Anyone else sick to death of the heat?

I know there have been numerous threads on this already but OMG, I cannot taking this sodding heat any more. I actually feel sick today because it's so oppressive and I can't get anything done around the house, which is like a furnace. Normally it's like this for a few days in the summer before cooling again, but it's been about six weeks of intense heat now in the south-east.

It's looking like tomorrow is the last of it thankfully - I sodding well hope so.

Anyone else completely fed-up?

The only good thing about it is that at least we are keeping the heating bills down. However, I find this now becoming very scary and alarming, especially the speed at which things are happening. Let’s hope that action for the climate emergency becomes No 1 on the list again now that Covid has taken a back step, and Ukraine is going to be at war for a long time to come. Climate Emergency is here now, there really is nothing more important than finding solutions, not even the cost of living crises, brought about by our dependency on gas and fossil fuels. If nothing happens, the heat will only get worse.

I remember 1976 I was 5. People were frying eggs on their car bonnets and we filled up the paddling pool with bath water.

What's with all the southerners thinking 'up north' is some kind of ice bucket ?!

It's been 33 in Manchester for the past week!

CrunchyCarrot · 16/08/2022 00:38

Yes well and truly fed up with the heat! Especially from the evening on through the night, just so hard to sleep and feeling sweaty and uncomfortable. Added to that is the dry weather and poor garden suffering lack of water. Not sure we are done with it yet, though.

Blueskybird · 16/08/2022 00:42

I’m really struggling to function - I work as Cabin crew thick tights and polyester scarves is not fun!! And it’s very weird opening the doors back in the UK and it’s warmer than abroad!

I'm in Wales at a festival. We had thunder, lightning and torrential rain this afternoon. Normally, it would be awful, but it's such a relief.

That sounds like heaven!!! Lucky you. We had a sprinkle earlier. It was over before it began.

Outside my window you can see the local green, which terminology is currently an oxymoron, because it is a patch of yellow dried husky straw and dust. It will not revive with a mere sprinkle. We need proper rain and a terrific thunderstorm, but it looks like fat luck.

I can't sleep. Going crazy soon if this continues any longer😳

I'm in Lancashire and can't sleep as I'm too hot. Still Angry

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 16/08/2022 08:39

I’ve just woken up to a bloody clear blue sky again.

l thought it was going😭

DysonSphere · 16/08/2022 08:59

Yay got up this morning, and.... cloudy gloomy skies!! It's the coolest day in ages. My skin isn't so fetid and hot. Thank goodness, although last night was still muggy.

I'm praying it carries on like this going forward. I don't need anymore heat. Roll on September and proper autumn 🙂

I’m struggling 😩☀️ Feel sick with it now & had upset stomach on a few occasions

Barney60 · 16/08/2022 09:31

Rainbow milk, im same think im built for cooler months. This unbearable heat is only nice if your lying next to a pool with a drink in hand and no housework to be done.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 16/08/2022 10:47

It’s still roasting hot and sunny round me. It’s awful

the80sweregreat · 16/08/2022 10:47

Grumpybutfunny · 16/08/2022 10:57

Same here. My friend has also been complaining of stomach upset. Still humid and sweaty last night (in Essex). God, I'm so sick of being hot. I'm going to Oxford in October and cheer myself up by imagining walking through crunchy leaves wearing a scarf. I want to sit in Oxford coffee shops, and browse the bookshops, etc, in crisp, cold air. I cannot wait for the first perfect Autumn day: sun shining through brown leaves, the smell of bonfires, etc.

billy1966 · 16/08/2022 11:12

I am in Italy for a few weeks and it is hot, but we have the joy of air-conditioning here which we don't ar home, so that is a treat.

Sleeping better too.

The past month has definitely made me realise retiring to a sunny spot is not for me.

20-25 is as high as I really enjoy.

pigsDOfly · 16/08/2022 11:17

We've had some very welcome rain here today (East Sussex). It's cooled down considerably, such a relief.

Can't wait for autumn and afternoon walks with my dog. We'll be out this afternoon, in the rain if necessary.

Diamondsareforever123 · 16/08/2022 11:32

I like it TBH but can understand people finding it oppressive. I look at it this way - in a couple of months I'll be freezing because I won't be able to afford to heat my home, so I'm enjoying being warm now.

Bonjovispjs · 16/08/2022 11:51

Heavy downpour in London last night, was lovely, I sat at my open window and got wet😁Raining again now, but just checked weather and it's supposed to get hot again by the end of next week (28°)

needsbed · 16/08/2022 11:55

Rain in London at last! Can't remember last time it rained. But it still feels muggy.

OneTC · 16/08/2022 12:18

So sick of this rain, seems never ending 😭

Furries · 16/08/2022 12:50

Just had about 3 minutes of light drizzle - North Essex coast. The patio is already dry.

etulosba · 16/08/2022 13:06

I’m fed up with the rain already. I’ve got half done painting jobs to do outside.

tobee · 16/08/2022 14:21

Muggy here today but 10 day forecast says hovering around mid 20s. Due to get down to 13 degrees on Friday night.
