To think waking up having an orgasm is uncommon (women)

YABU - it happens to me
YANBU - never experienced it

Just that really. The male equivalent is so well known and talked about (I think it was even covered in either biology or PSHE at school!). I never realised the same could happen to women so was pleasantly surprised the first time it happened to me. It's not a common thing for me, averaging about once every 2 years since I was in my early 20s. Often when I have a full bladder, usually accompanied by an appropriate dream but not always.

Happens from time to time, the result of dreams. The intensity of them is incredible.

Yes, it's a very "pure" orgasm. Don't know how better to describe it really. Just very pleasant.

Interesting it happens to many in pregnancy. I wonder if it's like the full bladder - baby kind of pressing on the nerve endings.

I would laugh if this ended up in the daily mail 😂

It’s happened to me a handful of times and I’ve always liked it. Sometimes I’ll let it lead on to morning sex with DH

Sparklingbrook · 13/08/2022 07:52

If this does end up in the Daily Mail the comments section should be fun. Grin

35965a · 13/08/2022 07:58

Only a few times and I’m pretty sure most of the times I was pregnant.

CraftyClara · 13/08/2022 07:58

I woke myself up making little grunty noises. I think it’s due to a full bladder. I can usually make myself come by thinking about it though.

Thirdsummerofourdiscontent · 13/08/2022 07:59

I loved being pregnant, it was a regular occurrence then.

JustDanceAddict · 13/08/2022 08:01

Happens to me too but more so when I was younger, usually as part of a dream.

ijustcouldntthinkofausername · 13/08/2022 08:04

Never happened to me and I've never heard of this!! Strange

Wateringthegarden · 13/08/2022 08:05

It's happened to me, every few months for the last few years.

I'm 44, never had one IRL so I assumed that's why it was happening in my sleep.

I generally dislike it. Makes me feel a bit sick.

Furrybutts · 13/08/2022 08:05

Happens to me too, but only a handful of times in my life, and always with a full bladder.
First time I was about 14.
They are without doubt the best climaxes ever.
Never been able to replicate the sensation deliberately.

Sparklingbrook · 13/08/2022 08:06

I've had them often as dreams but never woken up by them.

georgarina · 13/08/2022 08:08

It happens to me when I'm pregnant pretty often but not otherwise

cookiecreammmpie · 13/08/2022 08:09

It used to happen frequently, usually if I haven't had an orgasm in over a week. Now I have one or 2 a year. I dream that I'm using my vibrator. Sometimes I'm on the verge of orgasm but don't actually climax and thats always accompanied by me dreaming that I can't find my vibrator or I need to masurbate but it's not the right time or place.

SonSonSon · 13/08/2022 08:16

Happens quite often. The most frustrating one was this week actually, I must have been tensing for ages in my sleep but no actual orgasm so woke up VERY distracted and frustrated. Then had to get up with the baby, get sorted for work etc feeling very annoyed and stimulated (for want of a better word) 🤣
Ive had sex dreams about my old boss who I was in no way attracted to. Seems to be random, but usually part of a sex dream. I don’t dislike it but really did dislike waking up like this the other day!

wheredidIleavemystyle · 13/08/2022 08:16

Happens to me occasionally and the feeling is amazing and very intense. Better than any real life sex I've ever had. I often think I'm awake. However I always wake up before the climax, very, very frustrating!

Acornacorn · 13/08/2022 08:21

This happens to me a few times a year. I like it :)

NewHopeNow · 13/08/2022 08:34

It happens to me if it's been a while since I have had one deliberately. Started when I was around 20. Not as strong as regular ones but not an unpleasant thing to happen.

MeridianB · 13/08/2022 08:35

Happens every few months. Wish it was every few days. It’s divine. I guess they are ‘wet dreams’?

MyHeartSings · 13/08/2022 08:36

It happens to me too, not regularly but always with a dream! I find it quite pleasant!

MaryBlighthouse · 13/08/2022 08:39

Happens to me when I am not having sex in my real life. I have very strong intense orgasms like this. Sometimes associated with a dream, sometimes I have a non sex related dream and unexpectedly orgasm in it! Like that scene from one of the Matrix films of the woman eating cake in a restaurant!

Paperdolly · 13/08/2022 08:42

AlmostAJillSandwich · 13/08/2022 02:01

It's also the only type that doesn't give me an almost guaranteed UTI.

AlmostAJillSandwich. Talk to your GP about treatment called Vagifem. Constant UTIs after intercourse with same, clean partner. Vagifem changed my life!!!

SavingsThreads · 13/08/2022 08:42

I have never heard of this happening to women - never to me certainly!

Does make you wonder though how different orgasms are for different people and whether we're all talking about exactly the same thing

CoalCraft · 13/08/2022 08:44

It's happened to me a few times but only when I've abstained from normal orgasms for a long time (similar to men I suppose?)

While pregnant masturbation and orgasms caused intense Braxton Hicks contractions, and it was contractions like that that caused my first DD to come early, so in pregnancy 2 I just swore off anything remotely sexual. Every four weeks or so though I'd still wake up from the female equivalent of a wet dream, mid-orgasm and indeed having contractions.

I agree that it wasn't particularly a nice feeling but then it was associated with anxiety, so...

MaryBlighthouse · 13/08/2022 08:45

JingsMahBucket · 13/08/2022 07:02

For the people who find it unpleasant, may I ask why?

I’m wondering this!

Notfancyfree · 13/08/2022 08:46

Once when I was a teenager and, unfortunately, sharing a room with my aunt.
