Porn culture has led to women suffering injuries during sex

Doyoumind · 12/08/2022 10:01

Apart from all the violence etc porn portrays as normal, anal sex is definitely treated as an everyday thing that women enjoy. I don't personally. I know some women claim they do but I've certainly known men who pressure for it and I'm guessing it's only got worse in the years since I was dating.

This article suggests women are unknowingly entering into something that can cause serious injuries.

I would be genuinely interested to know how many parents would consent to their daughters being able to attend a session at school discussing the risks and benefits of anal sex.

I know this kind of survey isn’t a possibility but it’s something that interests me.

Thankfully consent from parents isn't required in secondary

As unfortunately as seen on this thread many want to bury their heads in the sand and are happy for their kids to join them

DirectionToPerfection · 13/08/2022 12:12

Why don't you understand that for some women the enjoyment from anal sex is enough to warrant the small risks to their health.

And why can't you grasp that for most women that risk is unacceptable, and we don't want our daughters growing up thinking it's expected as part of a normal sex life.

I expect that the majority of women who have had anal sex did it to please a partner, rather than because they wanted it themselves. It's not generally pleasurable for a woman, and anyone with a reasonably knowledge of the female anatomy will understand why.

PollyRockets · 13/08/2022 12:07

Do you think only telling children

Don't have children, you'll get ripped from your front to your back, it hurts and most women never fully control their bladders ever again

Is scaring them?

As that's what that poster was doing

Only presenting the negatives of a situation

What would be responsible is telling children

Childbirth carries many risks, such as tearing, doing X exercises and delivering in Y position can help reduce this risk. As does pushing for a C section if you are at risk of a very large baby and overdue requiring an induction. Many people find children worth the pain they go through, some don't.

I think you need to work on your reading comprehension.

The issue is your second paragraph

It's not up to you to decide what your daughter finds pleasurable or not.

It doesn't matter if it's not worth it for you. It's not worth it for me either, that doesn't mean the women who do find it worthwhile are dirty, perverse, disgusting or whatever judgemental shit has been posted on here.

What isn't acceptable is shaming those who do enjoy it. It's also not acceptable to want to keep girls especially ignorant to how to practice safer anal sex.

25% of women have anal sex. There is a strong likelihood that many peoples children will give it a go.

Would you prefer her to know you need to be lubricated to high heavens and your partner has to go slowly to allow the muscles to relax or let the guy she is with who has got his ideas from porn shove it in because neither of them know any different?

DirectionToPerfection · 13/08/2022 12:16

Nobody is shaming anyone for crying out loud.

I also would like to see that 25% figure backed up.

Yes, where does the 25%figure come from please? Also, are we talking about females or does this include transwomen who may have different physiological concerns?

Small risk. Well read the IBS threads. Being confined to the house, not eating, taking immodium daily. Planning trips out around loos, carrying radar keys, never mind all the intrusive uncomfortable procedure the NHS carry out.

It takes over your life, damages mental health. All for sexual pleasure. I don't think so.

So teachers could talk to 11-12 year olds about the pleasures of anal sex without telling the parents they’re going to do it?

If it's added to the national sexual education curriculum yes

You don't think posters on this thread saying the girls that do this are disgusting, it's perverse, gross and whatever else @Miffee and @excitingusername has come out with isnt shaming people?

You don't think categorically not believing women who say they enjoy it, they are brainwashed, pick me's, misogynists isn't shaming them?

Christ you need to work on your reading comprehension.

sunglassesonthetable · 13/08/2022 12:23

I suppose I also am challenging the idea that something is mainstream because a lot of men seem to want to do it. If a lot of women don't want to do it it isn't really mainstream because women are half the population.

It's more like the 'expectation' has become mainstream, to men and women because of porn.

Probably the same amount of woman like it as always have. I've no idea what that is but guessing it's a minority. ( annececdotal, personal experience, this thread )

Throw in the risk of actual harm and it's a problem.

@gnilliwdog

PollyRockets · 13/08/2022 12:24

@gnilliwdog 'twas quoted earlier in the thread but here you go, many studies actually see more than 25% for women (some even up to 37%!)

sunglassesonthetable · 13/08/2022 12:29

Focus on the damaging influence of porn and it's misogyny in school education. Campaign against damaging porn, like smoking - make it expensive and difficult to access and stigmatise it's use. Create support groups for women who have been damaged by men who use porn. Campaign for public awareness advertising of the risks to women's health. Campaign for advertising around positive sexuality and relationships and what this looks like regarding mutual respect and care. The media and tech could be used positively to create positive messages rather than misogyn

All for this. Especially the first line. But I'd whack that under 'Education'

I did not mention childbirth

In the same way I didn't mention 'obscure'

No-one is shaming anal sex lovers on this thread. You must be projecting.

Presumably anal sex lovers are over 18 and therefore adults? As such, they will make their own choices, most likely laugh at this thread and get on with whatever it is that they do.

Using manipulative gaslighting language as you have done in multiple posts is not cool. You think we are shaming anal lovers? 🙄Sexual shaming and humiliation of women takes place in porn, porn reenactment and in abusive relationship. Not on this informative MN thread.

DirectionToPerfection · 13/08/2022 12:36

Maybe I've missed it but I haven't seen anyone post that girls who have had anal are disgusting. I certainly don't agree with that.

I just find these cries of "we're being shamed" on an anonymous internet forum a bit silly, when the far bigger issue is the normalisation of a harmful act, and the pressure girls are under to perform it against their will.

A minority of women may like it but most don't, and that needs to be respected. It's not fair that men keep pushing women's boundaries further and further because they're becoming desensitised to regular sex.

Then you haven't RTTF

It's silly to sit there and claim with such certainty people haven't shamed anyone when they definitely have.

One even admitted it a minute ago.

@ClaroNormale

Did you miss @excitingusername admitting to shaming people just a few posts back?

All of those things I listed have been said on this thread

Do you not consider that shaming people?

AdamRyan · 13/08/2022 12:50

Really I don't care if people feel hurt that I'm pointing out their sexual practices are risky.
Hurt feelings are not as much of an issue as physical damage.

There have been some shaming posts ages back but the majority are informed and not shaming.

You however polly seem to think its acceptable to call people with a different opinion to you stupid, with poor comprehension etc. That's pretty insulting too.
