No alcohol
no toiletries ie razor blades

just food.

My DD was working from home. She showed ID and he said that couldn’t leave with anyone under 25.

Seems bloody daft to me.

Now got to arrange a re delivery but was for friends over… tonight!!

Yeah that's absolutely ridiculous, do they not accept under 25s as home delivery customers then?

Whatwouldscullydo · 12/08/2022 10:35

Sounds like they got confused with a think 25 policy. 🙄

If she has ID then they were clearly in the wrong.

Only if account holder apparently

QuebecBagnet · 12/08/2022 10:37

Yeah, I had my own home when I was 21yo. She could easily have been the home owner.

QuebecBagnet · 12/08/2022 10:37

Oh, x post. Seems bonkers. Tesco have left shopping with dd who is the same age.

PugInTheHouse · 12/08/2022 10:38

That's crazy, I had my own home by then, would they not have delivered? There must be lots of people who order food shopping deliveries, students, young people renting. Seems insane!

Whatwouldscullydo · 12/08/2022 10:38

So someone who's gonna nick your shopping is suddenly gonna be honest on their 25th birthday ?

What an odd policy.

ReeseWitherfork · 12/08/2022 10:38

There’s been a real increase in 24 year olds causing absolute anarchy with bags of carrots. Ultimately I think it’s the single biggest problem in society today and Waitrose are only being responsible.

Pugdogmom · 12/08/2022 10:38

That seems ridiculous. Especially if no alcohol. Under 25's live on their own and get deliveries! My 23 year old has taken deliveries from Asda/Tesco/ Sainsbury without issue, and she looks young for her age. They asked for ID when I had alcohol in the order which was fine.
I'd complain to Customer services.

PugInTheHouse · 12/08/2022 10:39

Ah, x posts. I wouldn't think anything of leaving 16 or 14 yo DSs at home to take tesco delivery in, it wouldn't cross my mind they wouldn't be allowed if there was no alcohol in the order.

QuebecBagnet · 12/08/2022 10:37

That would have been OK, because you'd have been the account holder. But if you were married to someone of the same age they wouldn't have been able to accept the order.

CredibilityProblem · 12/08/2022 10:40

The implication is that they would disallow the fairly normal practice of parents sending a grocery order as a gift to their student child.

Pugdogmom · 12/08/2022 10:41

Er....what? 🤣 Anarchy with carrots? I need more details on this...🤣

www.waitrose.com/content/waitrose/en/corporate_information_home/corporate_information/legal_notices/terms_and_conditions.html

Just checked terms and conditions. Doesn't say anything about not leaving shopping with under 25's. Just mentions age restricted products.

Endlesslypatient82 · 12/08/2022 10:45

The order was £43
the only thing that could be dangerous I suppose was the cabbage (lob someone over the head with it?!)

pain in the arse to reschedule and now have to grocery shop for tonight

waitrose - you are bloody annoying

Just spoken to DH who works for Waitrose delivery and the driver has made a mistake. Ring store as the driver has misunderstood training.

Endlesslypatient82 · 12/08/2022 10:47

But I’m going to use that to try for a goodwill voucher!!

Mischance · 12/08/2022 10:47

How did the delivery driver know that your DD was not you if he just had a name?

I rang Waitrose CS

shouldbi ring store direct?

Runnerduck34 · 12/08/2022 10:49

That's ridiculous!
I did have tesco? refuse to leave shopping with my teenager, 17, that was annoying enough but refuse to leave shopping with an adult?!?

Sirzy · 12/08/2022 10:49

I would tell them to cancel the order and shop somewhere with a sensible policy. If she had no ID I could almost understand it (but not really with no restricted items) but with proof it’s a nonsensical policy

IsletsOfLangerhans · 12/08/2022 10:50

DH says better to ring store direct as the message will get through faster.

Endlesslypatient82 · 12/08/2022 10:52

On hold now

last thing I need!!!
