The Queen is under 'medical supervision'

The Queen is under medical supervision at Balmoral after doctors became concerned for her health, Buckingham Palace says.

"Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen's doctors are concerned for Her Majesty's health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision," they said in a statement.

"The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral."

Her immediate family has been informed.

The announcement comes after the Queen, 96, pulled out of a virtual Privy Council on Wednesday, with doctors advising her to rest.

Breaking news BBC

We very much hope she is okay, it made me feel sad to read this. I think the line her immediate family have been informed was a worrying line.

Must have been a stressful night for William. One minute he is dropping his kids to their new school and having to smile for cameras, next he is on his way down to see his Granny urgently. Losing your mum young typically means your Granny is your close figure. Poor man. And now all the succession politics will follow.

Crikeyalmighty · 08/09/2022 13:13

As someone who lives in Windsor but is not really a monarchist - it's a very weird place to be at a time like this,

She's a stoic lady , much to admire, and I do think it will be a very sad day when she dies.

Flatmountains · 08/09/2022 13:13

At least the monarchy doesn't have much power, so a shift in monarch won't make a huge difference.

I don't understand how anyone can 'be sad' about a stranger so distant they may as well be a character in a book.

You must be totally heartless. This is not a debate, this is about a much loved mother and grandmother probably moving towards the end of her life.

As a human being, I would feel sad for anyone in that position, whether I knew them or not.

gatehouseoffleet · 08/09/2022 13:14

Plus there are people who know it’s one of the Princes first day at school

It was in the Times, and it was George, Charlotte and Louis all starting at their new school. Nothing odd about knowing that. I presume it was on the BBC and other news outlets too.

SnottyLottie · 08/09/2022 13:14

I don’t think I’m ready for this 😔

ladydoris · 08/09/2022 13:14

OMG. I love the queen so much, she is a true lady. She would have passed on well before we know I'm afraid/ I am sad. I hope she is still with us. She was a marvelous queen.

What a load of absolute bollocks. 🙄

She's an elderly lady and yes, it is likely her time or near it and that is very sad for her family.

Festoonlights · 08/09/2022 13:14

No wonder so many kids have anxiety issues these days if parents are sitting down with them to ‘prepare’ them for the Queen dying

A child that suffers from anxiety, perhaps caused by the pandemic/stress/or a number of reasons would benefit from being prepared gently and carefully. Many people will be upset around them and the shock. I think you are underestimating the impact on our country if I am honest.

Again not a Royalist but death is sad. I lost my dad recently and can empathize with anyone who has lost a family member.

TheLeadbetterLife · 08/09/2022 13:15

Good on her for holding on until Boris was out. He would have done an unbearable bit of Churchill cosplay and tried to rehabilitate his image.

daisybrown37 · 08/09/2022 13:15

I have the BBC News on - it seems like the presenters/reporters and BSL interpreter are all in somber colours. However, I have no idea what they were wearing earlier!

I think many will agree with you there. Hand hold Flowers

I personally will be devastated when she dies. I met her only once in my lifetime. She to me is the very epitome of strength, grace, steadfastness and her resolute determination to serve our country and the commonwealth can not be compared.

The Queen is the most iconic woman in the whole world.
She needs no introduction, and everyone on the planet knows who she is.
There is no one that compares to her, no one.

Our wonderful Queen is dying, and I am feeling truly devastated

I agree with you.

Can the lunatics and Royal haters all fuck off please? You're entitled to your opinion but this isn't the place. Many people will be genuinely upset by this.

Exactly.

StrawberryPot · 08/09/2022 13:15

With the best will in the world, it won't be a massive shock though will it?

My parents died in their late 80s and 90s. Both after lengthy, terminal illnesses. You accept the inevitable on one level, but part of you thinks it will never happen. So for me it was still a shock when they died.

Tierne · 08/09/2022 13:16

I'm.not a royalist but not an anti royalist either. My gran died this year. If the queen dies now... I feel like our link with the past is slipping away... And all we have is a future that feels darker

Ginger1982 · 08/09/2022 13:16

I'm no real fan of the younger royals, but the Queen has been around for so long and been a figurehead for so long. I doubt any other royal is as well known or well respected. I will be emotional when she dies.

But she is 96, has enjoyed good health most of her life, got to spend many years with the man she loved, raised her children and saw her grandchildren and great grandchildren. So many don't get that. A life well lived.

gatehouseoffleet · 08/09/2022 13:16

It will be sad when she dies, she's been a fixture of our lives for many decades even if we never met her and even if we've never supported a monarchy. Only the more elderly can remember a time when she wasn't queen.

YourLipsMyLipsApocalypse · 08/09/2022 13:16

I'm sorry, we can't discuss someone dying in case it reminds other posters of other bereavements?

Maybe those posters are best off not discussing this online, for their own mental health reasons.

He'll be gutted not to be in the prime spot.

the80sweregreat · 08/09/2022 13:16

I couldn't be with my dad when he died.
It's so emotional watching someone die. So sad. You feel lost when your parents die.
She has had an amazing life though.

Twitter always thinks the queen is dead, they were the same with Prince Phillip too.

She is obviously very unwell, she is very fortunate that she is able to be cared for at home by the very best private doctors.

And some of MN thought Philip was fine when he was photographed looking very ill and died within days.

whynotwhatknot · 08/09/2022 13:17
