DH is looking at Twitter and it's obviously about Prince William's alleged affair but can't figure out where it's coming from now all of a sudden. Anyone in the know?

  1. It has nothing to do with MM. All of the gossip sites online have been saying for years that PW has this arrangement in his marriage.
  2. The reason it came to light and has been tweeted widely yesterday is because DeuxMoi popped it on their Instagram stories yesterday and it took off from there.
  3. I don’t really care what is going on in their marriage - it’s on them. But I do think this story (and others) about the couple have been squashed and MM/PH stories fed to the press instead. This is what I don’t agree with.

But are you sure MM/PH stories are being fed to the Press? Why would anyone do that?

bollygu · 29/07/2022 10:44

Aparently Harry has constantly been thrown under the bus by The Firm allowing media access to stories (the Vegas drug fuelled pool party being one example) in return for PW being left alone.

I do believe in some of this because stories can be kept quiet if needed & there was such an avalanche of stories about H&M. I guess protecting the brand comes above all else.

Staynow · 29/07/2022 10:45

I read that apparently Kate was too 'old fashioned' to engage in pegging - but apparently not too old fashioned to be fine with W being pegged by her mate. It's all far too bizarre to be possibly true IMO and I say that as someone who has pegged her OH.

NiqueNique · 29/07/2022 10:45

Nah. There’ll be plenty of participation - loads of people out, just like there always are for anything like that.

bollygu · 29/07/2022 10:45

And I think the stories were disproportionate to their "crimes" when you factor in Andrew.

And currently nobody is talking about Andrew... No such thing as bad publicity is there 😂

What had that got to do with William? None of it makes sense.

bollygu · 29/07/2022 10:48

What happens to the monarchy after queenie goes is going to be very interesting to see

Yes, I think the whole thing is ridiculous & perpetuates the class obsession in this country. However I respect the Queen.

NiqueNique · 29/07/2022 10:48

Yes and the Rose story was absolute bollocks - the person who ‘broke’ that story has stated that himself. It was a drunken joke!

(Never mind the fact that Pippa has just named her daughter Rose. Would not have happened were it true).

I feel quite tainted now that I’ve even participated in this ridiculous discussion, tbh. Wonder what possessed me to get involved today!

bollygu · 29/07/2022 10:49

@MsBucket what do you mean?

Exactly, let’s talk about Andrew. But for some reason there clearly is a lot more commentary on William/Harry/Kate/Meghan etc.

deference to your rulers? 😆

I'm massively shocked this is still up

(I'll get my coat)

This is where it all falls down. Who did Kate confide in? I can't imagine telling my closest most trusted friend about my sex life, I really can't see someone in Kate's position airing this information.

I can believe that Kate is aware of extra marital affair/s and that she is unable or unwilling to walk away so is "accepting" of them - knowing the media shit storm that would follow.

NiqueNique · 29/07/2022 10:50

😆😆

balalake · 29/07/2022 10:50

I do think and agree that much of the respect and in some cases love for the Royal Family is for the Queen herself. Her death (I hope a few years away) will be the best boost to the cause of a republic there could be.

As for pegging, I'll stick to it being something you do to clothes on a washing line.

MsBucket · 29/07/2022 10:51

bollygu · 29/07/2022 10:49

@MsBucket what do you mean?

I meant why would William leak stories about his own brother in exchange for the Press to leave him alone? I’ confused as to why he’d do that?

vera99 · 29/07/2022 10:52

@Staynow I'm 61 I'm shocked !!! Good for you was it a bucket list box ticking one off if I may ask?

I remember watching the State Opening of Parliament where the Queen was apparently too unwell to attend and the crown same on a cushion in it's own car. The crowds were minimal and all the biguns Charles and William were on the gig. There were crowd barriers all along the route but hardly anybody was there - and the weather was good and got me thinking maybe after HM goes and there isn't an elaborate jamboree the gig is up.

bollygu · 29/07/2022 10:54

the cost of living crisis will hurt the institution though. The peasants may revolt!

TheKeatingFive · 29/07/2022 10:54

there was way more behind it than a Giles Core tweet. And he never refuted it, he just deleted the tweet.

JinglingHellsBells · 29/07/2022 07:26

Sadly , this is Twitter for you.

Some people like to spend their time creating stories and have an audience.

If you read the Tweets, look at the profiles of the posters, they are nobodies, with a handful of followers, who simply want to have a dig at the Royals and think Twitter is the way to do that.

Quite amusing to substitute the word Mumsnet for Twitter here... Grin

It's not William, it's The Firm. Protect the top tier of Royals at all cost, if that means throwing Harry under the bus then so be it.

The firm: turn a blind eye to William's shenanigans and we'll give you Harry on a plate. He's disposable, he's never going to be king. He's the wild child (and now he's painted as the ex royal with a grudge)

@PrunedLeaf Well she’s stuck either way isn’t she? If she stayed, people will still spread rumours and if she chooses to leave for whatever reason, there’ll be even more rumours.

People will always scrutinize the status of her marriage and what’s going on behind closed doors and snigger and comment and speculate and she can’t set the record straight and even if she did, would people believe her?

The “never complain, never explain” adage makes sense, but I can only wonder what it does to a person’s mental health to have all these random people making comments and acting like they’re experts in your life. Is there any wonder why Meghan and Harry have tried to opt out of that?

Ah, ok. That makes sense now. That does sound very toxic and dysfunctional. How does one separate that and live your day to day life? We have the monarchy but the royal family are still human beings too and I’m sure every family has its flaws and ups and downs without almost the whole world trying to look in. I’d hate to live like that where it’s all cloak and dagger. I just think it’s very unhealthy.

Here's Punch magazine at the turn of the century alluding to the proclivities of the then Duke of Cambridge and the famous 'chair'.
