Has anyone seen the recent tweet about her pawning/selling three diamond engagement rings? Aibu to think if you are pleading poverty and asking the general public to donate money one week and then showing off pictures of three massive diamonds you own the next, it's never going to go down well? Especially when you are already being challenged on lying and grifting?

For a long time I thought JM was nothing but a force of a good but I can't understand how she can be so tone deaf. It can't be deliberate but equally how can she not realise how it looks to produce three huge rings just a week after claiming she's so skint she needs handouts.

Apologies if there's already a thread on this.

The oncologist tweet was a particular low point.

I suppose the one saving grace is she's not one of those food bloggers who claims to feed a family of six on £5 a day, and when you click on the story you find that the person in question drives to five different supermarkets every day to buy the yellow-sticker items. I hate those ones.

Cloud9isnowclosed · 27/08/2022 20:14

They weren't posted at the same time. The sad/scared face preceded the oncologist post by a few months. This is quite often her MO -she'll breadcrumb sometimes to build a storyline and sometimes, I think, to bait.

OK, thanks. Do you have a link to when she first posted the photo or did she delete?

SweetSakura · 27/08/2022 21:07

No - this is another of her "tricks" . She said prior to shopping she had done a stock take. Her freezer is a treasure trove of gems - she was gifted loads of fish a while back, she bought a goats leg about 4 months ago and am not sure it was ever mentioned again. So she has a cupboard/freezer/larder store to draw upon that will not reflect the lived experience of the people she purports to help. It is another of her disingenuous and dangerous messages.

Yes a quick look at photos of her house shows she has shelves and shelves of different types pasta and spices etc etc.

Plus she has a large dog and there's no dog food on it.

No household items or toiletries.

So this is food for 2 ‘active’ adults and a teenager, for a week.

I challenge any one of her supporters to come up with a meal plan from that.

That is not a weekly shop. She has cupboards, fridge and freezer all stuffed with food as tweeted by her actual self.

catinboots123 · 27/08/2022 21:17

This was her last 'stocktake' of what she has in.

No wonder she can do a shop for 17 quid.

KermitlovesKeyLimePie · 27/08/2022 21:19

@catinboots123 I agree.

It's almost as if she has just wizzed round Asda and put random, cheapest own brand items in the trolley to come in at just under £20, irregardless of whether they actually constitute actual meals.

Surely not......................?

Bubblebubblebah · 27/08/2022 21:20

Bloody hell. That would put local corner shop' s stock to shame!

Bubblebubblebah · 27/08/2022 21:22

Honestly, with that stocktake 99.9% of people wouldn't need to shop for more than few tenners!

"Poor" my arse. Cooking for poor my arse. Living on £20 shopping my arse. This is just a game, isn't it.

Clymene · 27/08/2022 21:33

Why is she trying to pretend 3 people can live very well on under £20/week? I thought she was supposed to be really left wing. Telling the government that £20 is adequate for feeding a family on is a Tory argument surely?

Am I missing something? This is the sort of stuff I'd expect someone on the far right of the Tory party to come up with.

That aside, unless there's a meal plan, this is just performative bollocks.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 27/08/2022 21:57

I read a meal plan for 4 people for £10 for a week published in the Guardian in 2013 linked on the Tattle threads which broken down per portion is less than a hundred calories per meal for the soups (she's washed a considerable amount of the available ones down the sink of course).

Thesearmsofmine · 27/08/2022 22:00

This shopping for less than £20 thing is a piss take. That is just her going to grab whatever smartprice stuff is in stock to create a post on Twitter and gain some attention. It’s damaging because it perpetuates the myth that people can eat well on such a low income and others aren’t trying hard enough or are being feckless with their money..My local Asda is sold out of a fair bit of the range, there is no way I could write a list/meal and find all of the value items in stock, I would have to buy at least a few of the more expensive items.

ermagerdabear · 27/08/2022 22:04

There's no way on earth that stuff she's bought today would be a weeks shop for 3 people. She's got one solitary carton of long life milk, there's no toilet roll or washing powder or anything like that in there and where's the pet food for her dog and cat?!

Bubblebubblebah · 27/08/2022 22:09

There is someone on my timeline being properly outraged about this. But still very polite, concise, just pointing out it's
1-not all food shop for someone possibly (needs way more)
2-that it's supporting the rhetoric poor just need to budget themselves

Because she's a champion of the poor. They need to lose weight anyway.

KermitlovesKeyLimePie · 27/08/2022 22:18

Also why is she shopping for 3? when she is now single again and her Son is very much co-parented by her ex partner and spends 50% of his week with his Dad.

Another of her lies she had to admit to despite her banging on about being a single parent at every given opportunity.

She does love labelling herself and it is what ever label suits her narrative of the day, presumably to garner the most sympathy at any given time.

ermagerdabear · 27/08/2022 22:21

Is she hoping for some sort of sponsorship from Asda? All she's done is go round and fill her basket with the new yellow packaged stuff and yet there are people in the comments telling her how well she's done. Unless there's a proper, laid out meal plan it means fuck all. And no, we don't want another round of chickpea and peach curry thanks. Get another recipe fgs.

KermitlovesKeyLimePie · 27/08/2022 22:23

I also meant to say that now she has admitted that she is not poor and hasn't been for a long time surely this gives more weight to the idea that she is making a very nice little income from her online begging.

Hence not making any real efforts to get a job, instead using every excuse she can muster to avoid doing so.

Clymene · 27/08/2022 22:32

Is she being paid by Asda or hoping to get paid or something? Her gushing this afternoon about how much more she could get for her money than she used to was bizarre.

Bubblebubblebah · 27/08/2022 22:34

Someone just pointed out the price of the shop changed in every tweet today. Amongst other things

catinboots123 · 27/08/2022 22:40

The follow up to this will be ‘recipes’ for very small and low calorie meals with ridiculous pricing that also makes them very cheap.

I might pop to lidl for some bits tomorrow, shall I share my £20 shop of some cheese and things in jars. Will that help the poor of this country. Looks like someone is trying to fill their Twitter up with ‘work’ and other distractions to hide the criticisms.

Bubblebubblebah · 27/08/2022 22:45

I wonder if I could price beef wellington well under £1 per portion if I make sure the whole dish is only 250 cal 🤔

Wow! Now I know what she spends 100 hours a week doing. She really is the queen of busywork.

And my house is really well stocked with food. We could probably live several weeks without shopping. But my stockpile has nothing on hers.

I'm also sure the people who've sent her cash because she can't afford lightbulbs ade delighted to see she's got a freezer stuffed with monkfish, king prawns and red snapper.

WhereAreMyAirpods · 28/08/2022 00:03

So impoverished that she’s paying 2x20p for bags for life.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/08/2022 00:14

I thought that was a bit weird, too.
