So. You're Putin. You rule a massive amount of people. You're ex KGB. You want to take over the world perhaps (or maybe just want to play!).
What is your next move now that the West is in crisis as you won't supply them with oil/gas?
Your people are dying but you've loads of people. You've invaded a non NATO country so you know they won't touch you.

I was just trying to help ease your worries they are no longer in the Irish Sea according to reports.

I'm not worried about him nuking us. I'm more worried about dying from hypothermia.

I mean, that's probably true. But Putin is a megalomaniac and you're just a strange little herb on the internet, asking questions and not listening to the answers.

I am listening. That's the strange thing. Nobody else seems to be listening.

OK, so in just one sentence, what are you trying to tell us that we aren't listening to?

LittleMissLaundry · 03/09/2022 21:38

I am Putin. I have money, prestige and years in power but i am now faced with my own potential mortality. I therefore need a legacy.

I wish to return my glorious mother russia to what it once was - a true union of countires. I flirted with annexing Georgia a few years ago, and The West didn't intervene too much. Which is why I'm surprised that my Ukrainian mission hasn't followed a similar path.

Financial sanctions hurt my closest friends and allies, freezing their assets. But they underestimate the power of glorious russia and as winter approaches i am toying with the idea of stopping all gas exports totally. And also grain exports. And fertiliser. There is so much that they rely on from us.

Internationally i shall do my best to forge closer bonds of friendship with my allies like China, i aim to help them wether the recession and economic instabilities that are about to hit. I shall keep abreast of how their forrays into Taiwan go - it might be that the other world leaders can't cope with 2 superpowers retaking lands that are historically theirs. I am glad that America has a weak leader, it shall be easy to undermine their nations political confidence using my army of internet bots and their right wing media. My machinations in Africa over the past decade are paying off.

mathanxiety · 03/09/2022 21:39

Ukraine is his end game.

Some of you are on glue with delusions of designs on Ireland, etc.

Also, you need to do some serious reading on Russian history starting with Peter the Great and continuing all the way to the present. You'll notice some maps that you should pay attention to, and above all, the continuity despite drastic regime changes.

Hyacinth2 · 03/09/2022 21:42

A bit of research into his childhood might reveal some explanation - he wants to return Russia to being the USSR - wtf is it with these men - China is the same, they are vast countries why aren't they big enough?
Putin is 69 so hopefully some health problem will happen to clip his wings.

Tierne · 03/09/2022 21:35

I'm listening to him. He's not happy. I don't know why. I'm trying to listen to understand why. If I want to defeat him as an enemy, I need to know how he thinks. If I want him as an ally, I need to know why he's doing what he's doing.

What has his childhood got to do with anything?

I'm pretty sure that nobody suggested he wants to annex Ireland. Jesus.

If I were Putin, I’d get rid of the oligarchs and give the population what they used to have during communism- which is all the basic things needed covered by the state or very cheap.
I will let them keep foreign travel ( where allowed) and will invest heavily in the Illegals programme.
Then I will ensure the US understands what it is to have a war at your doorstep and will leave them to it.
I won’t bother with Europe as too insignificant.
Finally, I will never retire, hoping to live until my son with Kabayeva is old enough to take over.
I will keep one friend close to me and that is Lukashenko, also waiting for his son to grow up. We won’t send them to Eton, no way, just in case they turn out like Boris.

orbitalcrisis · 03/09/2022 22:40

His next move will be in the height of winter when Europe is the weakest due to gas and petrol rationing and civil unrest, then attack the electricity network and internet.

Chowbellow · 03/09/2022 13:29

The stock market is crashing and there is considerable political unease all across the West. These foolish democrats are going to be victims of their people.

Is that you, Donald?

The way Putin works is that he does something and then UTTERLY POINT BLANK DENIES IT.
What is to stop him accidentally sending a missile into London and then going WOOPSY - MY BAD!

OP, are you a one-trick pony?

@GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing I like the cut of your jib.

I watched a documentary about him a few months back. He has planned this since he was security for Gorbachev. He manipulated Gorbachev to back his presidency and then didn't even thank him. It was filmed live and if you watch you will see the expression on Gorbachevs face. He realised he had been played.
Putin is an absolute dictator. People are pawns not humans.
He has every trait of a true psychopath.

What documentary was this?

itsgettingweird · 04/09/2022 09:53

PinkyU · 03/09/2022 13:51

If I’m Putin I want the same respect (through fear) that Russia had back in the glory days of the Cold War.

I want retribution for Russia being left behind after WW2 given the massive part played in helping the allied forces win and recognition of the substantial loses of life and economy. I want financial remuneration.

I would recognise that the only only way to achieve this is to firstly cripple Europe then threaten the world with nuclear war.

That's very interesting and o think your second paragraph is a fair enough wish.

But I think Putins mindset means his means outstrip what are acceptable gains.

Isitsixoclockalready · 04/09/2022 09:56

This has already been played out in hundreds of articles online. You only have to Google 'Putin'.

SquirrelSoShiny · 03/09/2022 13:31

My fantasy is that he has a sudden attack of conscience, realises he's basically a low tech Dr Evil and gives himself one of those accidental falls his oil tycoons keep having.

My fantasy is that he has a sudden heart attack.

I'm on holiday in Portugal at the moment and their are loads of Russians here. I'm biting my tongue.

Isitsixoclockalready · 04/09/2022 09:59

What Putin really fears are functioning democracies - especially big ones - right on his doorstep.

Digita · 04/09/2022 10:03

@LittleMissLaundryInternationally i shall do my best to forge closer bonds of friendship with my allies like China

Such as war games events?

Apparently something that tends to happen anyway every 4 years. But still even more terrifying given what’s been happening in Ukraine.

Russia starts massive war games with China and other ally states

Putin Brings China and India to Russia for War Games Defying US

Putin to attend war games with China and other allied nations, expert warns of 'dangerous' time
Russia expert warns Moscow and Beijing could be planning a 'surprise' during drills like a simulated nuclear weapons release.

Maybe he only meant Ukraine when he started out, like how Hitler only meant Poland. But the backlash and sanctions from the Western powers leads to a more widespread war. And that’s scary.

I do think there’s a real potential for world war 3 and that one maybe the end game.

"I’d want Russia’s pride for our input in WW2 to be acknowledged. ThecWest could start by putting up memorials to Russia’s WW2 dead in our military cemeteries."

Now that isn't a bad idea.

As many as 27 million Soviets lost their lives, with as many as 11.4 million military deaths joined by up to 10 million civilian deaths due to military activity and an additional 8 million to 9 million deaths due to famine and disease.

People seem to forget that Russia was our ally in WW2

They do.

Any many analysis reports from WW2 actually state we only won because of their input.

And this is it isn't it? Our poor relationship with Russia goes back 75 odd years. Pretty much Putins lifetime.

He will have learnt a different history to us his whole life. Not different but obviously you learn your countries bias. By us always assuming he's wrong because of his actions we are part of the problem of resolution.

Great idea above by starting to offer memorials to those who lost their lives fighting for us - The west.

I don't agree with Putin or his actions but everyone knows behaviour is communication and if we ignore what he's saying there is no resolution that isn't military.
