Wearing jeans in this weather

Why are people still not wearing summer clothes in this weather?
How hot does it need to be before people get their summer wear out?
If they go abroad would they pack winter wear.
Aren't they hot being overdressed in this weather.
Fgs get your summer clothing out. It's crazy.

I stopped being surprised what people wear after seeing people wear winter coats in the summer warmth.

Everyone has their reasons I guess.

Preeeettyprettygood · 19/07/2022 11:29

I suffer with bad psoriasis, mainly on my legs. At home I have been wearing shorts etc but if I go out you can get ill have jeans on because I am so self conscious of my legs.
I may occasionally where nude, barely there tights if I've managed to camouflage my psoriasis.

I shouldn't give a shit but I wish I had the confidence to go out in shorts

Stop judging!

notacooldad · 19/07/2022 11:29

I watched from my living room window yesterday some teens going home from school wearing the Rab/ north face style puffer jackets!

notacooldad · 19/07/2022 11:32

Preeeettyprettygood
I understand your reasons for wanting your legs covered but wouldnt wide leg linen or similar be cooler?
That's been my go to while it's so hot!

Sparklingbrook · 19/07/2022 11:34

Jeans and a t shirt is fine for the summer. No need for fake tan or sun cream on the legs apart from anything else.

My DH gets all fed up when he sees people in convertibles driving about with the roof up in the hot weather. 😂

butterflied · 19/07/2022 11:35

Fgs mind your own damn business.

nothingfound · 19/07/2022 11:35

Don't judge. I had jeans on earlier when shopping in Tesco because I'd been out in the fields walking through nettles and thistles. Cotton trousers don't cut it. Shorts are impossible. I changed when I got home.

Wordleturdle · 19/07/2022 11:35

Can't stand people like you op who judge without having a clue why they might want to wear jeans it really is none of your business. I don't like getting my legs out for various reasons. And I certainly don't want to get burnt the sun is dangerous you know.

Loics · 19/07/2022 11:35

You know, OP, I've actually been out and about a lot recently, apart from yesterday and today. I tried to think if most people I saw were wearing summer clothes or not, and I genuinely can't recall, it just doesn't register.

dottypotter · 19/07/2022 11:03

Totally agree, bonkers in this heat. You have summer clothes and winter clothes. Kids have summer uniform and winter uniform for school.

Must be so hot and smelly.

My children only have one uniform, no separate uniform for summer. They just don't wear their blazers and jumpers in the summer.

traintraveller · 19/07/2022 11:43

Bloody hell the number of threads started by smug folk wanting to tell us we are doing warm weather wrong. Is this the new covid? Thank fuck its only going to be for a couple of days.

QuizzlyBears · 19/07/2022 11:44

Literally has nothing to do with you what other people wear, not sure why you’re so bothered?! But to explain for you, my office has a dress code and the air con is set to 19 degrees. I’m wearing smart dark skinny jeans and a loose kimono top today and am perfectly comfortable, thanks for your concern 😂

easyday · 19/07/2022 11:44

My son has to wear jeans as that's part of his work uniform. Generally changes going to and fro as he cycles part of the way but if you saw him running errands during the day he'd be in them. My (late) husband would be in a suit and tie on a work day!
Don't be so judgy.

They're testing the Baked Alaska Hypothesis. Extreme insulation.

Veetavix · 19/07/2022 11:46

The Levi’s adverts are always in hot places.

cowboys wear jeans, don’t they?

KeyboardWarriorsUnite · 19/07/2022 11:48

I don't own clothes for these kinds of temperatures - the last time I was abroad in that kind of temperatures was over 25 years ago. I did experience one day at 28° two years ago. Then there is yesterday and today.

Nor do I own ski suits or similar, just in case we get a day or two of colder than expected weather.

Gigia · 19/07/2022 11:48

I can't imagine one reason why you should care what other people wear?! I've recently had both radiotherapy and chemotherapy and even in the boiling heat I am occasionally cold, you wouldn't know this to look at me and I would hate to think I am being judged!

nca · 19/07/2022 11:52

I run cold. I always have at least one more layer on than anyone else. I've always been like this.

Is that ok with you?

SlashBeef · 19/07/2022 11:53

Why on earth is this bothering you so much?!

spirit20 · 19/07/2022 11:53

In weather like this, I always cover my full arms and legs because I sunburn easily, regardless of how much factor 50 I put on. Yes, it's very warm, but I'd prefer that then sunburn.

SNAFU247 · 19/07/2022 11:54

In jeans, blouse and cardigan today. It's 37 degrees outside where I live....

BUT
I'm spending the day in an air conditioned office that is FREEZING! Made the mistake yesterday of wearing a dress and sandals to work and honestly had goosebumps all day here and was just not comfortable. Today I'm in more layers whilst I'm working and will be in an air conditioned car on the way to/from work.

Once home I'll be in a floaty dress. But for others on the school run this morning they may have wondered why I was dressed for a pleasant spring day!

GraceandMolly · 19/07/2022 11:55

Maybe they spend most of the day indoors with air con on?

Maybe they don’t like sun scorching their legs?
Maybe they don’t have anything else?

what a bizarre question.

fUNNYfACE36 · 19/07/2022 11:57

They dont want to get their legs out

Sartre · 19/07/2022 12:03

I lost over 4 stone this year and I haven’t got around to buying many new clothes yet so jeans and dungarees are pretty much all I own that fits aside from my running gear 🤷🏻‍♀️. Not everyone can afford a ‘summer wardrobe’, especially right now. Why on Earth does it bother you?

BiscoffSundae · 19/07/2022 12:06

I am overweight so not comfortable in dresses or showing my legs. I did see a woman in a coat today though wasn’t judging just wondered how hot she must have been.
