Love this program, I am definitely Julia with a hint of Liz..... we have an identical to Amanda in our school..

AIBU to ask which character you relate to the most and why?

The swimming pool party was my favourite.

It’s excellent TV, I binged watched all 3 seasons over lockdown and then watched all 3 seasons again. Sharon Horgan is an excellent writer, best we don’t mention the other hated Irish writer of the show though. 😉

Hated by whom exactly?

Itsbritneybitch22 · 31/07/2022 19:01

For sure I’m Liz but don’t drink! I love Amanda and couldn’t be around Julia, ever she’s too selfish and all over the place.
She almost put me off watching at 1 point but I love it too much to switch off.

I’m impressed to discover I’m a Meg, which I wasn’t expecting.

I really felt for Amanda once I saw the way her mother treated her - a priceless episode.

I’ve known two Kevins, several Amandas and far too fucking many Julias. I found her totally inability to remember anything and be organised so irritating, especially when she was trying to use everyone around her rather than own her mistakes.

Fun in a sitcom, absolutely awful in a human being.

I both wanted to hug Anne and rescue her. Self esteem, chick!

Egglantina · 31/07/2022 19:03

The school gate mums would have me pegged for Amanda but my friends would have me down for Meg.

No mum left behind 👊🏻

God I absolutely love motherland!!!
I love Julia because she just doesn’t GIVE A FUCK 😆also Liz.

Agree “the let down” and “workin moms” on Netflix worth watching.

“Mandy” with Diane Morgan who plays Liz in motherland is really fucking hilarious.

Did they remove it from iplayer as Graham Linehan got cancelled??🙄

No, he stepped back after Series 1, I believe.

Beansandtoasties · 31/07/2022 19:09

I'm more of a Kevin. He seemed like he was trying to be a good parent and keeping up with the latest mummy trends. Is anyone else a Kevin? I guess that's something Kevin would ask. Ha!

limitededitionbarbie · 31/07/2022 19:13

@Ponoka7

Mandy is really funny I loved that. Have you watched Here we go in iPlayer. That's quite funny and an easy watch too.

I am 100% Anne - a bit dippy, a nervous wreck, an incurable people-pleaser and prone to end up being a total doormat, but although I'm not quite head of product development for Glaxo Smithkline (I loved it when she dropped that bombshell), I do get raised eyebrows when people find out how highly qualified I am.

I'd completely forgotten about that, that reveal was a stroke of genius. Brilliant Grin

limitededitionbarbie · 31/07/2022 19:17

I've just done that quiz I am Kevin Confused

BerthaBetty · 31/07/2022 18:59

The swimming pool party was my favourite.

Same here. Especially when Julia see's her mum in the pool and shouts across "that's not even exercise" because her mum's swimming so slowly and had refused to baby sit that day because 'she had plans'.

Palamon · 31/07/2022 19:20

I’m Julia’s husband. Always skiving off and getting away with it.

NoddyMcdoddy · 31/07/2022 19:26

The MN feminists

Purplepatsy · 31/07/2022 19:26

Julia is just such a mess. Buying heels for Ivy, taking the children to school at half term, always wanting to palm them off onto anyone who will have them.

Anne is so well meaning - I love her Irish lilting voice, but such a doormat. She might as well lie down in the road and let Amanda walk over her.

Liz is the best - practical and organized but with elastic morals.

NoddyMcdoddy · 31/07/2022 19:27

That was in reply to MissAtomicBomb1

lucielou82 · 31/07/2022 19:31

Julia gets on my tits and then I realised it's because I'm exactly like her! (Aside from the quite hot, annoying husband and huge house in north London)!

AnneOfCleavage · 31/07/2022 19:33

Love the show. DD got me into it last year and i binge watched the lot then was delighted to see a Christmas special last Christmas.

Just did the quiz and i'm Meg - no mum left behind is a motto I live by too. DD was delighted to be Kevin 😂

We loved that we discovered recently that Anne plays Claire's mum in Derry Girls and is a scary dragon mum. Very different to the meek Anne.

Diamondsareforever123 · 31/07/2022 19:47

TBH I think it's all middle class problem issues as a joke and getting boring. First season good then it went same old same old.

Primatrying · 31/07/2022 19:48

Did the quiz and got Anne. I suspect there's also some Kevin.

I'd rather be Amanda than Julia. Julia is soooo vile and selfish and the chaos she brings makes me stressed just watching her. I nearly stopped watching after episode 1 because I found her so obnoxious and entitled.

lucielou82 · 31/07/2022 20:02

Has anyone watched The Let Down on Netflix! I loved that show... it got me through having my baby in lockdown! Was so relatable x

PeaceandLoveandCoffee · 31/07/2022 20:05

Love the series too.

I had myself down as a total Kevin but got Meg in the quiz. And agree with @Primatrying re. Julia, she's so selfish and disorganized. At least Amanda is unapologetic and quite open in how self centred she is.

It's west London - my kids go to the same school so not only am i Julia, when i watch it i get to see her parodying my actual life

LadyLothbrook · 31/07/2022 20:13

I just remembered how much I laughed at that scene with Anne in the pool talking about her grandmammys earrings and she's just gabbing away with her tit out 🤣 Anne's the best.

LadyLothbrook · 31/07/2022 20:15

Omg when Julia is getting anxious at the parents evening and asks all the mums to back up followed by 'it's not the antiques roadshow' 🤣🤣
