Wtf. I know that he hates it but he's got nothing to go to.
We stupidly have no savings as we've just moved house.
I'm sure he'll find something but he just announced it over coffee. Arghh!

What job that pays £100K pa has a one week notice period? I can only assume that he was still in probationary period and has walked before he didn't pass probation. Otherwise nothing stacks up.

🙄

probation

Happyandyouknowit82 · 01/08/2022 17:06

oh sorry didn’t mean to put an 🙄!!

@Happyandyouknowit82 - not trying to 'defend' OP here, but on the note of renting, I actually have some friends who have a high income who rent. They have been in the UK for 15 years and will remain here until their kids finish school here. They are European, so renting is much more the norm culturally. They also spent a good few years unsure if they were going to remain in this country or move home, and now find themselves (despite the high income) priced out of family houses in the area of London they know and love, so they prefer to keep renting....

Also

hands up serious nosiness here

how come you rent? You started multiple threads on the rental home you’ve moved in to recently and plan to stay for at least 5 years, and fact that you were renting previously. So long term renter.

just curious why a high income two salary family is renting? Nosiness!

Answering for the OP with what I think might be her answer...

no deposit?

Depending on location they might need £40K-£50K deposit (10% ) and she says they have no savings.

dickiedavisthunderthighs · 01/08/2022 17:12

@Happyandyouknowit82 Ah sorry, I missed that post from the OP. In my experience if someone's probation is extended then generally it's just HR ticking the 'improvement plan' boxes before letting them go. I guess he thought it was better to walk that have a reference saying that he didn't pass probation.

same here with friends too.

Lochnessgiraffe · 01/08/2022 17:13

His health has vastly improved since we moved. Less stress.

We rent because we both lived overseas and are now priced out. We can rent our home but not afford to buy it.

I don’t think she actually clarified it was probation (not big on detail our OP!)

I was just saying a reason

Silverswirl · 01/08/2022 17:15

Lochnessgiraffe · 01/08/2022 11:57

No he definitely quit he wfh so I'm aware what's been going on.

Unless you are his boss, no you don’t know what’s going on. Only what he has shown / told you.

She did say upthread that his probation was being extended, I just missed it 😖

OP if this has come out of the blue to you then you need to talk to him about why he felt he couldn't tell you that things weren't going well for him.

How did moving to another rental wipe out your savings, op? Lots of posters were assuming you'd just bought a property. That's certainly how you made it sound.

Happyandyouknowit82 · 01/08/2022 17:20

I will take a punt op

you didn’t know about Advanced Search before you started this thread, did you? 😂

Lochnessgiraffe · 01/08/2022 11:57

You didn't know he'd quit though ?

No he definitely quit he wfh so I'm aware what's been going on.

But then later you say I'm not furious just annoyed he didn't discuss it before he quit today.

so what is it op? You were aware or your weren’t aware?

dickiedavisthunderthighs · 01/08/2022 17:26

newbiename · 01/08/2022 17:22

You didn't know he'd quit though ?

Right so you wfh so know what's been going on except you had no idea that the job wasn't going well and him resigning came out of the blue over coffee with no discussion.

And his health is absolutely fine except last month he was at high risk of heart failure.
Oh AND according to AS (your nemesis now I suspect) he got offered a new job in October and then started a new one in January and now he's having his probation extended in I assume another job.

Johnnysgirl · 01/08/2022 17:28

Oh dear, op. I think you've been busted.

MsRosley · 01/08/2022 17:36

Look, someone can only legitimately pull the 'no discussion' card if it concerns something that will not impact the person in any way whatsoever. Otherwise that person is controlling you and your life.

Don’t forget the dh also has a disability

and that the Op recently jacked in her own job without anything lined up

AS has managed to fill the void that Neighbours has left.

Whadda · 01/08/2022 17:47

Advanced search has also sucked me in.

OP, you haven’t been with this man for long and don’t share children or property. He’s lied to you and not consulted you in an important decision.

Is he really someone you want to be with?

Johnnysgirl · 01/08/2022 17:53

Advanced search has also sucked me in.
"Can I sue my neighbours if my dh dies from stress?" 😬
What a life you lead, op.
