Just being nosey really, I feel like most of the women on mumsnet are really big earners. I need help managing my money a bit better I think.

Geologist. Always loved rocks and fossils growing up. Now I work in something I love and I’m paid a lot, plus company shares and bonus. I do feel very lucky.

The disbelief and oh yea It’s all very know your place little woman. Don’t be telling folk you earn well. Don’t be seen to brag, nice women don’t brag. Be demure do your work quietly for fear of being being seen to brag and do not discuss salaries. I had an auntie she was very much of the opinion women shouldn’t discuss money.
I was first in my family to go to uni and I studied for a lengthy time to qualify and have to undertake CPD and maintain my registration

Knowledge management for a corporate law firm, just under 60k.

Business Ops in our firm is heavily female and many are earning really good salaries. Most are parents too.

HoobleDooble · 19/07/2022 18:17

Legal Accounts £14,500 for a 20 hour week so about £25350 if I was full time. DH earns just under £30k in a factory.

stuntbubbles · 19/07/2022 18:17

I absolutely believe women can have high salaries, I don’t think anyone here has said they can’t? But I also believe people online quite often make up bollocks. And if I had more money I’d probably be less inclined to howl into the void of Mumsnet

Pyewhacket · 19/07/2022 18:18

Nursing sister, Intensive care, £54

Copernico · 19/07/2022 18:19

I manage a tech support team, about £90k + bonus and stock. I work remotely in the UK for an American company, I’d probably earn closer to £65-70k if I were with a London tech co.

But none of these salaries are remotely unbelievable

and do tell - what on earth would be the point of making up a salary for the benefit of people you don’t know and will never meet

Head of Department in an independent school, 58k. I find these threads interesting as otherwise I'd have no idea!

YingMei · 19/07/2022 18:28

I'm an assessor. I earn 26k for 28 hours per week, think the FTE would be about £32. I used to be a teacher, most I got paid was 37k. I feel like a failure and an underachiever!

YnysMonCrone · 19/07/2022 18:29

I have two jobs, I work mornings as admin for a charitable trust at 11.50 an hour and hour, and work afternoons and some evenings as a freelance ESL tutor for 18euros an hour (that work is sometimes v busy, and sometimes dead quiet, so variable on how much I actually earn each month)

pixie5121 · 19/07/2022 18:31

Sorry of this is off topic, but why do so many people on this site use the phrase 'earn well'? It really grates and gets on my nerves. Surely 'earn' is a transitive verb requiring an object, so you can't 'earn well'. You can earn a lot of money or earn a good salary or you can be paid well (or well paid). What's with 'earns well'? I have never seen it used other than on MN.

pixie5121 · 19/07/2022 18:31
