To ask why all of the Queen's adult grandchildren have chosen to have kids?

Out of the Queen's 6 adult grandchildren, all of them have had children. AIBU to ask whether this is normal in terms of pretty every member of a family having chosen to have kids?

I have chosen to not have children so feel like if I was a member of the royal family I would be judged quite a bit on my choice to remain childfree.

Traditionalists will choose family/children
no money worries
no fertility access issues or constraints
will still be able to have any lifestyle they choose while having children
Partner extremely less likely to abandon children in case of break up

Me and best friend both 33 no children, her by choice me not by choice. You would in the calculations expect 1 in 5/6 not to have child/children but the royal family aren’t the general population.

I personally would find life very lonely and unfulfilling without mine

I genuinely find a response like this tragically sad. The idea of someone having a lonely and unfulfilled life until they’re 30/35 or whatever and have children.

My advice to you would be to start working on yourself now and learn how to cope on your own, and find fulfillment that’s not centered on other people. Your children won’t be with you forever and you need to make sure you’re not back in such a dark and lonely place when your nest is empty.

I think this a great response.

Such an unkind post and perspective.

@TwinklingFairyLightz unkind? As unkind as framing children as a massive inconvenience? Give me a break. Not one sentence of that was unkind or a personal attack on anyone. Many people say they couldn’t imagine having children, and no one takes offence. If you took offence thats on you. But if it’s about the dog thing, and you want a child but don’t have one then fair enough - not my intention. My beef is with those who harp on about how righteous they are for choosing to not have children.

....I'm just curious how someone who has decided to be consciously childless is even reading/posting on Mumsnet in the first place....! 🤔

Oh, not again. Do people who ask this question actually use Mumsnet? How can people miss the wide variety of topics and conversations that are not to do with parenting?

LovinglifeAF · 21/08/2022 17:47

I’ve never given this a second’s thought but surely it is very common?

my grandparents’ grandchildren all had children

my husband’s gran had 7 grandchildren and they all have children

given most people have children I can’t see how it’s unusual at all.

Because you don't have to pass an "I'M A MOTHER" test to get on so it's actually very easy. You don't need to be a Mom to have opinions on the Royal Family, or people's unreasonable behaviour.

And some would say the lack of critical thinking you display is a larger hindrance to intelligent Internet chatting
