Does anyone else think dragonflies are absolutely disgusting ?

They're like bird sized insects to me that make me want to gag. Is that just me or does anyone else hate them and see them this way ?

Where do you live that the dragonflies are as large as birds? Or that the birds are as tiny as dragonflies?

They eat other insects, don’t they? I’m all for anything that eats little buggers that bite me! Generally bugs don’t bother me, unless they are flying around my face. ill make an exception for ticks and head lice, mind.

However the scariest insect of all...literally covering my ears saying this and I feel like I need to hide so they don't find me...are flying ants

Those fuckers are vile, horrid, terrible things that belong in horror movies that should be banned.
I feel sick now

They're gross but they're not as huge.. I raise you a thick hairy moth with a massive body. Or a Massive hornet. They're just unbelievable.

I do think my worst nightmare of all time is a tarantula!

I always freak out when the tarantula falls on the burglars face in home alone. My worst nightmare, insect wise. I don't think I could even look at one in a cage thing.

Dragonflies are beautiful, however in Spain we came across some huge ones which did make me jump a bit .

now maybugs , not so keen on those they make a horrible noise

Their colours are just amazing!

Though I agree about tarantulas - I did DS a bug birthday cake with a plastic tarantula topper wearing a party hat & even though it wasn't real I still felt 🤢

FWIW, I think the largest fossil dragonfly (during times with a higher % oxygen in the atmosphere) had a wingspan of 30" (2.5 feet).

Oh! I love them I think they're beautiful! Was kayaking the other day and dragonflies dancing on the water was my favourite bit! Not a fan of silverfish... so I guess we all have our hang ups 🙂

we did a canoe trip on holiday in France - they were so beautiful - landing on us, sitting in the reeds - love them

Daddy long legs ming though - flappy little idiots - they get the towel of death

I don't mind killing insects. But I do draw the line at a dragonfly. They're just too big.

No I love them. I think daddy long legs are the only ones I'm really frightened of because they always seem to be flapping at my face. I'm hoping to attract some dragonflies to the garden so we can watch them.

I think they're beautiful, but I'm lucky enough not to be bothered by any insects really (although I do find stag beetles a little bit sinister).

Couple of fun facts for you OP; dragon flies eat mosquitoes and dragonfly larvae eat Mozi larvae; because they hover the helicopter wings were based on the anatomy of the dragonfly; snakes don't like them and will generally move out of their way.
I wouldn't describe dragonflies as beautiful but intriguing. Damselflies are stunning though with their iridescent colourings.

And to those who say they won’t hurt you - I know that. Ditto their ecological importance etc. But I still don’t like them.
