Surely if looking at porn in your work environment is enough to require you to resign as an MP, then this sort of conduct is certainly enough?

Cornettoninja · 30/06/2022 19:17

That's highly unlikely to be the explanation, otherwise Hancock would still be in post

Hancock offered his resignation he wasn’t fired. The difference here is stamina, BJ will wait out anything. He’s going to have to be crowbarred out of no. 10.

DowningStreetParty · 30/06/2022 19:28

Exactly Amaryllis. Boris sets a disgusting example.
Neil Parish former MP watching porn in the House of Commons didn’t resign immediately you will notice- Tory HQ must have told him to go because not long afterwards he was in the media saying he might stand as an independent candidate at his own by-election.
But regardless of whether Neil Parish jumped or was pushed, porn is one disgusting thing and it’s right there was a resignation.
Minister’s actual sex acts as witnessed in the office on the Parliamentary estate are several degrees grimmer than even that.

How the fuck are we supposed to encourage decent people (particularly women) into politics or to be voters when this sort of shit happens? And how is it tolerable that simply because Boris doesn’t want to leave as PM, despite creating scandal after scandal around himself, he just doesn’t go? Where is the actual backbone of the Conservative party? What on earth is going on at Tory HQ?

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 30/06/2022 19:48

Can you say 'girlfriend' these days?

Should it be person who 'identifies as girlfriend' or even 'friend who is currently identifying as a a non-boy person'?

Just asking...

Iflyaway · 30/06/2022 19:55

Absolutely agree footballers are paid an obscene amount of money too.....

Oops, sorry. Wrong thread.....

Wish I hadn't stumbled across this one though.....

I don't know about Starmer himself but there will have been politicians on the left that have engaged in sexual relations while at work, for absolute certain. Look at Kennedy. Look at Clinton.

American presidents from 60 and 20 years ago respectively? Is that the best you can manage?

Now I've got an image of BoJo's greasy pole in my brain 🤯🤮🤮

Oh I can imagine that it’s not only greasy but incredibly cheesy. He isn’t known for being particularly hygienic. BOBJ!

newnamethanks · 30/06/2022 20:54

£100k job at stake too. Still not enough though 😖

WaitroseWoman · 30/06/2022 21:40

Don't you think that the normalisation of this kind of thing contributes to a workplace where women are raped and sexually assaulted ?

Also adds to the danger, especially in places full of high profile positions, that employees are unprotected from coercion to fulfil sexual acts to achieve promotions and positions (as it appears Boris went on to try to do).

How the fuck are we supposed to encourage decent people (particularly women) into politics or to be voters when this sort of shit happens? And how is it tolerable that simply because Boris doesn’t want to leave as PM, despite creating scandal after scandal around himself, he just doesn’t go? Agreed. What is it saying to our daughters? And our sons? Is this what the expectation is of a woman in a workplace? BloJo knows what a woman is alright: for servicing him.

3amAndImStillAwake · 30/06/2022 22:01

If your on an unpaid break it your time to do as you please with

Where do you work that you can have sex in the workplace and defend it by saying "it's ok, I'm on a break"??

newnamethanks · 30/06/2022 22:08

We should just replace Lindsay Hoyle with Jeremy Kyle and start charging admission to PMQs. I haven't heard "we was on a break" for a while. Should fit in perfectly.

A director and a head of media were caught twice - he had a pane of glass put in his door as punishment…

Really? Having sex, drinking, taking drugs and various other things on work premises were sackable offences where I worked.
And rightly so.

Florenz · 30/06/2022 22:48

I bet John Major and Edwina Currie were no better.

Notonthestairs · 30/06/2022 23:00

Other people might have done it too is a fairly desperate argument. But I guess if you want to defend him you'll have to scrabble around for something.

Florenz · 30/06/2022 22:48

I'd stop digging if I were you. You're embarrassing yourself.

Florenz · 30/06/2022 23:14

It's worrying that Labour have no better ideas as far as political policies and they are resorting to salaciousness to try and get Boris out. The people that are going mad about this never would have voted for Boris in the first place. Politicians on both sides have always philandered. Nobody really cares. If Labour want to get back in power they are going to have to come up with policies that people agree with and believe that Labour would actually enact. And politicians that people like and can identify with.

RippleQueen · 30/06/2022 23:51

Stop making excuses, all politicians are not 5he same,

ddl1 · 01/07/2022 00:16

This is reminding me of the Clinton Impeachment! Anyway: quite improper behaviour, but compared with some of the other things BJ (what unfortunate initials under the circumstances!) has done, i can't get that worked up about it.

tobee · 01/07/2022 01:46

I don't think the Labour Party are having to resort to anything. It's all coming out from the Tories incontinently. And the fact that John Major or whoever (of anyone party) you like got up to whatever doesn't negate this. Only a desperate person would think so.

Nat6999 · 01/07/2022 02:16

Watch the news over the next month, rumours are going round political parties that there will be a snap election called within the next month, parties are preparing now. Ds is involved with the Green Party & this has come from the top.
