Anyone else sick to death of the heat?

sickofthisshite000 · 14/08/2022 15:09

I know there have been numerous threads on this already but OMG, I cannot taking this sodding heat any more. I actually feel sick today because it's so oppressive and I can't get anything done around the house, which is like a furnace. Normally it's like this for a few days in the summer before cooling again, but it's been about six weeks of intense heat now in the south-east.

It's looking like tomorrow is the last of it thankfully - I sodding well hope so.

Anyone else completely fed-up?

I love the summer. I love the warm sunny days. However, I'm completely done with this 90 degree business! I can't sleep. I can't get stuff done. Can't take the dogs out until late in the evening. I'm totally looking forward to the thunderstorms predicted for Tuesday. And I hate the rain. But bring it in!

OooohAhhhh · 14/08/2022 20:51

Yes, completely threaders with it. 39 weeks pregnant & all my feet/hands are swollen because of the heat & pregnancy combined.
It's supposed to rain from tomorrow tho & be cooler.

Dunnoburt · 14/08/2022 20:52

As soon as the rain falls I'm going out naked and dancing in it!........(my poor neighbours)😂

I found this, not sure how good it is:-

Sympathies to those about to give birth. Dd was born in July '95, which was incredibly hot too!

babymidgetgem · 14/08/2022 20:56

I'm so over it. I'm on Venlafaxine, which has made me ultra sensitive to the heat, and have been very very ill today. My DH has both M.E. and fibro and is totally wiped out. We go camping tomorrow, so glad it's going to be cooler!

Wouldn’t it be easier to just buy an aircon machine on Amazon? That’s what I’m going to do next summer.

Already did but it is only in 1 room so A bit limiting!

Nocaloriesinchocolate · 14/08/2022 21:00

I too hate it. I had a routine appointment at the hospital clinic today (yes, Sunday - extra clinic to help shift the waiting list) and it was heavenly cool. So naturally I was in and out in 30 minutes rather than the usual 2 hours!

There was a bbc news article about some medication making it worse. One of mine is on there, which somewhat explains how miserable this heat has been.

Hope to god it’s not a “lovely late summer”. Roll on autumn.

Holy fuck this is me! No wonder I hate the heat so much. I dream of winter but even on the coldest days I only wear a vest top with a coat. Bloody depression.

hookiewookie29 · 14/08/2022 21:04

Roll on autumn, my favourite season!
Redhead here, with menopausal sensitivity to the sun and a skin condition aggrevated by it....

@AtwilightRebellion Rojales, Alicante. Prices have gone up quite a bit since they bought theirs about five years ago but looks like I could still get a two bed apartment with a shared pool. Anyway, doubt me all you want. Couldn’t give a shit.

Ah, I know this small Spanish Village. 5 years ago prices would have been different. Though a house with a pool as you originally said is not the same as a 2 bed apartment with a shared pool. Not that you seem to give a shit about facts 😉

Just gone up to look at the River Thames. It's actually really lovely here; lights on the bridges, people out and about strolling hand in hand, the boats moored up. Tides out and the river looks like a mirror. Sat on an old bench, just a long from me someone is sat on a jetty reading a book in the light of a street lamp. Lots of Victorian/Edwardian buildings so I'm glad we're not dressed in stiff collars, pettticoats, hats and gloves and petticoats

Charl881 · 14/08/2022 21:24

I’m usually a sun worshipper but my god I’m ready for Autumn. This heat is just utterly draining. Still showing as 30 here all day tomorrow and then mid 20s in the week… I am desperate for a properly cool day.

AJ2009 · 14/08/2022 21:27

And it's going to get hotter and hotter every year.

The reality of climate change right in our faces now ☹️

BunsyGirl · 14/08/2022 21:33

@AtwilightRebellion but I didn’t say when they bought did I. So you know what you can do with your facts…

Your description is lovely!

RedRosie · 14/08/2022 21:44

Several people have said it's humid. It really isn't (although it was in July when the temp hit 40 in some places). It's a dry heat this time. So very hot obviously, but not humid!

SimonaRazowska · 14/08/2022 21:47

I love the heat when I am free, no work, no chores, just lie in the shade with a book and go for a swim. Dreams.

REALITY is I am working 5 hours a day and sweating behind my laptop and on zoom meetings. I am also hosting a guest for 10 days and need to do proper meals and thinking of ways to entertain them. Then my DSs (17,19) and DH (teacher) are all on holiday but they are just at home all the time and it means I have to work in the sweaty loft for peace and quiet

I am done with this! My dogs are fed up too

georgarina · 14/08/2022 21:47

I'm pregnant and was sick all day yesterday and extremely nauseous today. I'm hating it

autienotnaughty · 14/08/2022 21:57

I have no air con in the car. I literally feel sick every time I drive

I wonder whether should be described as "close" rather than humid? Not sure of the correct terminology.

Kateandherbush · 14/08/2022 22:00

I’m absolutely fucking sick of it and wish it would fuck off! I’d honestly rather have a year of winter than this horrid relentless heat for another day🥵🥵🥵

I love it and wish it could stay like this forever and ever

Don’t worry, you’ll get your wish. Climate change must seem a wonderful thing

I fantasise about a mini ice age like before, where the Victorians held frost fairs on the frozen River Thames

@Caramelsmadfuzzytail

how do you go on for work and stuff?

The clue should be that I'm agoraphobic.
