Statement made by Ukrainian First Lady

Fallonangel · 03/09/2022 16:13

The Ukrainian First Lady has made a statement addressing the UK telling us while we are counting our pennies they are also counting their casualties.
Aibu to feel selfish moaning about my lifestyle reductions?

The Times reports, on today's front page on their web edition, that Zelensky took "a swipe" at macron, accusing him of being afraid of Russia.
The twerp also took a similar swipe at Ireland in March, scolding Eire for not abandoning her traditional neutrality and adopting a more aggressive posture.
Not until every fucker from Africa to Argentina and from Belfast to Bali is involved in a world war, will this entitled man and his wife be happy.
Even then, they won't say thanks.
Too busy banning his own opposition parties, I suppose.
Ungrateful, twerps who want more, more more and take it as their due.
The rest of Europe freezes and starves, so what says they.

"Twerps" 😂

Oh dear dear dear.

“Mrs Zelenska was asked what message she had for British people who are facing soaring energy bills”

she was asked by our media.

Good.

It's about time our media started asking her and her husband some questions.

pinkpapaya · 03/09/2022 21:57

You aren't the first person I have heard say that about Donbask. Putin wants access to the Black Sea.

"Twerps" 😂

Oh dear dear dear.

You're right of course-Twerps is a bit cuddly for two ungrateful fuckers who silence opposition and salt away millions while expecting the rest of the world to pay for it.

You're probably thinking more along the lines of thankless, greedy cunts and you know, after her appearance today and his rants today, i think i agree with you.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 03/09/2022 22:03

She doesn’t need to thank us ffs.

Ukraine is fighting a war that, if they lose or if they had just rolled over, would have terrible repercussions for the rest of the world as well as for Ukraine. They’re fighting and dying on everyone’s behalf and we shouldn’t forget it.

vera99 · 03/09/2022 22:05

@Choconut that in a nutshell is that.

Chris Cappy made an interesting comparison in his latest video with Vietnam where he argued that the Russians and to a lesser extent the Chinese were very careful in the support they gave to the North in that their logistics, intelligence and weapon supply were enough to keep the war going and the Americans bogged down without being anywhere near enough to ‘win’ in a short time.
Until the weekend it seemed that the US was employing the sincerest form of flattery. Ukraine is most probably being played here as the world's hyperpower sends out powerful messages about its resolve and reach.

"Twerps" 😂

Oh dear dear dear.

"Twerp" is quite mild really. Compared with "egotistical oligarch who pitched his citizens into all out war with Russia on the promise of a seat at the top table" or suchlike.

CPL593H · 03/09/2022 22:06

Tell you what@VirginiaWool and @MissPankhurst why don't you have a chat with Mr Putin and advise him that next time he wants to invade another sovereign state, he should first make sure he has a functional army and be confident that some of the richest nations in the world, with the best military equipment, won't support said state.

You can call Zelenskyy anything you want, but without the mass support of the Ukrainian people, the tanks would be in Kyiv by now (well, the ones that didn't get totally bogged down in the mud would, possibly)

Tierne · 03/09/2022 22:07

😲

pinkpapaya · 03/09/2022 22:07

But we aren't forgetting it. 3 billion of training and armaments, millions in charity donations, opening up our country to refugees, taking the hit financially etc. The least she could have been was a little bit gracious!

pinkpapaya · 03/09/2022 22:10

I doubt the Ukranians are fighting for Zelensky. They are fighting for survival, their land and their families. The same as everyone did in WW2.

LoveLarry · 03/09/2022 22:13

Miss Pankhurst

I really, really think you need to put the bottle down and have a rest

Your posts are incredible.

So much bitterness and jealousy, it can't be good for the old ticker.

Legrandsophie · 03/09/2022 22:14

It’s because the Ukrainians are bracing for all their allies to turn against them during the winter.

Which is exactly why Putin cut off that gas pipeline. He hoping that in the rush to save ourselves we’ll let him take most of Eastern Europe.

Fuck Putin. I’d rather freeze than burn his gas. Because in the end he’d have us and the rest of the world to ransom.

VirginiaWool · 03/09/2022 22:15

Bore off @CPL593H . If you really do believe the actual horsecrap you're coming out with, you're being played. Putin knows it, Zelenskiy knows it, Johnson knows it, even that merry old halfwit in the White House knows it. On some level. Probably. Sovereign state and democracy my hoop. This is realpolitik. They're just shuffling themselves around, trying to come out of it better off than they were before.

Your terminology is indeed strange, @VirginiaWool Most odd.

vera99 · 03/09/2022 22:17

This was the statement that started the OP for the record.

Legrandsophie · 03/09/2022 22:18

We’ve taken at least twenty Ukrainian families in our village and the stories they tell are harrowing. I don’t want that for Ukraine (and probably Moldovia, Latvia, Lithuania and probably Georgia too).

If we can get through this winter and the fuel crisis we’ll have beaten the only ace he had to pressurise the West.

CockingASnook · 03/09/2022 22:20

Surprised at so many Russia sympathisers here.

Well she and her DH are certainly used to counting up their pennies according to the Pandora Papers! It is the ordinary Ukranian people I feel sorry for not the Zelenskys and their cronies or the other corrupt officials there.

I'm sure there are. Not, however, the English language as used by native speakers.

A bit overegged now.

Is anything I have said, apart from my concluding personal opinions, factually incorrect?
No.
I rather think a lot of people will be bitter as they face losing homes and businesses for the sake of a thankless hard-faced pair.
This pair would rather take swipes, as The Times put it, than say thank you for standing with us-we know the bills are coming in, we know it's hard but thank you.
Graceless and grabbing are they and that is becoming apparent after their shite tonight.
It is a bit silly, Larry, to accuse someone of being drunk because you disagree. Good job I'm not in Ukraine, otherwise I wouldn't be heard of again!

Tierne · 03/09/2022 22:24

Having watched that clip (hate the dubbing by the way!) I think that was a bad response. I completely take her point but the correct response to that question would have been something more encouraging and rallying. That's just basic statesmanship. When you're addressing a nation and their concerns, you dont say "well, things could be worse".

CookieDoughKid · 03/09/2022 22:25

Ukraine are counting the casualties and the dead. We are counting the costs. But its not so clear cut. Don't forget we are directly affected in our ability to support their Ukrainian families HERE. I asked for a £100 small goodwill contribution from my Ukrainian guests because my utility bills (including water) is going up by a grand. A GRAND this winter. The £350 i get from government doesnt really compensate. Yes it helps but it isn't a large enough sum to shoulder the huge fucking stress of supporting a Ukrainian family and rising energy costs in my home at the same time. The response from my Ukrainian guests for a monetary contribution was lukewarm. It has put a sour taste in my mouth. Will I be extending my hosting arrangements after my 1 year commitment? Absolutely not. Not even if the Gov doubled my host payments.

So you see, Ukraine may be counting blood. But it's not them vs us. I've gone out on a limb here more than most. If we can't work on this together, we won't be able to afford to support their precious Ukrainian families here either.
