Adults who love regularly holidaying at Disneyland/Disneyworld and love buying all the Disney merch... what is it you love about it?

@SliceOfCakeCupOfTea

Not one bit

Although we never travel in summer, always in May

Lower crowds

Perfect weather

We go every year to Florida and the odd year we go to a second location to tick them off (as id like to visit them all, but am struggling to get over my snobbishness about Paris!)

I think over summer or at Christmas it would be hell!!

Ah see I've only ever been in summer due to teacher family member so I've only been during peak season.

I'll accept im wrong out of season but I'm not persuaded for peak season.

I’m currently being a “pathetic” “overgrown child” in Disney world right now! My kids are happy, we’re happy and it’s a lovely escape from the real world! Lots of people having a fab time here! We don’t want to come home. There is so much to do - not just the parks - the weather is fab and the margaritas are to die for!

Wow some people are miserable with their comments. I’m happy they don’t bring their misery here!

GroggyLegs · 27/08/2022 22:29

We had 3 days at Disneyland Paris at Easter. I am not a Disney person.

I thought I was going to hate it but I had a great time. It's a really clean, beautiful park and we loved the rides.

I also have to admit the last few Disney movies I have watched have been absorbing stories, humorous and the animation is second to none.

You don't have to love it but looking down your nose at people who do find joy in something harmless is just as unnecessary & childish.

Mariposista · 27/08/2022 22:33

My ex boyfriend was! He claimed it was because he had much younger brothers and they liked it but it was a but weird having Disney songs playing on the speakers and not nice music.

FMSucks · 27/08/2022 22:34

Disney World is my happy place. It’s so much fun. As another poster up thread said you just don’t even think about work when you’re there and all the mundaneness of life. It’s pure escapism (I’m off now to look at the 400+ photos and videos I took in June when I was there and work out when I can afford to go back!)

Theredtoyphone · 27/08/2022 22:36

I’ve seen this quite a few times on here, I find it quite strange that Disney is singled out.. What about Harry Potter, Anime/Comic Con, Star Wars? Some people spend thousands on football season tickets and hundreds on shirts every year, why is that ok but a theme park isn’t?

I really can’t get worked up about it, if it brings you happiness and doesn’t harm anyone else then that’s all that matters?

FMSucks · 27/08/2022 22:36

@yorkshirepudgf - oh enjoy! Not at all jealous, I swear!

TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong · 27/08/2022 22:39

Not my thing, but chacun à son goùt... it would be a strange and boring world if everybody liked the same things...

Amybelle88 · 27/08/2022 22:42

You sound like a lovely positive person 😂😂😂

Floralnomad · 27/08/2022 22:43

I love the Disney parks , I don’t buy the merchandise and I’ve not seen the latest films as I prefer classic Disney . I don’t get the appeal of sitting round a swimming pool / on the beach for a week but I wouldn’t criticise someone else if that type of holiday floated their boat . Each to their own .

CookieCoo · 27/08/2022 22:44

It’s just magical!!! Love every second of Orlando.

I love Vegas too 😂

Serialcatmum · 27/08/2022 22:45

Why do any of you care? You’re not into it. That’s ok.

I don’t like Halloween. Does that mean a I feel the need to start a thread of day it’s pathetic/ weird.

Nope I’m just here living my best life.

FYI- the magic of walking through Magic Kingdom and looking up at that castle will always stay with me. Im not hurting anyone. Im actually a very happy soul 😋

QuizzlyBears · 27/08/2022 22:47

I think all inclusive cheap tacky beach holidays are pathetic - each to their own, isn’t it! If you don’t like it then don’t worry yourself about other people doing so.

whynotwhatknot · 27/08/2022 22:49

vegas is my happy place so I get why people love disney. my sister is one it makes her happy who am i to judge

MoistBandana · 27/08/2022 22:52

Better Disney obsession than obsession with Kardashians, royals, BGT, Love Island etc etc etc.

People like stuff. That's it.

Disney puts out some of the highest rated movies.of all time. Pixar also produces amazing films. In the grand scheme, loving Disney is pretty understandable considering the quality of the content they've produced for 100 years.

Overgrown children! It's pathetic.

Someone needs a bit of Disney magic 💫

I think the footy/Disney comparison is a very good one.

Merchandise
Songs
Season tickets
Tattoos for the truly... committed.

Same shizzle.

Phos · 27/08/2022 22:56

I don't think it's mean of OP to ask. I don't get it either, why people would want to spend their holiday standing in queues mostly! I rewatched some Disney "classics" with her recently and omg they are way shittier than I remember them being. Some people obviously don't feel that way and I guess I would be interested in how these films make them feel and what they personally get out of a Disney holiday,

nettytree · 27/08/2022 22:58

Just back from wdw and would be on the the next plane back out. But have to save again as it’s so expensive. I would hate a holiday where you sat by a pool all day, but everyone’s different.

Have you ever been on a Disney holiday?

As you don't spend most of the time in lines

Especially not with Genie+ (and in the past FP+ etc.)

MayISuggestSomeThickCutSteakChipsToGoWithThat · 27/08/2022 23:05

Because there is nothing more magical than walking along Main Street in Magic Kingdom and seeing Cinderella's castle right in front of you. That no matter how old you are the magic is always there and for me it's a place where my mind just frees and I feel like me again. I hope one day I can take my Babies and create many more memories with them.

Whiterose23 · 27/08/2022 23:06

I’m currently in Florida now.
For me it’s tied into childhood memories when we went to the magic kingdom my kids thought it was fantastic I’d turned into a big kid.
I’ve been on the brink of being signed off from work with stress so they hadn’t seen a happy mum for a while.

I hate holidays lying by a pool but can understand people do like doing that.
Surely you can see different people like different things. oh and you’d never know I loved Disney/universal of you visited my home apart from the odd mug we don’t buy much merchandise

ShhDoNotTell · 27/08/2022 23:08

I adore Disney. I feel sorry for people who call other people’s interests dad or stupid, especially making a post about them. What a miserable person you must be.

TiredzzZZ · 27/08/2022 23:09

I've wondered this too.

We went on holiday this year to a Disney type (but not Disney) resort. It was all castles, and kids entertainers, and kids shows, and kids food, and free sweets, kids water slides and splash pools, etc... It was clearly for kids (and under 12s especially I'd say), yet there were some rooms advertised as only for adults and thus some people staying there without kids. I remember wondering why the hec people without kids would go there! It wasn't cheap and was clearly a kid themed resort. What kind of adult would want to stay at such a place?
