Wearing jeans in this weather

Why are people still not wearing summer clothes in this weather?
How hot does it need to be before people get their summer wear out?
If they go abroad would they pack winter wear.
Aren't they hot being overdressed in this weather.
Fgs get your summer clothing out. It's crazy.

Does anyone really have a full summer/winter wardrobe swap? I wear broadly the same things year round, apart from a few thick jumpers and dresses that get put away in the summer, and a few summery tops and shorts that get put away in winter. Almost everything else is layerable! Dresses with or without tights, vest tops and t shirts with a cardigan or jumper when chilly. Just me?

In response to OP: because they want to, or because they don’t have any other clothes.

My husband works abroad on oil rig in 40+ degrees day in day out in full PPE

When home he constantly has on jumpers and jeans

It's 30 degrees today and he is in jeans

Chakraleaf · 19/07/2022 12:12

My son wears long sleeve and jeans all year

Where has the op gone

Jeans and a t shirt is fine for the summer. No need for fake tan or sun cream on the legs apart from anything else.

My DH gets all fed up when he sees people in convertibles driving about with the roof up in the hot weather. 😂

Nice to get abit of sun on your legs. A tan looks nicer than pasty white.

I think OP is on the wind up. They won't be back ...

ClinkeyMonkey · 19/07/2022 12:19

🤣🤣🤣 Some timing that was!!

TalkingToMyselfAgain · 19/07/2022 12:19

I saw a woman wearing BOOTS yesterday!!

I love being 'pasty' actually.

Soubriquet · 19/07/2022 12:20

I don’t like having a tan. I would much rather have my normal pale skin. Even if it looks unhealthy to you.

ds has the same skin as me. Dd has her fathers Gypsy skin. (My dh is part Gypsy). They both tan as soon as they step outside

nca · 19/07/2022 12:21

I'm not that fond of skin cancer.

blebbleb · 19/07/2022 12:22

Can't say I really notice what anyone else is wearing or judge them.

onthefencesitter · 19/07/2022 12:22

I grew up in a tropical country (30 degrees plus everyday) and people do wear jeans. Lots of people do wear shorts but you can see that it is frustrating for people who love fashion to be restricted to 'summer clothing' all year round! Jeans are timeless, i suppose. I hardly ever wore trousers growing up, but if i did it would be a pair of jeans.

My dad wears long trousers everyday and he only wears shorts when he is exercising

dottypotter · 19/07/2022 12:23

I prefer Summer wear as its less washing all the winter wear takes up alot of room in the machine.

You see all sorts of shapes and sizes on the beach. People shouldn't worry what they look like. Nobody's really bothered about you anyway.

Bootothegoose · 19/07/2022 12:23

DH is half Jamaican. He went to work yesterday and today in a full stab vest and uniform.

He came home yesterday (and will do tonight) and put on joggers. He mowed the lawn in said joggers and walked the kids to the shops.

Different people are used to different climates/heats.

Don't sweat it (pardon the pun!)

Sparklingbrook · 19/07/2022 12:23

You do know that a 'tan' is basically sun damage don't you?

ClinkeyMonkey · 19/07/2022 12:23

A tan is NOT nicer than pasty white. It's a visible sign of sun damage. Nothing wrong with pale skin - or any skin. It's only there to hold your bones in😃

blebbleb · 19/07/2022 12:23

I also like being pasty! A red/leathery tan isn't particularly flattering.

ClinkeyMonkey · 19/07/2022 12:23

Crossposted there. Seems to be a theme for me today!

Sparklingbrook · 19/07/2022 12:24

There is no such thing as a healthy suntan. Any change in your natural skin color is a sign of skin damage.

LuckyAmy1986 · 19/07/2022 12:24

I like being pasty as well.

I don’t think the OP was on the wind up. I think they really thought they had a point but they were so small minded they now realise from the responses that there are many reasons people might be covered up.

I think they will now try and pass it off as a wind up so as not to look stupid!

Preeeettyprettygood · 19/07/2022 12:24

Yes :) i forgot to mention I also try and wear loose, cooler clothing on my legs. Fortunately with my steroid cream and the sun, it should help clear my legs up, I wish I didn't get down but when out and about I do try to dress comfortably

nca · 19/07/2022 12:25

There's a picture of me in Tenerife in July in 1986 mid afternoon and I have a cardigan on. There was a breeze. I was cold.

Is that ok with you op?

Preeeettyprettygood · 19/07/2022 12:26

Sorry that was to @notacooldad

As for the tan, I like to try a gradual or fake tan, but again due to my skin condition its not easy to do that.

OP is definitely on the wind up though.
