Love Motherland!!

Dh went to school with Kevin.

Lalliella · 30/07/2022 16:56

Ooh goodie a Motherland thread, love it! Anne is my favourite, love that she started standing up to Amanda a bit more.

Where’s that online quiz, please link someone!

Nordstrom · 30/07/2022 16:56

I once had a friend who was Liz crossed with Julia. Got fed up with using ways in the end!

Nordstrom · 30/07/2022 16:56

her using ways

"I've kissed every inch of that flat arse!"

i’m Anne with a hint of Julia (the stress/chaos side).

XXhausted · 30/07/2022 17:01

These comments have made me laugh.
I didn't actually know about the programme till my brother rang me one day last year and said "you're on telly" him and his wife had me down as a Julia. 🤣🤣🤣

Watched the whole thing on iplayer never laughed so much in my life.

Ginger1982 · 30/07/2022 17:07

I can't stand Julia. There's no need to be so woefully disorganised and a bit bitchy to boot.

ReluctantCourier · 30/07/2022 17:08

I love when Liz said all the food in her flat was frozen apart from the wine. I was a single mum for a while and that was an on point observation!

Friffle · 30/07/2022 17:09

I feel like the last episode in the third series wrapped things up nicely. I won't state what happens in case anyone is yet to watch series 3.

MeridianB · 30/07/2022 17:12

Love it and rewatch it often - it’s TV comfort food for mums.

My all time favourite episode was Meg going clubbing and throwing up just before taking a late night work conference call with Mexico. Then at home: “Alexa, play my New Year’s playlist…” So, so classic.

redhearts · 30/07/2022 17:17

There's a Christmas special as well. I didn't realise there was one until it popped up on telly and made my Christmas 2021!

Oblomov22 · 30/07/2022 17:24

I like Motherland. I can't stand Julia, she's so unorganised and actually not very nice. The way she treats people makes me cringe. None of the characters are very nice are they? Kevin or Amanda. All awful.

bubblesbubbles11 · 30/07/2022 17:26

motherland does not seem to be available on bbc iplayer at the moment? it says "not available" do you have to pay for britbox or something?

WildOnce · 30/07/2022 17:28

On my worst days Julia, my best days Meg and when I’ve really had enough and passed through the other side I’m Liz.

midsomermurderess · 30/07/2022 17:29

Julia’s character is awful. She is, as Liz noted, a complete user and half the time she’s in the mess she’s in because of her feckless husband who she enables in his lazy stupidity. I’m not sure I’d want to say I was lIke her.

Apparently I'm a Kevin!

What’s wrong with Kevin?! Apart from the swimming pool episode 😆

TheKeatingFive · 30/07/2022 17:33

I love how they've made Julia devoid of anything except self interest. I can see how she got there. 😆

All the characters are really well drawn, I love them all, but it wouldn't be the same without Amanda. She's a wonderful actress.

Someaddedsugar · 30/07/2022 17:33

Another Julia here according to the quiz, although I've been told I'm half Julia/half Liz which I would definitely agree with.

I'm gutted that it's not coming back for another series. It's the one programme that is guaranteed to make me laugh no matter what! Definitely my go-to comfort series.

reesewithoutaspoon · 30/07/2022 17:36

I wanted to enjoy it, but I cant. Julia just winds me up so much I have to switch it off

CheshireSplat · 30/07/2022 17:37

ODFOx · 30/07/2022 16:04

I used to be Meg, now slipped into Julia. Thank god the kids have almost all grown up so I don't have time to quite slide into Liz.

Anne is actually my favourite as she is so surprising: when she drops into conversation that she used to be Head of Finance at some multinational before being a Mum, or 'who hadn't imagined that curly head between their thighs?' The only time in my life Ihave actually spat my drink out, as I choked laughing!

Yes!!!! The curly head between the thighs comment was perfect. I cringed and laughed all at the same time. Hopefully she'll get her career back in time....

TheDuchessOfMN · 30/07/2022 17:37

I softened towards Julia when she got the nanny, and when she visited the (wrong) man in hospital and was telling him how tired and busy she is.

merryhouse · 30/07/2022 17:41

I'm a mix of Amanda and Liz😁though I really wish I could say Anne. OMG I would love to have Anne's life.

Julia annoyed me right from the start. She allowed a throwaway competitive-parent comment from Amanda to bounce her into announcing a birthday party she was completely unprepared for, with entirely predictable results.

UnimpeachableBravery · 30/07/2022 17:42

I just don't get it? My group of mum friends is nothing like any of it.
