Finding out something controversial about family member

Nc in case they’re on here considering this was a conversation today

Found out today a family member used to do something in the past that I believe is fairly controversial. I had no idea. I’m very strongly against the thing they did, and tbh think most (decent) people are.

no real indication they were aware I might be anti the thing they did. no indication of whether they’d ever do it again.

I’m really shocked and disappointed. I love this person but somehow can’t see them in the same way. I know people disagree about things obviously but I really, really feel like this is a conflict in core values…probably not making sense still just a bit 😨

We stayed in a holiday cottage in Somerset. The owner was such a lovely lady living just down the lane. She was a horsey person, and it became obvious from prints and pictures in our cottage that she was pro-hunting.

It did slightly change our opinion of her.

I like cheese scones with butter and apricot jam on them, so I have been excluded from polite society for years. I haven't missed it.

Steaming stamps off envelopes and reusing them.

I'm assuming foxhunting. Something they used to do but don't do anymore, and the OP doesn't know if they would do it again - I assume the implication is 'if they could.'

OK OP. Did your relative hang out out all day at the local M & S.
As they were so familiar with the layout they spent their time directing customers to the right place, as the staff were so rubbish.

In spare moments they were recommending the right wine to go with the steak.

unless you say what it is, you have started yet another pointless thread, because it could just be controversial to you, your family, your region, your upbringing and normal to others. Completely pointless.
