So. You're Putin. You rule a massive amount of people. You're ex KGB. You want to take over the world perhaps (or maybe just want to play!).
What is your next move now that the West is in crisis as you won't supply them with oil/gas?
Your people are dying but you've loads of people. You've invaded a non NATO country so you know they won't touch you.

BTW, re another of the lines being spammed round by Putinists...

In case folk hadn't noticed, we're already in a multi-polar world.

With the growth of the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) in addition to the powerful countries of the Middle East, the globe is already very much multi-polar.

What's wrong with this picture, for Putin, is that none of those poles is Russia.

He misses the old bi-polar days when there were only 2 superpowers, and Russia was one of them.

But again, this is something he can't really sell to aforementioned multiple poles. They don't need him in order to become powerful. But he needs them.
Hence all his cosying up to them and whataboutery.

Dig in in Ukraine. He will get whatever he can hold onto because the option of forcing east Ukrainian Russian speakers to stay part of Ukraine isn't going to happen. If somehow or other Russian forces are dislodged from territory now held, and Ukrainian forces take over, there will be a bloodbath/ civil war and continuous guerilla fighting for decades. The west needs grain and a stable Ukraine or food prices will skyrocket. The US can't feed everyone and also provide winter feed for animals. The west needs oil. The new eastern borders will be settled after a long, cold winter in Western Europe. I suspect the EU is already arguing with American hawks over this.

Keep China and India onside.
Keep opec oil production stable.
Keep on getting involved in Africa alongside China.

Post his sentries.

The other way around? So you would like them to take the "via Australia" route to get to say Tunisia?

SkirridHill · 03/09/2022 20:55

Mate, you didn't know that Russia had been our ally in two world wars and you're still harping on about Putin invading Russia because he's farting about off the coast of Ireland. Other posters have explained why he's probably not going to invade London, a great many of the answers have been nuanced and balanced, and you're just repeating the same question. What's your skin in the game? You sound a bit fixated.

A lot of people explained why he might be building up forces on the Ukrainian border too. Sightseeing and defence. Russia has no need whatsoever to be in Irish waters.

Have any of you ever played chess?

OP posts:
Fynix · 03/09/2022 21:04

They didn't enter Irish waters they entered the Irish Sea, they didn't enter any territorial waters, and even though you were like bless, I gave an answer as to why they were in the Irish Sea and were escorted along the way after 6 months of being deployed in this horrid illegal war they were supposedly off back to Russia.
Do you want people to just agree with your theory?

@Chowbellow As Putin, I know that it is all about displays of strength and that if we win a war of the mind, that's half the job done. My subs are on their way somewhere else but make sure you surface lads, so that our good friends in the U.K. see us going by.

Look at what I did with Merkel and the dogs a few years ago. Intimidation. That's why I'm bobbing about off the coast of Ireland.

Chowbellow · 03/09/2022 21:08

Chess is actually a brutal game. I remember being a little bit shit at it because I didn't like to have a pawn taken. (In my defence, I was a very soft child)
In a game of Chess, you have 8 pawns, 2 bishops, 2 knights, 2 castles and a king and a queen.
Your first to be lost will be your pawns.
I'm just wondering who are the pawns in this fucking game.

They were escorted out of the Irish Sea by our navy obviously not all the way home probably just far enough away to be well on the way, I only googled after your post as I hadn't seen anything about it. The Irish times had a piece on it and a few other papers.

Crimea was important to Putin as it has sea waters. Whatever land attacks he can wage, why is the sea so important?

Do you know what Terry Pratchett said about people who use too many exclamation marks? Same rules apply with question marks.

What are you having an issue READING????
They were escorted out of the Irish Sea by our navy, I never said they got escorted home I said they were on the way back home via the Irish Sea after being deployed for 6 months, I'm guessing Ukraine.
As I said I got this info from googling if you want full article and wording Google it for yourself!

I'm pretty sure Putin doesn't like questions being asked either. ;)

Ah yes sorry I forgot, I wasn't just quoting what I read, I actually have all the inside info, fucked if I know, Google and ask the reporters I was quoting.

SkirridHill · 03/09/2022 21:20

I mean, that's probably true. But Putin is a megalomaniac and you're just a strange little herb on the internet, asking questions and not listening to the answers.

Hoghedge10 · 03/09/2022 21:20

I think Putin is all about the willy waving. He wants to show how powerful he is and to do that he will prolong any possible misery he can cause to the west.

Depending on if he is sick physically as well as mentally, I think he will cripple oil supply more than he already is.
Will try and make feeding people impossible unless you are Russian or a friend of Russia.
Will prolong the war in Ukraine and engage with as many 'less powerful' countries for as long as possible in the hope that they will run out of resources first.
He will try and rally support from counties such as China in the hope he can force the West's hand by willy waving how powerful he is with his new friends.

I think if everything went his way he would love to have the UK, Germany, France, the USA (and pretty much everyone else!) Kowtowing to him with him acting as the strict parent having all decisions run past him.

I also think things change depending on if he is seriously ill or not. If he is then he has nothing to lose. In which case I imagine he will try and do all of the above until he presses the red button and nukes everyone just before he becomes too unwell to function.

Why was he new Ireland? I would imagine it was to move between places however its also not going to do any harm to keep the UK feeling a little antsy in his mind.

Will he kill everyone in a blaze of glory style nuclear war? probably not (unless he is seriously ill) will he make everyone suffer as much as he possibly can? undoubtedly.

Fynix · 03/09/2022 21:21

I was just trying to help ease your worries they are no longer in the Irish Sea according to reports.
