So she cancelled her Vegas thing 24hrs before. Tickets that would have cost thousands were not refunded. It was too late for many to cancel hotels, flights. They lost that money, and that annual leave time.

She never gave a clear explanation except ‘it wasn’t ready. Then total radio silence on when (if ever) it would actually happen.

Then she comes over and does an exclusive show for rich celebrities. The plebs can watch on TV though. Still now word when people who had Vegas tickets would be able to either use those tickets or get refunds.

Then at the weekend she did a gig at Hyde Park, that was simple, not flashy, and it was observed by commentators that this sort of stripped back simple staging would have been more than acceptable to anyone stuck out in Vegas so the tickets they couldn’t use - it’s clearly possible for her to perform that way, she’s seems to generally perform simply. That people wanted to hear her sing, and would not have cared it it was just her on a stage with a piano and a couple of backing singers (like it was in Hyde Park in fact). So really just poses more questions.

And now she has gone on the record to say how much she had to ‘grieve’ for the Vegas show, how hard she found it, and that it is 100% happening this year.

This year. When there’s been no reason recoups indication of this. So people that are still thousands of pounds out of pocket from January, and have no annual leave left to book another trip to Vegas, let alone afford that with such short notice. Looks like they are the ones that will be ‘grieving’.

I used to really love her music - now when she comes on the radio I can’t help but think ‘oh shut up you whiney twat, you have NO idea’.

Plus the fact that teenage rebellion is very 20th century, generated by a certain set of circumstances. There was no great generational divide for most of history and there doesn't have to be one now.

FYI Harry Styles cancelled his due to Covid in his team (same as Adele's delay), Lewis Capaldi cancelled his due to wanting to 'focus on making new album'.

All I can see online is Harry Styles cancelling a tour in April 2020 (don’t think we’ll hold that against him surely?) and Lewis Capaldi rescheduling a tour for later down the line (which is a bit shit). Neither just cancelled last minute for no good reason, no refunds, and no estimate on a reschedule. Plus, there has to be some acknowledgement that when you are playing in Vegas people would have travelled and paid for hotel rooms to see you.

Some of the thread might be misogynistic sure, but what Adele did with Vegas is the height of CF (significantly more than your neighbours using your Mexican holiday home without telling you).

I agree. I used to like her because she seemed down to earth and like someone you could go to the pub with, but she's been LA'd up to fuck these days. I heard that she doesn't like doing live performances and gets really anxious and nervous beforehand, in which case, the answer is don't book them in first place, not let your nerves get out of hand then cancel days before you're supposed to perform.

ExitChasedByABee · 03/07/2022 13:53

Just did a quick google to see who she is and I can see Adele is 34. I have heard of Taylor Swift, though not my cup of tea, and I just searched her age as well and I can’t believe she’s 32 😯 I thought Taylor was a teen all this time.

I don’t think early to mid-30s is that old, but I can understand that it can be tiresome to hear the same old thing over again 😂

LadyKenya · 03/07/2022 13:53

Over hyped, and has treated her fans poorly at times. I do not find her engaging, or her music particularly enjoyable.

I thought another poster said that you can get a refund or choose to hold on to the ticket in case of rescheduling etc.? Or is that not the case?

love the description of being mardy..always thought her lyrics were nauseating...all about me me me...
and her voice is whiney and the songs all sound the same...

flutterbybabycakes · 03/07/2022 13:31

She's just a professional cockney and not a great singer technically nor in any other way. Sounds like a cruise ship singer. People have forgotten what real talent is. The voices of the 90s singers were phenomenal but now it's all XFactor grade crap. I still listen to old stuff.

Adelle relies on her personality (which is two a penny down south London council estates) and perceived charm, plus the dire low standards of today's youth.

You cold have just said 'I look down on cockney south Londoners' and saved yourself the time

LondonJax · 03/07/2022 13:58

I've got no opinion of her as a person as I don't know her. I don't enjoy her music so I've got nothing to say there. But as a, so called, professional musician, everything thing she did around that LA concert showed no professionalism at all. To cancel because it's not 'good enough' (when it's her fault if it's not good enough - she has the power and the money to throw at it to get things done properly) has scant regard for your fans I think.

My parents were fortunate enough to see Judy Garland at the height of her fame, in the London Palladium. Mum said Judy had a sore throat and struggled with the high notes in Somewhere Over the Rainbow, which was one of the final songs. So she said something along the lines of 'the throat won't let me sing it - you sing it to me' and she sat on the edge of the stage swinging her legs in time to the music whilst the audience sang her most famous song to her. She joined in at the end.

She got a standing ovation that night. Because she understood that people had worked hard for those tickets, had travelled, had taken time off work and, sore throat or not, she was putting on a show for them (even if they did have to help her out).

My parents said it was one of the best shows they'd ever seen as Judy Garland showed them she knew her fans were important.

Adele, to my mind, showed her fans they're not. Good enough to throw their money at her but not good enough to adapt a show which she, presumably, didn't put enough work into in the first place (if it was as bad as she said it was).

YANBU. I've thought that she was a twat since she had a Titanic themed birthday party complete with lifejackets.

Blimey! Really!? Thats only a step away from a Belsen themed party with striped uniforms with a Star of David

Triple platinum album, 65,000 at her concert. She's just so unpopular and bad at what she does.

where did I say she was bad? I said she had unpopular traits because she’s human not a deity.

why the shitty tabloids still exist and why the papparazzi pursued Diana to her death

there should be a version of Godwins for invoking Diana 🙄

Judy Garland was a true star though. That is the difference.

alwaysontheloo · 03/07/2022 14:24

She gets on my tits. Stage school fame hungry kid who got what she wanted and then keeps taking these elongated breaks because she so delicate and must now shield herself from the general public whose adoration she worked so hard to get 🙄
The cynical part of me thinks it's more likely her and that other stage school kid Sheeran keep taking these breaks to elongate their careers and avoid over saturation.
Everything else about her behaviour makes this supposed fragility look like bullshit.

@LadyKenya - absolutely. Some of the current 'stars' could learn at lot from the old time ones.

LibrariesGiveUsPower · 03/07/2022 14:30

Easy On Me is just a screechy, whiny assault on my ears. It makes my brain hurt.

lol, slightly harsh. It’s incredibly bland though. Where have all the great songwriters gone? Nowadays all the so called Biggest Acts in the world are lucky if they can get three songs that people will stick give a shit about three decades down the line.

My sis went to one of her gigs. I'm too old to know much about her so asked me sis to sing one of her choons or hum one at least. Silence. The Beatles she ain't 😆

maddiemookins16mum · 03/07/2022 14:54

Cannae abide her and her whiney, oh poor me, songs.
I’d rather go to a Jane Macdonald gig that anything Adele churns out.

Yes, and this never made sense to me either. Fine- get rid of the swimming pool if you want but one of her most successful performances ever was at the Grammys when she did a very stripped down, solo performance with no props, dancers or anything except her and just a microphone so this idea that she couldnt possibly do that in Vegas is just a lame pathetic excuse. Its speculated that the real reason is that she was spending so much time with her new boyfriend and that she didnt have time to rehearse and they were arguing a lot

I mean... no. Not really. It's tasteless but it's really not comparable.

Lipsandlashes · 03/07/2022 15:09

I know quite a few people who went to see her in Hyde Park. Honestly, I’m amazed she is still so popular; after her behaviour over Vegas I wouldn’t pay a penny to see her.
