No I don’t, they should be able to have abortions in those cases. My issue is that those cases are so rare, a tiny percentage of the total number taking place. Same for ectopic pregnancies, severe disabilities, etc
I thought all life was sacred? Why abort the babies of abusers or rapists? If it's about the baby, surely they haven't done anything to deserve being aborted? Not their fault their father is an abuser, is it?
A tiny percentage? A quick google has just told me that in the UK, 1 in 90 pregnancies is ectopic. And a quick google again states that in 2018 there were over 700,000 live births in 2018. So that's not an insignificant number of ectopics, is it?
Another google tells me that there were over 67,000 thousand reported rapes in the year ending December 2021 and that only 1 in 100 rapes are reported. So that's over half a million rapes a year?
You might want to read this on the number of rapes that result in pregnancy in the USA: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/8765248/
A quote ' rape-related pregnancy occurs with signficiant frequency'. Again, a quick google gave me that.
Abortions as a result of disability are relatively low in comparison to the total number of abortions. But the majority are carried on the basis of 'significant harm to the physical or mental health of the mother'. If you are prepared to allow a woman who has been raped to have an abortion, why is their mental health more important any any other woman's mental health? Do you not see that a mother's mental health is important in managing to bring a baby to full term and and beyond?
