To wonder if no one on Mumsnet believes that trans women are women?

I’ve been lurking on the site for months, enjoying AIBU and laughing at some of the posts.

But yesterday I commented on a topic regarding the language around trans women, and the views expressed were very extreme.

Is there anyone at all on Mumsnet who, like me, did not realise how anti-trans this site is? Does anyone believe, unreservedly, that trans women are women?

YABU - trans women are not women.
YANBU - I support trans rights

Honestly this is worse than debating with flat earthers or anti vaxx conspiracy theorists.

So disgusted and saddened by the views on Mumsnet. Over 1000 votes and 80% don’t believe trans women are women. I really hope none of you have children who are trans.

And to all the people saying “this vote is rubbish” - if you deny trans women their identity then you don’t support trans rights. Incredibly simple.

If I have a child who is trans I will teach them that they have the perfect right to live the way they like, however they like, as long as it is not to the detriment of any one else. ( actually, I would teach any child, trans or not, exactly the same). But this does not give them the right to delete or negate the rights of others.

Oh well.

Im not denying biological reality/scientific fact for them. I'm not denying other people their rights so that they can perpetuate a fantasy.

And neither should anyone frankly.

Otherwise, of course they should be free to live as they like, just not impinging on the sex based rights of others.

Of course we don’t think any men are women. All rational thinking people know trans women are men.

The only thing that makes us women is being born female and attaining adulthood. THAT. IS. ALL.. Womanhood is not a feeling, a projection, a fetish, a ‘gender identity’, a collection of stereotypes or anything else a man decides it might be to benefit him

You're incredibly simple. You are the one denying transwomen their identity by insisting they are women, when they are not. Shame on you, bigot!!

And mumsnet put that gap in the words. TW should have been one word. Or preferably a different acronym which denotes the actual sex.

I'd bet most trans women are aware they are trans women and not biological women unless they are delusion I'd bet they are not.

Countless pp's have agreed that trans people deserve the peace and love to live their lives without interference from others.

Biological women deserve the same.

And op, I’m not an elite athlete but I have friends who are of both sexes. No male belongs in the female category,
I also know several males in prison for violent and sexual crimes: No matter how they may decide to identify at any point, they are male, always will be and belong in the male prison. And guess what - they can deal with the male violence, not the other poor vulnerable females locked up in female prisons.

I'm sure if we did we would all be rushing to medicalise them, block their puberty with drugs of which the long term implications are unknown, tell them they are in the wrong body, and send them to a surgeon to amputate healthy body parts leaving them with lifelong complications and interventions that did not ultimately alter their dysphoria.

Of my ds decides to,identify as a woman and become a trans woman I'll fully support his decision.

I will be explaining to him though about how he should not be using single sex female segregated spaces - especially those for vulnerable woman - because as a female sex person I have that experience and don't agree with it.

I won't support him to oppress woman's rights but I will support him with his.
