I’ll go first:

”Are you very young OP?”

OP posts:
justusandmoo · 05/09/2022 21:21

LTB!

Maltester71 · 05/09/2022 21:22

hth and ‘nope’

BEAM123 · 05/09/2022 21:23

"Why are you asking a bunch of strangers on Mumsnet?"

Because that's the whole bloody point of Mumsnet!

😂😂 yes! That makes me laugh every time!

Not to be unkind OP but why did you choose to have kids with this man?

This one!

Also (on any thread where the op is talking about feeling unhappy or unwell)
'Have you called your gp about this?'

SnowyPetals · 05/09/2022 21:27

"Use your words" gives me the absolute rage.

prettycolours · 05/09/2022 21:32

"What do you want from this thread OP?"

alibongo5 · 05/09/2022 21:33

I always hate the phrase "but that's just me", it always seems to have the unwritten words "and I'm so much better than everyone else so I can't expect everyone to think as I do" following it.

Sagealicious · 05/09/2022 21:48

AdobeWanKenobi · 05/09/2022 17:06

Ah yes. And then, when pointed in the direction of their previous thread, in the same username, denouncing all Americanisms, they then claimed to genuinely not know what a truck was.

when in a hole, stop digging. 😂

Nah some people need to keep digging that hole and bury themselves.

hewouldwouldnthe · 05/09/2022 21:52

Could he be autistic?

hewouldwouldnthe · 05/09/2022 21:53

Maybe you should lose weight for your health, not your marriage.

LoisWilkersonslastnerve · 05/09/2022 22:51

Ah the ice cream truck thread was absolute gold. I love it when an absolute eejit gets caught out. The op was so patient about it iirc😆

DillonPanthersTexas · 06/09/2022 13:25

"Well I sat my husband down before we got married and made my deal breakers very clear to him, and not watching porn was one of them. Perhaps you should have done the same OP"

LikeAStar1994 · 06/09/2022 13:29

"Use your words"

Whoever says that, I want to punch you in the mouth.

Calphurnia88 · 06/09/2022 13:37

Not always done in a patronising way, but women who imply that women who make an effort with their appearance (wear makeup, dresses, high heels, etc) must have deep rooted insecurities.

It's almost always done in a patronising way when coupled with words to the effect of 'I couldn't possibly have time for something so superficial!' when in reality it takes just as long to put heels on as it does other footwear, less time to put on a dress than a tshirt and jeans, and for those of us who have worn makeup since our late teens, less than 10 mins to do a full face.

Arbesque · 05/09/2022 21:03

Yes I have said 'genuine question' to make it clear I'm not sneering at or snidely challenging the OP.

But if the question is so reasonable, why do you think it might look that way?

Calphurnia88 · 06/09/2022 13:47

ReneBumsWombats · 06/09/2022 13:39

But if the question is so reasonable, why do you think it might look that way?

I have seen a looooot of threads on Mumsnet that for whatever reason draw a lot of (to quote this thread) patronising replies that people pretend are sincere.

I think 'genuine question' is basically a way of saying 'I'm asking this because - amongst all of the shitty responses you've had so far - I genuinely want to help but need some additional information first' or in short 'I'm not trying to be a dick here.'

Arbesque · 06/09/2022 14:03

ReneBumsWombats · 06/09/2022 13:39

But if the question is so reasonable, why do you think it might look that way?

Because so many posters question ops in a sarcastic rude way. I want the poster to know I'm genuine and not being a bitch.

Kashmirsilver · 06/09/2022 14:21

LTB.
Tell them to fuck off or a variation of inappropriate use of swearing.

Zzzz👍

Comtesse · 06/09/2022 14:45

Have you thought about getting a job?
have you thought about getting an au pair?
but why aren’t you married before getting pregnant/ stopping work etc, OP you’ve made yourself very vulnerable?
I guess they may have been used once or twice in a helpful, non-patronising way but not sure I have ever seen it myself……

girlmom21 · 06/09/2022 15:03

Oh I don't know if this has been mentioned but...

"I'm glad that's all you've got to worry about"

HillyBillyBumkin · 06/09/2022 15:06

girlmom21 · 06/09/2022 15:03

Oh I don't know if this has been mentioned but...

"I'm glad that's all you've got to worry about"

That's a good one along with "If only I had time to care about something that small". Well you've got time to read the OP and reply to it so you're not so short on time as you think you are!

Day20 · 06/09/2022 15:18

Arou · 05/09/2022 13:30

Didn’t you post the other day?

I think this is a genuine question. There was lots of threads about the woman dating a surgeon....she had multiple threads. You genuinely get people posting multiple threads all at once. Or sometimes a tale does sound very familiar.
