The Queen is under 'medical supervision'

The Queen is under medical supervision at Balmoral after doctors became concerned for her health, Buckingham Palace says.

"Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen's doctors are concerned for Her Majesty's health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision," they said in a statement.

"The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral."

Her immediate family has been informed.

The announcement comes after the Queen, 96, pulled out of a virtual Privy Council on Wednesday, with doctors advising her to rest.

Breaking news BBC

We very much hope she is okay, it made me feel sad to read this. I think the line her immediate family have been informed was a worrying line.

👏Well said.

I'm no royalist but I don't understand why people can't have a bit of respect and class, not necessarily for the royal family but because some one is dying/has died.

It was the same when Maggie Thatcher died, not that I'm drawing a parallel between the two women. Then some people literally danced in the streets. I found the lack of compassion then as now very unpleasant.

Where death and serious illness is concerned if you have nothing nice to say it's always better to say nothing IMO.

The BBC are reporting Harry and Meghan are going to Balmoral. It astonishes me that either of them would think it appropriate Meghan should be there. Kate, Beatrice, Eugenie, Zara are not travelling there but she is.

Why? Harry and Megan are together so makes sense to travel together.

Plus Kate isn’t going because of the children and we’ve no idea about the others.

GobbolinoTheWitchesCat · 08/09/2022 14:26

It's very unsettling.

She's a remarkable woman and I have deep respect for her committment to her duty.

Twizbe · 08/09/2022 14:22

They are putting crowd barriers up outside balmoral ...

That doesn't necessarily mean anything on its own. People will travel to Balmoral because of this news and they will need to be managed.

IHateWasps · 08/09/2022 14:26

Can't understand why people are so rude on here, what are you getting out of it?

A sense of proportion?

Tierne · 08/09/2022 14:26

Only blood relations, except for Meghan who couldn't possibly just hang out in one of their many residences

How did that woman stand, meet and greet the new PM (and be nice to the former one) just a very short time ago? A very quick deterioration which suggests a sudden crisis. Sorry I do not mean to be speculative, but like others I am caught up with it all.

I'm speculating here but the notion of "I'm going to have to starve our people while I prop up the energy companies" would be enough to give someone a sign that now might be a good time to give up.

No, it doesn't sound good, but then I said that when HM missed the Remembrance Sunday service and she's still here so far

Back then, though, there was no statement saying the medics are "concerned", so it does sound as if folk are being prepared

If so I'd hope for a peaceful passing, just as I would for anyone

I think the difference this time is the statement and the very quick travelling of all of her children.

So what. It is none of your business what they do. Why do you think you know more about that families workings, than they do?

the80sweregreat · 08/09/2022 14:27

Why shouldn't Harry go up there ?
It's his Nan.
You put differences aside at times like this surely ?

I'm surprised by how much this news has affected me. The world will seem a stranger and scarier place without her.

I don't understand how anyone can 'be sad' about a stranger so distant they may as well be a character in a book.

Wow! How cold. So if you hear of a local elderly person passing away you don't feel sad in the slightest? That's not right....

This is a woman who has worked into her 90s. Lived through multiple wars and reigned this country for 70 years! I'm no royalist but I do have respect. Which she deserves by the tank load

Camilla, Tim and Sophie aren’t blood relatives.

Really sad news, no matter how unsurprising for her age. She's been incredible.

Can't understand why people are so rude on here, what are you getting out of it? Nasty people.

Only the monarchists being rude. You included.

TheKeatingFive · 08/09/2022 14:28

She's travelling as it is. The others are at home with their kids presumably. What do you expect Meghan to do? No one's saying she's being invited into the royal bedchamber.

JustLyra · 08/09/2022 14:26

Plus Kate isn’t going because of the children and we’ve no idea about the others.

It ought to expected that spouses will join the group and no doubt Harry will need to lean on his wife for support.

Thesearmsofmine · 08/09/2022 14:28

I prepared my children for the strange behaviour that they will likely witness when she does pass. The way people behaved when Diana died was really unsettling, way more than her actually dying.

Because the new pm doesn't make the world stranger and scarier?

LizzieSiddal · 08/09/2022 14:28

I too feel sad about this news and I’m not a royalist.

One thing we can be thankful for is that Boris Johnson is No get Pm and we won’t have to listen to him pontificating about the Queen.
