Not really my AIBU, but whilst it was quite amusing for 10 minutes the mexican stand off outside my house is starting to do my head in

Live in a small village, with small lanes, our lane is pretty narrow but the only straight one that the farmers can use to access the fields at the bottom.

The two farmers who own the land are two brothers who fell out when their parents died years ago, and have not spoken since.

Brother A coming up the lane with his combine. Brother B coming down the lane with his tractor and trailer, neither will reverse to allow the other to pass, this has now been 20 minutes and all I can hear is horns beeping, and the farmers shouting insults at each other via a third party (one of our neighbours) cars are having to reverse back onto the village green and access via another lane.

Here for the updates. What a ridiculous situation. Can't the police just pick one and tell him to move? Then charge both of them with disturbing the peace?

What are the police doing about it?

This feels like a time for local justice. Make the perpetrators appear at a special meeting of the parish council to be given a dressing down and a laying down of the law.

Around here the combine wins 90% of the time, the only time it would give way to the tractor trailer is if it was right next to a pull in where it could get off the road completely and back on again easily.

Police have now threatened to arrest them both, couple of problems they refuse to come out of their cabs and the police on scene have never driven a tractor or a combine local has offered if they get them out, but according to police would not be insured so police sending for officers proficient in these vehicles.

DH day off has been golfing just messaged him to say park at the pub, his reply so I can have a few pints, you can but the pub will be nearly empty as most of the village is on our street watching this

They have had showdowns in the past one christmas in the village pub comes to mind, and not sure it's a special skill set because we are so rural machinery gets nicked so police have people who can actually drive them apparently have done a diagram but how the hell do I post it on here?

I love that you live in an area where the police can rustle up a couple of officers who can drive big farming equipment. Who knew?

Having been police staff, there will currently be an ALL USER email going out, and control getting on Airwave to beg for someone who knows how to do this!

I've had ones for various language skills before from the all user email address, but never one for a tractor driver! The force I worked for does have a marked tractor for rural crime, so there will be an officer somewhere who can drive one
