Taking kids into adult caffe at leisure centre

I've recently joined a huge gym/ leisure centre.

There is an area for kids, with tables and games etc.

There is only one caffe and today I took my DC there.

I have never seen other kids in the caffe. It's like they only hang out in the kids room with their parents.

I felt like I had a few looks. My toddler kicked off after a while and I left immediately, as not to disturb people. Normal procedure.

Kids are definitely allowed in the caffe. I find it a bit sad and telling of our society that other parents don't seem to take their kids in the caffe. Kids are part of life.

Would you just stay in the kid area ? Do you think it's rude to take your kids to the caffe ?

Is there a tiny tiny chance that you might have been jealous of the adults casually ending their gym session at the posh cafe without the hassle of wrestling a small hungry child?

Its definitely cultural. I would say it’s North European. Mediterranean, Arab, Turkish, Latin, African ect the kids are coming. And many of them will go out for really late dinners for hours.
It’s only recently that kids have started not going to Arab weddings, which generally start at ten PM. Actually I was at the dentist yesterday and a woman went in for her teeth with the baby breastfeeding. I was worried that one of the pointy things might hurt the child so I told them to bring him to me once he was half asleep.

Which you can do in some countries. I don’t know her but you can sort of.. swap kids around. I really don’t think you can do that in the UK because when I was at my sisters house her guests seemed very focused on their own kids and I went and picked up two and the mum said in Arabic to me that I just made her homesick. That’s why I think that it is cultural differences.
I never had my kids out till three or four in the morning at restaurants sleeping in prams but I think it comes from those countries being so hot people could generally only go out at night.

HOWEVER, I think kids are probably not allowed in gyms in case they get squashed by weights. Sometimes aren’t allowed to visit in hospitals.
er, that’s all I can think of actually. And I do think that it would be good to tell non Uk people about Britain having rules because them not knowing them causes a lot of resentment.

Mine had been in the crèche too. Crèche was closed at this point..

Why didn’t you take them in the gym rather than leaving them in the crèche? Did you not want to take them into the gym with you? They are part of society.
