All the polls say she is ahead of sunak but I’m dreading her getting into power. Can anyone think of any positives as I’m struggling. I’m not that keen on sunak but given the choice I’d much rather him.

Not a fan but she's very far from dim

Although she may have gone to Oxford, she is far from bright in many areas.

She didn’t even understand the protocol when meeting the Russians, talking over the translator. Very dim. Amateurish.

She displays poor judgement frequently, having to then u turn when she realises what was obvious. Speaks before engaging brain. Dim in that regard.

And she’s useless at speaking publicly. Pork markets, say no more. So dim in that ability too.

emeraldjones · 20/08/2022 16:28

She'll be great for the country if everyone dislikes her and votes Labour next year!!
OMG! You think Labour will sort the country out??? I don't think so.

WagathaChristieMystery · 20/08/2022 16:36

I wonder if the next PM (whether it’s Truss or Sunak) will call a snap election? Does anyone think that’s likely? Like others, I’m hoping Truss gets in - and it looks likely that she will - so that Labour have a decent chance of doing well in the next election.

I'm struggling to find any metric in which the Tories have improved things since taking power from Labour in 2010. Debt, public services funding, levels of poverty, healthcare satisfaction, all worse. You could argue that unemployment has reduced, I guess, but that's only as a result of curbing immigration, which has actually harmed our industries.

hummerbird · 20/08/2022 16:55

Have we reached agreement? Truss will be worse than Sunak.
Sir Keir is good to brilliant
Rayner will be magnificent
We are a little bit doomed. Only a little bit really. Until the next GE when Labour will win and be in power for a decade in which they solve the probs with NHS and migrants.
If I understand things correctly: Mumsnet was on the side of Scargill and he was correct.
Mn also supported Remain, then Teresa May. Boris was so terrible he won't last. He will not win against Corbyn.
The 80 seat majority is not real it's a fiction spread by Murdoch Press or Daily Mail.
More CAPS ....... GET REAL........PLEASE

The country is a disaster. No public sector services working properly. Any Tory is a disaster and we've had many over our 12 year sentence.

It's a shit time to be LGBT+, work for or require use of the NHS, be working class, be disabled, be an immigrant amongst things. But I'm sure its quite naice at the moment for the pearl clutchers whining on about the markets and the economy who probably are glad to hear of the working class dying.

A good day to say - victory to the striking rail workers and victory to the working class.

The tories have had twelve years? That not enough time to ‘sort’ it?

Erm why wouldn’t Labour sort it out? Yes we’re in a pretty big mess, but I’m sure Labour could get us in a better situation than this current lot - they’d actually start investing some money in our public services for a start.

She also seems to be hard working and thinks outside the box which I think is a positive. I think she might be ok for women too. I'm sure she's said something in the past about the need to help with childcare costs - but might be mistaken..

Yeah, she was minister for childcare and Early Years when Michael Gove was Education secretary. You have her legacy to thank for the current situation, rather like Gove's has done for Education.

I can't actually think of any Government job she's had that she hasn't messed up. She was no good in Justice, either.

She doesn't think outside the box at all. She simply has no idea what she's doing.

If "hardworking", means foreign trips and photo opportunities, then yes she's done plenty of them. Actual achievements are harder to come by.

exactly. The tories have nothing left to offer and the rot has truly set in. We need someone fresh in charge.

stupidity is doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different result.

DdraigGoch · 20/08/2022 17:55

As long as she sacks Grant Shapps, I don't care.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 20/08/2022 17:57

Yes, but IMO there will very soon be a general election, and she’ll be out.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 20/08/2022 14:30

I like Liz Truss. She works hard, is sensible and has always done a better job than people expected.
of course, compared to intellectual giants like Rayner and Abboot, she’s a bit lacking.

Are you saying this because you think Raynor sounds a bit thick with her northern accent?

the80sweregreat · 20/08/2022 18:07

She will ( I hope) crash and burn
Along with the rest of them

bloodyplanes · 20/08/2022 18:12

Until there is another viable option this country will just ping pong between disastrous Tory government to disastrous Labour government and back again! They are all self serving liars. It doesn't matter who the tories elect in they will be out next election due to their complete ineptitude in the cost of living crisis as i stated above. The only way they won't get voted out is by apathy on the part of the general public who know that no matter who they vote for they will end up being stitched up somehow so they don't bother voting at all. We need a massive overhaul and someone new to vote for!

Not a mission. If they went to the polls now they'd lose. As it stands they have 2 years with a massive majority. 2 more years of incompetence, chaos, corruption and new exciting ways of fucking up the country.🙄

bloodyplanes · 20/08/2022 18:14

@Carpy88999 angela raynor's accent doesn't make her sound thick, her odious behaviour shows her as thick!

BluOcty · 20/08/2022 18:17

Yanbu! Bring on the general election!

Mumofsend · 20/08/2022 18:18

Theoretically truss makes Labour's life easier to get in power. Except Labour are also diabolical right now. Its picking between two mounds of turd

the80sweregreat · 20/08/2022 18:25

I'm not keen on either party , but the Tories have had 12 years and numerous leaders and it's all gone badly.
I agree about a new party on the block , but I can't see that happening any time soon.

Hahaha...yeah, that’s what we need!! Angela Rayner will sort our economic problems. Excuse me while I roll around on the floor laughing. You think Liz Truss will mess things up? Just let Labour loose. Corbyn would have bankrupted this country within five years.

If you’d prefer a socialist paradise, try Venezuela. There is plenty of room - mainly because everyone is desperately trying to leave.

Other than the scum comment which behaviors? She seems like a hard working woman who came from nothing and is proud of her working class roots. What's wrong with that.

I don't get comments like this anymore. Corbyn isn't even a labour politician so mentioning him now is totally fucking pointless and so is the socialist nonsense tories keep spouting. It's irrelevant to the current face of the Labour Party.

Ilovemycatalot · 20/08/2022 18:40

Sadly the snobs would never support a working class woman like Raynor. Unless your a toff with an upper class background your not deemed capable of doing the job.
