Absolute bollocks money for the shit I have to put up with!!

Why don't you get another job where your role is better rewarded?

Royalbloo · 21/07/2022 19:33

After my Masters, £83.5k with car allowance, private health care and 20% potential bonus

Banana7 · 21/07/2022 19:34

What does that mean? I don't think I can picture what your job actually is. Just out of curiosity 😉

Royalbloo · 21/07/2022 19:36

Who is your message directed to Banana7

Banana7 · 21/07/2022 19:38

I'm glad to see you're expanding to green industries. I couldn't live with myself doing the sort of job that contributes so much to climate change...

Banana7 · 21/07/2022 19:40

Royabloo, not you. Sorry, not sure how I ended up at the end of the thread when I was thinking I was replying to someone else's message by typing "reply"... I'll try again😉

Banana7 · 21/07/2022 19:42

16k a year as a supply teacher working part time while my daughter is still of nursery age. I've got a Masters and a PGCE.

Clinical Research exec in Pharma £175k plus 20% bonus potential. It's a great, flexible career path for women who are interesting in sciences. I still do all the school pick-ups at 3 and work from home.

Any chance I could PM you about your path to this?

I’m in clinical research in NHS and wondering about future. And for the purpose of this thread- £39k if full time (I’m not)

lucifur · 21/07/2022 21:11

@Potatomashed of course. Moving into industry is MUCH more lucrative. If you have experience in clinical research it won't be that hard a move.

lucifur · 21/07/2022 21:11

Whoops name change fail but it's still me.

Royalbloo · 21/07/2022 21:47

Was on £595 a day but short term contract and very stressful

catfunk · 21/07/2022 23:59

I’m currently at work waiting for a report to download. I can do what I like as I own the business.

some people are quite successful, you do see those big houses, right?

That was meant to be a joke between me and another poster. There are people who most likely bullshit on here. Not saying that anyone who earns over a particular amount is lying, just that it happens and that's why I take everything I read with a pinch of salt on here.

Yes people are successful. I live in an area that is quite affluent, so I am well aware of this and they all seem to have their own business or are just lucky enough to have money in their family. I'm also aware that working for other people isn't particularly lucrative, so this is why I'm trying to start a business myself. I wish I knew this sooner!

Weirdlynormal · 25/07/2022 08:33

@Itdoesntreallymatter Yes business owners can def earn more. You still need an edge, but the risk can be rewarded.

I have often said I see what people earn. My highest earner is >£2m. My observation is that salaries go up crazily fast once you add LTIPS

I’m sure some people exaggerate, but I don’t think many make it up. Perhaps I believe them more easily as high earners are my experience. I think your pinch of salt might limit your ambition, beware.

Good luck with your business.

CashmereMutt · 25/07/2022 09:19

I think for the jobs people say they do they are paid what I’d expect. Maybe people don’t do those jobs, maybe it’s a fantasy world.
A word of warning on running your own business. Sometimes people fail to record the number of hourly they actually put into running a business - you rarely switch off and the costs involved and when all the costs are properly recorded, the benefit might not be a great as you thought given the risk you take.
