always stop watching it?

How about you just don't watch it then.

Veeragall · 08/09/2022 15:30

@Dinoteeth Northolt is in West London.

Sigma33 · 08/09/2022 15:31

Dinoteeth · 08/09/2022 15:30

Where is Northolt?

West London - near Ealing

Tierne · 08/09/2022 15:31

Do not invoke the spirit of Lulu!!!

stillherenow · 08/09/2022 15:31

Flight from Northolt going a right old pace and nearly at Aberdeen. Is this William?

EmmaH2022 · 08/09/2022 15:32

Right, stiff upper lip, must get on with some work. Le sigh.

PizzaFunghi · 08/09/2022 13:05

It's sad because she has been there, for most of us, our whole lives. And it's a reminder of the fact that things end, people close to us will die too, etc. It always makes me sad to watch funerals - even totally fictional ones on tv and the like - because of what it reminds me of: funerals I've been to, those that will be coming.

And it is another symbol of change, which we are going through a great deal of at the moment. People want some constants at a time like that, and so the Queen dying would represent yet another thing that is unpredictable and uncertain in our lives. Change might be good change, but it can still be upsetting.

Im surprised that her other children wouldn't also be going to Balmoral if it's serious, as well as some of her grandchildren.

This!

Dinoteeth · 08/09/2022 15:33

EbbyEbs · 08/09/2022 15:21

I’m not great with words 😂 I’m sure it was only last year she was pictured riding a beautiful black horse. She’s 10 years older than my grandma and the thought of my grandma getting on a horse is absurd. I was amazed it it ❤️

I remember that too. Can't remember who she was riding with but it's not that long ago.

BBC aren't having this amount of coverage for nothing.

LongDuckDong · 08/09/2022 15:33

The BBC have suspended the TV until 6pm. That says to me that she has gone and all the preparations are being put in place.

Wearpantsffs · 08/09/2022 15:33

BBC says 7 members of the royal house on board. Better not crash!!

soundsofthesixties · 08/09/2022 15:33

Another 7 members of the royal family are on their way.
