All the polls say she is ahead of sunak but I’m dreading her getting into power. Can anyone think of any positives as I’m struggling. I’m not that keen on sunak but given the choice I’d much rather him.

Labour and Lib Dem both need to be doing more to appeal to the young, whatever class. Too many young people think politics is so far removed from them that it's pointless caring.

Kendodd · 20/08/2022 18:44

Truss/Sunak/Johnson, it doesn't really matter, it's the fucking Daily Mail governing us anyway.

Jennybeans401 · 20/08/2022 18:46

She's terrible. Sunak st least has a clue, Truss is hopeless.

the80sweregreat · 20/08/2022 18:48

It's true that the right wing press will continue to hold us all to ransom
I bet that Ms Truss will be made up to a huge fanfare of new blood etc.
It'll just the be the same old same old for a few years.

Hahaha...yeah, that’s what we need!! Angela Rayner will sort our economic problems. Excuse me while I roll around on the floor laughing. You think Liz Truss will mess things up? Just let Labour loose. Corbyn would have bankrupted this country within five years.

If you’d prefer a socialist paradise, try Venezuela. There is plenty of room - mainly because everyone is desperately trying to leave.

Unlikely Angela Raynor would be responsible for sorting out economic policy when the Shadow Chancellor is Rachel Reeves:

Reeves studied at New College, Oxford and the London School of Economics before working as an economist at the Bank of England, the British Embassy in Washington, D.C. and HBOS. (from Wikipedia)

@Carpy88999 angela raynor's accent doesn't make her sound thick, her odious behaviour shows her as thick!

Something tells me you don't know what odious means. Ironic when you're calling someone thick 😂

"But but but Corbyn"

For fucks sake change the record

GreenLunchBox · 20/08/2022 19:30

Corbyn's 2019 manifesto ideas are being spoken of now as good ideas- broadband for all, nationalising utilities. So who's the fool? 🙄🤔

They're not good ideas let's not pretend otherwise. Corbyn was an idiot but the people he associated with like John McDonnell are legitimately dangerous.

I'm glad the Corbyn era is dead and in the rear view mirror and I hope Starmer can make them electable again, sadly the tories are doing a better job of that than Labour themselves though.

WagathaChristieMystery · 20/08/2022 19:46

Why is John McDonnell dangerous @Carpy88999?

bevelino · 20/08/2022 19:48

howmanyseas · 20/08/2022 14:00

I think her only saving grace will be that people will be less likely to re-elect the Conservatives with Truss in charge.

Hoooraaaay

bloodyplanes · 20/08/2022 19:49

@GreenLunchBox extremely unpleasant or repulsive. Not sure what is hard to understand about that?

@Suetwo ''Corbyn would have bankrupted this country within five years.
If you’d prefer a socialist paradise, try Venezuela. There is plenty of room - mainly because everyone is desperately trying to leave.''

Well in two years Johnson has managed to pretty much destroy the country: sea and rivers full of sewage, ridiculous energy bills, Brexit, strikes, billions of tax payer money wasted on a useless track and trace system, corruption, NHS collapse, unaffordable rents and some of the worst Covid death stats in the world and general chaos.

A Tory paradise doesn't look so great, does it?

torfa · 20/08/2022 20:22

She's awful, she doesn't give two shits about the environment and climate change and keeps talking about deregulation of the water companies.
Having someone like that in power even for a short period of time when we're fast running out of time to take any meaningful action on climate change and the biodiversity crisis in this country would be an absolute disaster.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/08/2022 20:27

What has Angela Raynor done that's so awful?

Welcome to the Sunlit Uplands. Johnson's Got It Done.

Why is John McDonnell dangerous @Carpy88999?

Because unlike Corbyn who is an idiot, McDonnell is clever and still believes all the same nonsense. His brand of socialism isn't lifting the bottom up its dragging the top down.

It's breathtakingly the speed Johnson managed to do this in. It was obvious to anyone with half a brain he'd be a disaster but I assumed there'd be grown ups around him preventing him from causing too much carnage.

Corbyn and his ilk are not tough on Russia. They probably wouldn't be mincing around with the Lebedevs like Boris and Gove. When all the evidence pointed towards the Salisbury novichok incident being Russian state sanctioned Corbyn still wouldn't have it. He and his friends are just as dangerous as the clowns in charge now.

I'm new Labour through and through so people Corbyn are as outrageous to me as Rees-Mogg and the like.

abSoLuTe dIsAsTeR 🤪

Are you saying the Tories care about climate change? Did you not hear Truss said in one of the hustings that one of the saddest sights is fields full of solar panels?

Did you not hear they voted to dump raw sewage in our rivers now they can because we're out of the EU?

The NHS confederation have said we're facing a humanitarian crisis. Were apparently a first world country. Ive only ever heard 'humanitarian crisis' applied to poor countries before. The Tories have done this.

So quit with the whataboutery.

BunsyGirl · 20/08/2022 20:43

Sadly the snobs would never support a working class woman like Raynor. Unless your a toff with an upper class background your not deemed capable of doing the job.

Will they support Liz Truss then? As she was educated at a Northern comp….

Lonelycrab · 20/08/2022 20:43

Corbyn are as outrageous to me as Rees-Mogg and the like

Corbyn is a lot less close to being in power right now, than JRM, who actually is very close to the heart of government. So it’s not very relevant at the moment.

Jellykat · 20/08/2022 21:00

Liz Truss is a clueless fuckwit, remember her publicly 'backing' Britons who wanted to go fight in Ukraine last year? then having to back track fast, because to do so would be illegal?.. As for her tax reductions to help with the energy crisis, and getting rid of the Green levy? bloody idiot..
I'm terrified of the amount of damage she will cause as P.M
