AIBU?

Not to want to see your your entire holiday on Facebook

Facebook 'Friend' who I get on well with is on holiday abroad. They just posted 75 holiday snaps on Facebook AIBU to think this is excessive. Incidentally they have dozens of random "Friends" so they've just told the world that the house is empty so please burgle it.

You don’t have to look, they might have a house sitter.

Just hide them

Snooze them for 30 days. Problem solved.

Aww are you jealous op?

Unless they've made it public I don't see the problem with this unless they're friends with burglars

AegonT · 23/07/2022 20:51

I don't think you should post till you're home for house burglary reasons but I LOVE looking through people's holiday photos on FB.

meh...their wall their choice, if you don't want to see then snooze them

I agree. Maybe a few token pictures to click through, but 75... if people on social media were actually looking through all of those pictures that would be strange. Some people think they are influencers and that people are glued to their every move lol

OP i know exactly what you mean.

nothing to do with jealousy and more to do with people being so self involved they think the world waits with baited breath to see what they’re up to.

the wife of a guy I know constantly posts pictures. I think their last holiday it was 400 pictures. A bit sad tbh.

Hide them then. It's easy.

My MIL send us 20+ pics a day on WhatsApp of their holiday. Then posts them on Instagram and Facebook.

THEN when they come home, FIL makes a special DVD which we have to sit through.

We've had a week in Athens, a weekend in Bognor and a cruise to sit through so far this year...

Oh god I agree OP. The people who do this kind of thing post the minutiae of their lives as though they think everyone else is interested in them. Ime they are often pretty insecure. A Facebook friend of mine posted over 60 photos of a local tourist attraction the other day. I didn't bother looking at them after the first couple because it's somewhere I'm interested in visiting and experiencing myself. I don't want to see someone else's photos of absolutely everything there is to see there! There's also a complete lack of self-awareness, that they could be spoiling it for someone else.

Just don't look at them... it's not hard really. You can even just hide her posts so she is still your "friend" but her posts won't appear on your feed. Then you can just look at her page when you choose to.

Facebook is used now just like photo albums of the past. I put loads of photos on and check in at places too, because I love it when they come up on my memories in later years. For example Yesterday photos and check in came up on my memories of when I went to see Pete tong and the heritage orchestra on a beautiful summer evening in 2018... loved being reminded of it and looking at the pics again .

First time I think I’ve recognized me and DH in a mumsnet post!

If it’s about a road trip and we’re currently in the Pyrenees then yep.

with views like that, we feel like sharing as some of our friends have not been here. Don’t like it, mute or just don’t click. Some of out families have asked us to share!

As for the empty house - it’s not empty plus it’s cctvd and alarmed to the hilt.

I also use mine Like a photo albums.

But that means one of 2 posts with a comment then 50 added to an album. People can ignore the album very easily.

Juicy!!

j actually like to see an album of pics, it’s a nice alternative to all the sponsored crap that’s on there

I enjoy holiday pictures I mean I might skip a few its nice to see where people are, and friend is wanting to share their experience, they might have an alarm at their house so not too worried. Honestly you can just scroll on.

I don't really mind so long as it's not loads of little johnny in the same spot where if you flick through them quickly enough it's like a video. Otherwise, I quite like looking through them.

I love posting photos on my FB page of lovely places I have visited and special times with family or friends. I pride myself on taking great photos, my phone camera is brilliant, and I pick them carefully and only post the best few. I think I only have people on my private FB account that would be interested and pleased to see them and if not I don't care if they scroll past.

But I do wonder why people put 45 shit photos of basically the same thing on their FB.

But I guess as with everything what is a good photo and what is a shit photo is in the eye of the beholder no?

And yes OP you sound jealous.

I do this too, I store all my favourite photos on facebook, so I can look back at them myself rather than for others.

If I'd started now I'd probably use google pics or amazon prime storage instead, but I started doing it on facebook years before those were available and can't be arsed changing over 16 years worth of photos now. I'm not forcing anyone to look.

Also, I only have people I like as friends on facebook, I enjoy looking at their photos.

I thought you were talking about me for a minute but then you mentioned the empty house.....I left my dh and kids at home!

Personally, I quite like holiday snaps, gives me ideas of places to go. I suppose you could always click 'unfollow' if you don't like to see people's pictures.
