The Queen is under 'medical supervision'

The Queen is under medical supervision at Balmoral after doctors became concerned for her health, Buckingham Palace says.

"Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen's doctors are concerned for Her Majesty's health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision," they said in a statement.

"The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral."

Her immediate family has been informed.

The announcement comes after the Queen, 96, pulled out of a virtual Privy Council on Wednesday, with doctors advising her to rest.

Breaking news BBC

We very much hope she is okay, it made me feel sad to read this. I think the line her immediate family have been informed was a worrying line.

Why are people replying to Teacup like they aren't a troll?

LookItsMeAgain · 08/09/2022 13:00

Something I noticed is that on the hand she extended to Liz Truss, the back of her hand was heavily bruised. It was something that I remember from when my 80-something grandmother was poorly and in her last days, she bruised so easily.

I wonder if it's just a matter of time and that they are trying to get things in order before making the announcement??? I'm not wishing the woman dead but it may move more smoothly if Charles is up in Balmoral or if they want to move her to Sandringham (so not having to adhere to Scottish rules around mourning).

I think you'd be lucky to get away with just 2 days of national mourning here @PremiumPiglet . Her death will impact on many many countries as she is their head of state too.

Go and lie down. And put the sherry down.

Can the lunatics and Royal haters all fuck off please? You're entitled to your opinion but this isn't the place. Many people will be genuinely upset by this.

NovaDeltas · 08/09/2022 12:48

I don't understand how anyone can 'be sad' about a stranger so distant they may as well be a character in a book.

I feel like this too.
We don't need the Royal family. They may bring in income from tourism, but they cost loads and don't have a purpose. I'm sure some of them are nice enough but the amount of sycophantic drivel on social media is pathetic.
Ultimately, an elderly lady is in declining health. Sad to see but not anything unusual.

As an aside, why do people always daughter 'sadly died? Is there likely to be an occasion when someone has happily died?

IHateWasps · 08/09/2022 13:01

Because she is deeply admired and loved in this country and around the world maybe?

The death of an over privileged extremely elderly lady who upholds an outdated and harmful class system whom I don't know personally and few us do or the energy crisis or climate change. Which will have the biggest impact on your average person? Beats me.

Festoonlights · 08/09/2022 13:02

The use of the word comfortable is almost always used in the last days of life. I remember it well in the last days of FIL, MIL and BIL and all GPs. It was always that word. And yet death is not always comfortable is it.

And many people are allowed to think other things and say other things.

For me it brings back my own bereavements. Had too many lately.
It's just sad

Why is she at Balmoral? Such a long way for all the "VIPs" who need to visit . I didn't think it was a particularly favourite place of hers?

I think she didn't return from her normal summer break up there

anniegun · 08/09/2022 13:03

I think she was hanging on till Boris Johnson was gone! I doubt she wanted him to be the PM that handled her funeral and the change of monarch

Mercurial123 · 08/09/2022 13:03

Teacup7 makes the Queen a character from James Bond who needs to be stopped with their devious plans.....

She's 96 it has to happen sooner or later. She's led an incredibly privileged life with little knowledge of how normal people live.

I genuinely also considered this...

PAFMO · 08/09/2022 13:03

@LookItsMeAgain yes, I noticed what looked like bruising.

thenewduchessoflapland · 08/09/2022 13:04

She's a 96 and a half year old woman who's recently lost the man who's been by her side since she was 13 (they were friends at that age) and has had covid too;my otherwise healthy teenager had had a tough time recovering following covid so goodness knows what it's been like for people in their 90's.I wouldn't be surprised at that age if her health hasn't been suffering especially all she's been through of late.

If it's her time then so be it;she's had a wonderful reign and a big family.

The only downside is the crown being passed to her boring po faced son and his wife;I don't think they own a ounce of personality between them.

Not really sure that's how death works...

ListenLinda · 08/09/2022 13:04

PP, Balmoral was her favourite place.

With the family summoned, I don’t think it will be long now.
Everyone is getting prepared to activate London Bridge.

thebellagio · 08/09/2022 13:04

This very much does feel like the nation are being prepared for her death.

I always thought that after Philip passed, she would make it until the Jubilee but I didn't think she would make it till Christmas. She's 96, she's had an incredible life. I hope she's OK, and under the best care possible.

I also really hope that the rest of the grandchildren can go and visit her as well

Chakraleaf · 08/09/2022 13:04

Would be sad and a really awful time for the country too. 😢

jojogoesbust · 08/09/2022 13:04

I felt like we are being prepared when i saw the Buckingham Palace statement on FB. Remarkable lady.
I do hope she gets well, but she does look frail. Great age

Plumbear2 · 08/09/2022 13:05

I will feel sad. She has been a constant figure my whole life. She has been queen for the whole of my parents life. I've never met her but it will feel very strange without her.

Absolutely. And deraillers and conspiracy theorists should bear this in mind.

LuluBlakey1 · 08/09/2022 13:05

The BBC has moved i to an entirely different tone to usual stories - I wonder if they have been signalled that this is more serious than we yet know.
BBC reporting Charles is with her now.

Thank you Dr Teacup.

I hope you are right, but I think the family heading up to balmoral after actual Doctors have been attending her, is not a good dign

@Festoonlights it is indeed worrying news. I know she's 96 & I know the younger Royals are doing lots of the legwork, but her marbles are all in place and we need her! We need the stability.

and apart from that & what some posters think 🙄I DO care about her & I DO care about her family.

I do hope she's ok x

TheSpottedZebra · 08/09/2022 13:05

Clearly her death is very much imminent with the amount of official statements that are coming out. This is the pre arranged playbook, playing out. We are being prepared.

No black ties yet on BBC but they'll get changed soon I expect.

Where is Nicholas Witchell?
