Adults who love regularly holidaying at Disneyland/Disneyworld and love buying all the Disney merch... what is it you love about it?

You can easily do Disney for £5-£6k by stating in a villa or a local hotel outside the Disney bubble for example
That's still getting on for twice what I would spend on a Summer holiday for our family of 4. Ordinary people don't spent £6k on holidays do they?

That's close to the average cost of a holiday

The average cost of a family of 4 holiday from the UK is currently sitting just under £5k

I have been to Disney World several times, most recently this past January. It is fantastic but I don't think of it as magical anymore. It used to be more child oriented. I do understand that adults have more to spend so I can see how they would cater to them but I liked it better before they incorporated Star Wars and the other more grown up type attractions, along with serving alcohol at the parks. They are definitely trying to raise prices and drop the number of visitors, it's a deliberate strategy. It used to be very doable on a budget. Not so much anymore.
That being said, I do plan to go to Disneyland this year. I know, I know.

Would love to know how to plan a Disney trip that costs £5-6k. We paid around this all in at the beginning of 2020 but prices are insane at the moment and don't represent value for money so we're unlikely to be going anytime soon

Last minute deals ate also worth looking at

You could go to florida for 2wks for around £600

But it soon adds up when adding when adding tickets. But if you wanted it as a base to explore . Its perfect

Agrudge · 28/08/2022 20:59

That's £600pp

Oh hi!!
I’m in Florida right now. 2nd trip this year and 16th overall since DH introduced me to it in 2004.
I have ears, T-shirts, jumpers, shoes, jewellery…. I wear them all the time. Disney music plays daily in my house. Disney is my happy place. I literally feel a weight lifting off my shoulders when I walk down Main Street. I can genuinely see a difference in photos of me at Disney to at home - I look at least 10 years younger.

There is magic there for some.

WHY do people judge so much on this? I’ve seen a number of threads like this over the years. What harm are we doing anyone? You don’t get it? I don’t get camping, skiing, football, early mornings but it’s perfectly easy for me to understand that some people like those things because we’re all different.

Wow, nobody I know spends anything like that. To spend £5K you need to have earned £7/8K before tax. I can imagine that all inclusive holidays are on the whole pretty expensive though, so fair enough if that is the comparison.

Flights can be got for £350 each (BA sale had an email about it yesterday)

Villa costs $2500 for a couple of weeks

Tickets £600 each

Food - depends on what you spend

Term time you will get cheaper flights and accommodation. In school holidays you may struggle to get flights cheap enough to reduce the cost that much.

But the park tickets and food will still be high. Currently the tickets for 7 days ti DW start from £469 per adult. Add on Universal tickets too and it's already adding up hugely.

We used to do it for that kind of price 10 years or more ago. Never done it that cheap since.

TwiggletLover · 29/08/2022 09:39

We want to go to universal as well this time so looking at £3000 just on tickets. Unless we were able to get a very cheap last minute deal ( which doesn't work for us ) I'd say that it would be practically impossible to get our accommodation, flights and food for only £3000.
Also when we went in 2020 we did a split stay with a villa and Disney hotel including disney dining and fast passes. We loved being able to do all the character dining and not having to worry about what we were spending on food. If we go again we won't be able to experience the character dining and will have to be on a budget catering for our selves. Essentially a worse holiday for almost double the price. If they bring back the free Disney dining plan then we will look at going again
