To say people posting pics of their fuel bills need to stop

I’ve decided that all the people posting screen shots of their energy bills on social media can fuck off !!!

IMO they are as bad as the ones all posting pictures of empty shelves at the beginning of covid / lockdown. and then of petrol stations that had ran out this time last year.

I get that people are worried and scared. I am too. However my bills are my private business and I will deal with them myself. And while it may be that their estimated bills are correct - to just post them up on socials for all to see when everyone is worrying with no real context, just these massive figures is out of order. It is just scaremongering for the sake of it (as everyones is going to be different due to their usage, their house size and house age, amount of people, how good their insulation is etc) so it is causing people even more mass panic and upset and for what end ???

get rid of sky tv, mobiles, learn to cook. stop buying non essentials like alcohol, take aways, cigarettes etc. no need for new clothes

You should stick to the Daily Mail

I feel calm until I see stupid comments like this.
Always I assume by rich people well insulated in their ignorance.

its a reasonable statement. sky tv is a luxury. when i was younger we used to have to make phone calls from the phone on the street

Those pesky poor people! With their massive tvs and their smoking! And wanting to replace clothes! They don’t know they’re born.

It isn’t, it’s stupid. Sky tv is by far and away the cheapest form of entertainment, especially if you have children. For reference, I recently went to the zoo and spent almost £200 for about four hours.

YANBU
People need to cut their cloth to suit. too many living lifestyles beyond their means on credit. the piper needs to be paid. People just need to accept it and move on

Oh do fuck off, dear.

I live in a very modest two bed terraced house. Have two jobs. Cut everything I can. No streaming accounts. Extremely cheap phone contract. I don't drink or smoke or take holidays abroad.

And I have no fucking idea how I'm going to afford this winter.

It’s competitive hysteria.

Yes, some people are estimated to have high fuel bills, and when they post them on social media they will gain sympathy. But as soon as someone posts a bill which isn’t as high as Fred’s round the corner people will start branding them insensitive for daring to post a lower bill when other people are going to be paying more etc etc etc.

And pragmatic is being aware of what your actual usage is, rather than accepting the energy companies’ demand for an over-estimated direct debit.

Many of the energy companies are sending out estimates which are way over the price cap so are not accurate in the slightest but have certainly managed to scare people.

Yep this is my point

I am extremely pissed off too believe me and I'm far from okay with it

I just think the posting pics of bills is unhelpful and unnecessary and adds to the panic in the same way as the covid panickers . Admittedly the pics of empty shelves / empty petrol stations were probably more damaging as it made even more morons panic buy. where as at least that can't happen with this. but the sense of hysteria is very similar and that's the point I'm getting at

And lol that some posters think that moaning about it and posting your direct debits on Facebook will somehow get something done about it.
If people want to show their anger then why not get out on the streets and protest not sit on social media crying about it? I certainly will be if it comes to it

Also; Love how some one said I'm a Tory. I'm definitely not a Tory 😆😆😆😆

Well this thread has been a wake up call...
Before reading it I'd been swinging between burying my head in the sand to being silently hysterical with worry about it all.

I'm now full on hysterical with worry.

It's going to be bad isn't it. 😳😰😭😭😭

Where did you live? Around here there are new builds thrown up all over those green and pleasant lands, which means heavy traffic and few open areas. Or are you suggesting we force the poor to send their kids out in the cold because you think sky’s a luxury in 2022?

Tell me you're an entitled, spoiled, DM reading boomer without telling me.....

It's mind boggling that people like you not only exist but also genuinely believe that sort of shite.

Oh, and you left "fancy car" off of your list of cliché things poor people waste money on.

Did your parents own your house? How much land did they have? What were their pensions like?

Ermm yes I think hysteria is the correct way to feel about this. More people especially the elderly are not going to be having their heating on. People are potentially going to die because of this. I get the feeling you are very, very naive of what is actually going to happen.*

So we should just accept being shafted, shrug our shoulders and be happy at paying over £6k on utilities!

Both.

User4668430 · 26/08/2022 21:06

People post what they have for dinner, put flags on there faces for countries that they have nothing to do with, post photos of Covid tests so I suppose a bill is somewhat topical, never mind soon be Christmas, maybe the present piles might be a bit smaller or maybe not...

they do own it. no land, just the garden the house is on. Mum was a stay at home mum, so no pension only state one now

why such anger at me?

This is the only SM I’m on.

people can post whatever they want to. Maybe don’t look at it, like me?
