To get a cat even though DH HATES them

DD (5) really wants a cat, she talks about one everyday, I am really open to the idea
and think it will be a good companion. DH hates them and will not budge. DD even asked if daddy could move out so we could get one.

Some of the responses to this are hilarious, obviously she wasn’t being serious about daddy moving out for a cat. Plus, the cat would probably help me put with the kids more than DH does 😂😂😂

@Luckyforyou . My DC would sell their father for a big bit of cake and some slime...DH has been told this before and has no doubt of his relative value 😁!

Even if your DD is serious and would actually swap her dad for a kitten if given the choice, it's not a particularly unreasonable stance in a child her age. Children that age are often self-centred little brutes willing to bulldoze any obstacles to what they want out of the way! My DC would think "Daddy can live in a tent in the garden and the kitten can live in the house" was a perfectly reasonable solution.

OP

You can build a tolerance to cats, I've met two vets who have gone through the process, because, well being vets in small animal practices they had good reason.

Why?

I dislike all animals and wouldn’t have one in my house. I agree hate is a strong word but people use hyperbolic language all the time.

it doesn’t make me a bad person because I don’t like them.

You ask why and then agree with me that hate is a strong word 😂

You ‘dislike’ animals, that’s fine - although I assume you’re speaking within the context of having one as a pet? Having a pet is obviously a personal preference and not wanting one is completely normal if it’s not your thing. But if your dislike extends to them existing as pets for other people, or in the world more generally, then yep - you’re a weirdo.
