I've been working overtime today, exhausted, feel like shit.

My 3 year old had a plate of corned beef, cheese and sweetcorn for his tea.

Did I just win the award for most 'that'll do' tea?

He quite enjoyed it tbf! He asked for more.

Ready for today to be done 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

Have only come onto thread to say I have just added corned beef to my next shop because of it!!
Although I have gone for slices rather than a tin! I used to love a corned beef and pickle sandwich! Am quite excited to make one!

My mum used to make amazing corned beef hash or 'tater hash' as it was known as! With peas sprinkled on it and with slices of thick buttered white bread!
I may have to ask for the recipe!

To contribute my cba tea is chicken dippers and super noodles!! In my defence I have told the kids they are not very healthy and can't have them all the time! I do also do them with peas to try and balance things out 😝

Ready meal curry - 4 minutes in the microwave. Does it count? We've all got Covid and are trying to do things individually. I shouted instructions from the other side of the room ...

Cocopogo · 25/07/2022 21:34

DuarPorte · 25/07/2022 21:34

Massive day out in London today with 6 year old - barely made it back on time to pick up 2 yo from nursery.

brought them home. Dead on feet having walked all fucking day.

and served up…….

a bowl of hot CHIPS. With cheese, garlic mayo and some plums, sultanans and satsumas.

They survived it.

Suspect Splicebaked lives on the moon in a fancy dome and only eats dehydrated spaceman food. Corned beef can be found in my local waitrose on the deli counter, AND in the tinned section.

My mum made a thing with corned beef - cubes of corned beef, potatoes and onions all sauted together, loads of crispy bits and squishy bits and sometimes a handful of grated cheese chucked over and lots of ketchup.

She unfortunately, told me it was Corned Beef Hash. I lived in the north west. I can assure you that this was nothing LIKE what the parents of my school friends called Corned Beef Hash... :( (the horror, an ARFID kiddo expecting something familiar and safe and getting something TOTALLY alien... ugh!).

Our CBA tea tend to be.. pancakes with cheese. Cheese on toast. Bakey spud with cheese, and bacon flavouring (proper good stuff that, the Deliciou brand)... or what im having now.. cheese n onion toasties.

Cheese features pretty heavily in any of my CBA teas.

Packets of fridge raiders chicken pieces with potato waffles is another speciality.

Davethecat2000 · 25/07/2022 21:36

This was a 'Speciality de la maison beige' meal served up to DC's a couple of months back when I seriously couldn't be arsed.

Did I just win the award for most 'I can't be fucked' tea for my DC?
Banana7 · 25/07/2022 21:36

Baked beans and potato waffles are my personal low... They enjoyed it too 😊

knackeredagain · 25/07/2022 21:37

@WiddlinDiddlin thats what my corned beef hash is!! I’m also in NW. What on earth were your friends eating?

Oh I could so go in for a plate of corned beef hash now.

My two had cold tinned spaghetti tonight.

I would have heated it up, but they wanted it cold. My daughter toasted her bagel. I just spread the butter on it.

Nice and easy and went down well.

Can't speak about tinned spaghetti but cold baked beans are far better than hot!

Chocolatetrifle · 25/07/2022 21:39

I'm definitely cooking corned beef hash tomorrow now. I'm in North West too and that's what corned beef hash means to me @knackeredagain.

greenacrylicpaint · 25/07/2022 21:40

my dc (admittedly older) having cooking dinners as holiday project.
they go to the shops an everything.
apart from the odd burnt bit and a huge pile of dirty pots and pans thank fuck for the dishwasher

do I win?

inshskj · 25/07/2022 21:40

I love a lazy dinner. I did a lazy one yesterday. Fish fingers and pasta with literally just cheese on.

shinynewapple22 · 25/07/2022 21:44

TheThreeHeadedBeast · 25/07/2022 20:55

This has reminded me of my cannot be arsed dinner.

Sunshine dinner, grated carrot mixed with raisins as the sun, surrounded by grated cheese and cucumber sticks as the sun's rays.
I think they've forgotten about it now

But you made it into a picture for them! That's the opposite of CBA

userxx · 25/07/2022 21:47

I had a corned beef sandwich for tea.... proper northern.

Imissmoominmama · 25/07/2022 21:50

We used to do ‘junk tea’, which was southern fried chicken strips, croquette potatoes and tinned sweetcorn. We had it every other Saturday!

Sherrystrull · 25/07/2022 21:50

Corned beef sandwich with thick white bread, butter and HP sauce. Amazing.

If you all have covid surely you are fine to do things together?!

sallllladfiingers · 25/07/2022 21:51

I Love a corned beef sandwich with brown sauce Grin

Dixiechickonhols · 25/07/2022 21:53

Love corned beef. Corned beef ‘ash’ is spuds, onions, corned beef, gravy where I am in Lancashire.
Also love corned beef and tomato sandwich.
A caravan holiday tea when I was a child was corned beef, gravy, tinned potatoes and tinned peas.

Tablechairtable · 25/07/2022 21:55

Reminded me of the film East Is East where the mum tips a packet of biscuits onto a plate and shouts out "breakfast!" . Excellent.🤣

ShirleyJackson · 25/07/2022 21:59

When I was doing my PGCE I regularly had a bag of tortilla chips and a jar of salsa for tea, consumed in the bath.

ticktickticktickBOOM · 25/07/2022 21:59

NHS corned beef hash is absolutely delicious

This is just quite a normal quick dinner though isn’t it?!
