To think Apple is far superior to android?

In terms of iPhones are better than android? Is it true that androids are less secure and more likely to have viruses? And that they crash and become unresponsive a lot? I have an iPhone but DH has an android and I can’t even use it, I hate it

I much prefer Apple. Would never go back to Android or Windows products now.

DinosaursEatMan · 08/08/2022 21:54

I have a work Android, one in a long string of bloody awful ones (pretty sure the management hate us) and curse it daily. The screen freezes all the time, apps stop working, it takes forever to connect to Wi-Fi, and insists it’s not available when my own iPhone connects quite happily. I would love to smash it to smithereens.

PoolSquid · 08/08/2022 21:54

Better supply chain auditing against suppliers using slave or child labour (android prices are too good to be possible without turning a blind eye to both of those)

You realise you're comparing a manufacturer with an operating system?

Nat6999 · 08/08/2022 21:57

I've had both, I had iPhone when they first came out & then swapped to Android & I prefer Android, they don't seem so rigid in apps, the way they work, I can use unlicensed apps & in the earlier ones I could expand memory with a card. My mum has an ipad & I hate it, I have a galaxy tablet & the picture is better, it is faster & doesn't get clogged up like an ipad.

VeryQuaintIrene · 08/08/2022 21:57

Team Android here. I have a great Android phone for under $200 that I bought outright and it should last several years. There's no way I would buy an iPhone outright because they are just too damn expensive, plus issues of control that PPs have mentioned. If I had an iPhone, I'd have to do it on a contract and I love not having one or paying them lots of money each month (am in the US, and the costs with the major companies seem extortionate to me).

hangrylady · 08/08/2022 21:57

I don't know if iPhone is better but I do know that I'm not paying for one! As long as I can, call, text, take photos and go online and it costs less than £20 a month, I couldn't care less.

Apple phones are all ridiculously overpriced and appear to have been designed deliberately to run more and more slowly over time and for the battery to run down far too quickly. Phones running an android OS are vastly superior imvho - you can actually choose how much money you are willing to spend on them, depending on the spec you want, and what make of phone. There is nothing counterintuitive about the android OS whatsoever - perfectly logical and easy to understand, and preferable if you are used to a PC rather than an Apple Mac, as android is more similar.

HelloThereObiWan · 08/08/2022 21:58

You're just paying for the nice Apple picture on your phone with an iPhone. You're not getting anything that is more reliable or better quality, it's just different.

I always go for the Google phones so I can have pure Android with no bloatware from Samsung, OnePlus etc. Makes it a much smoother experience in my opinion.

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 08/08/2022 21:58

I love my iPhone. I tried switching to android once and I'm pretty sure it gave me hives.

Battery wise - this newest phone is amazing. I have the 13 pro plus and it can go 36ish hours off one charge.

TealAndTurquoise · 08/08/2022 21:59

I've used android for years and find it simple to use and all the phones I've had have worked really well. I got a Google Pixel 6pro a few months ago and I love it. Lots of storage and the camera is fantastic. They've just bought out the Google 6a which is cheaper than the 6pro but has a lot of the same functionality. I have an iPhone for work and I hate it. I don't find it intuitive to use and the battery runs down so quickly even when I've hardly ever used it.

QuestionableMouse · 08/08/2022 21:59

I think iPhones are over priced shite. Always had android and never had any problems!

HoppingPavlova · 08/08/2022 22:00

I’ve got an iPhone. Piece. Of. Shit. It freezes constantly and gives me nothing but grief and battery is not the best. My work devices are Apples so it was just easier to have personal phone as Apple so I could synch certain stuff across. I’d take Android in a heartbeat if it was feasible. My iPhone is an 11 and went downhill really fast.

Nat6999 · 08/08/2022 22:02

My Samsung S21 ultra is 18 months old & still feels like new, an IPhone feels clapped out at 18 months, the battery life is shocking.

I have the XR, it freezes so I can't swipe all the time or the top left corner goes blurry a lot and I have to restart the phone and I have to charge my phone 2-3 times a day whereas his battery will last him two days

You clearly have a duff and broken phone.

TheSmallAssassin · 08/08/2022 22:04

I love Tasker too, @MarsupiIami , though several of my profiles have ended up becoming part of Android anyway.

Googlecanthelpme · 08/08/2022 22:05

I’m Apple all the way, it’s not just the phone itself though, it is the convenience and the integrated tech.

Take AirPods for example - I never have an issue with mine. I love them. As earphones go they are elite level. I have had so many pairs of wireless earphones over the last decade and none come close to the experience of AirPods. They just fucking work.

in a world where you have to spend time trying and failing to connect Bluetooth earphones to your phone every single time you want to use them - AirPods just changed the game.

and the fact when you buy a new iPhone or iPad it all just works - no logging in, no faffing. Just put it next to your old phone and hey presto it’s done. The fact it updates your new credit card in wallet without drama and then saves your card details to prepopulate for online shopping. Saves all the passwords, connects everything to “Find My” app.

i love the phones but it’s the way that all the tech works together that sells it for me.

I absolutely loathe my samsung work phone. It feels incredibly slow and antiquated, it’s only 2 years old!

Stabbitystabstab · 08/08/2022 22:05

Android by Miles
No ridiculous chargers, just micro or for the newer ones USB C
Lots of features started on other devices then were adopted by apple with great fanfare, like face recognition, waterproofing etc (I've used my Samsung in the shower for years)
I've never broken a Samsung. I don't even bother with screen protectors, they kick around in my handbag with keys and crap and barely get a scratch, yet it seems every other iPhone I see is smashed.
I can sync across my devices with Google or Samsung sign ins.
I don't like how tied in you are to apple.
I'll never go to the dark side 🤣

OldWivesTale · 08/08/2022 22:06

I've had both. Prefer my Samsung.

SparrowsNest · 08/08/2022 22:06

Personally I love my Samsung Galaxy android phone - great battery life, never crashes, masses of storage and brilliant camera.

Try a soft reset,
It doesn't delete anything off your handset.
Quickly press volume up, quickly press volume down then press and hold the power button until you see the Apple log.
Then monitor , may be worth contacting apple otherwise Smile

emma1103 · 08/08/2022 22:07

Had both, hated the iPhone, much prefer Samsung

sanityisamyth · 08/08/2022 22:08

I love my iPhones. I tried a Samsung Galaxy once just before DS was born. It had the swelling battery issue and was the biggest piece of shit. Every time I tried to take a photo of DS it would turn off. I have NO baby photos of him. iPhones just WORK!

Hollahere · 08/08/2022 22:08

Apple are experts at marketing to the gullible, as this thread proves.

rainbowandglitter · 08/08/2022 22:08

I have Android. Its never crashed once.

Stabbitystabstab · 08/08/2022 22:08

Gosh
Aren't we tribal? 😄
