Random men carrying tampons is weird

Just seen a conversation on twitter with men talking about carrying tampons and pads to be helpful if they come across some woman who might need one. I thought it was weird - or am i the weird one?

One reason he might say people who menstruate is because he wasn't thinking of supplying sanitary products to people (including women) who don't need them.

Well then he could have said women who menstruate which would have differentiated that group from the women who don't menstruate. As I don't menstruate I am unlikely to ask a stranger for sanpro so he would only be supplying them to women who menstruate. I am hoping he wouldn't be randomly offering them to women without being asked which would be the only scenario in which his sanpro supplies would be offered to women who don't need them.

Men don't need to be involved with every part of women's lives, it's more boundary pushing.
It's only nice if it's asked for

womaninatightspot · 06/08/2022 21:19

I’d find this a bit odd but has anyone else noticed how san pro is everywhere nowadays. Maybe a Scottish thing but all the public loos I’ve been in over the last week had a decent supply.

My husband and his male housemates kept a box of tampons in their uni house bathroom in case one of their female friends/girl friends or a one night stand needed them. I always thought that was great. Can’t see the problem 🤷🏻‍♀️

Why tampons to “help in an emergency?”. Most women who use tampons need them 4 or 5 days a month. Maybe a few days more. Why not carry bottles of water? People, not just women, need water every day. You’re statistically more likely to come across someone who needs water than someone who needs a tampon.

😂😂

Never in my life have I ever come across someone who needed water and couldn’t just get some themselves.
You can go hours without water.

However I have been asked multiple times if I have any Sanpro by women.
If you’re flooding or irregular then you want a tampon pretty soon.

Never been asked by another woman for any tampons or pads. Ever. Maybe I’ve only been around those who are smart enough to carry some with them wherever they go, it’s not difficult. Especially so if you’re prone to flooding or irregular. Give us women some credit to know what to do for our bodies and how they work.

I didn’t mean water as in ”someone about to die of thirst” and you know it. Don’t try and be funny. Have you never seen anyone needing to take medication urgently? Getting too hot? Starting to panic in a lift or other enclosed space? Coughing badly and needing some water? No? Just flooding women with no pads or tampons in their bag then? Sure…

What if a woman identifies as a transgender man but still menstruates? He would be a “person who menstruates” this is to do with a persons pronouns and how they identify. By saying only women menstruate is definitely not inclusive

That's fine and hospitable - I have sanitary towels in my bathroom for guests even though I don't use them.

I don't 'carry' them around with me though - that's the weird bit.

I always keep some in my bag in case I need some. I don't expect my male acquaintances to do this thinking for me.

Wow this is so grossly offensive, what the actual fuck?

Quit with the dramatics.

No, it’s not offensive. It’s an opinion.

You chose to be offended. A choice you can quite easily reverse.

MsBallen · 06/08/2022 21:27

It's creepy and weird af.

Not a single woman would ever go up to a random man and ask for tampons.

What woman would want to insert something a strange man has been carrying around with him?

As no woman would ever approach a man for tampons does that mean he anticipates asking women if they want one or loitering around women's loos?

That's not the same thing at all. That's just called hospitality.

The headspace given to this stuff must be exhausting. Only if we tied ourselves into knots to this extent, over important stuff, we might have found life in another galaxy by now.

Ikeasucks · 06/08/2022 21:28

Had no idea if any of those claiming to be men were female actually. And I just wanted to avoid the thread on twitter to be piled on. I was just curious as to whether women found it weird 🙂

@sleepingstandingup

Not in jest at all, but seeing as I was going to have to otherwise postpone the meeting to drive to a shop it was worth an ask.

As grown up men with wives and daughters it's not beyond the realm of possibility that they'd have something their car. Which he luckily did.

lemmein · 06/08/2022 21:31

And when the NHS advise men to get their prostate checked it's not inclusive to transwomen - no-one seems to care about that though. It's almost like 'inclusivity' isn't the agenda 🤷🏻‍♀️

Why did you delete the name? You know if you search for the conversation Twitter brings it up, standard.

So, was this some attempt at bringing trans people into a conversation given the original poster is he / him but biologically female? Yawn.

Last post was to this

It's a fetish. It's something that Jessica Yaniv does and talks about a lot.

"If I'm in a bathroom and a girl starts her first period should I just offer her a tampon or should I show her how to put it in?" sort of thing

Personally I've never had to borrow a tampon in a public toilet - I'd just use loo roll and then nip to the nearest chemist. I have borrowed one off a (female) office colleague - once.

I think these men are really hoping that some girl will ask them an that that will somehow confirm them as women. There are men who are aroused by menstruation, to the extent of feigning periods.

AccountDeleted · 06/08/2022 21:31

You are correct but this is how the younger generation live now they have to be so careful not to offend it is indeed exhausting

Oh look. Another kind hearted, polite progressive. Come on now, practise what you preach and be kind.

@Johnnysgirl

So do I normally, but in this case I hadn't. Accidents happen.

Woman just means adult human female. Its inclusive of all and no identities.

Theres no such thing as a woman or man identity. You are either an adult infant or juvenile male or female. Which is what man/boy woman/girl mean

Correct but get ready for someone to insist they do/we should/ all men are marvellous and women are just not giving them a chance

Thank God it is. I joke with DH he never has to worry about me cheating when we’ve witnessed some form demasculated men in the wild.

I think it was the bunch of university aged men who squealed (not an exaggeration- these guys could have rivaled any woohoo woman in a bar) in line at Starbucks because the pumpkin spiced lattes were available.

of course what others see as toxic masculinity I just see as guys doing their thing. But whatever.

I actually pity you

RenegadeMatron · 06/08/2022 21:33

I have never - not once - asked a woman, let alone a transwoman or a man for sanpro, if I have been caught out.

I have silently and privately improvised with loo roll until I was able to get to a shop or get home.

I have never involved another person in my unexpected menstruating. And I strongly suspect 99% of women are just like me.

I have never been asked for sanpro, either.

Pretty sure they're male....and a bit thick 😬
