To wear shorts to the office?

Does it look unprofessional? I’m not really a dress/skirt kind of person.

I work in a corporate environment - but people do wear trainers, T-shirts etc

To wear shorts to the office?

SHORTS!

summermornings · 20/06/2022 22:49

Wear them but make sure to tell everyone they are elasticated cotton and not Lycra. Because that’s what will they will be wondering when you walk in wearing that, what the fabric is? 🙄

I mean that’s a photo I found on Pinterest to illustrate the length of shorts, style of outfit im
referring to.

The first photo and the link are entirely different. The first are cycle shorts. The others are closer to the mark but still too short. Rule of thumb if you wouldn't wear a skirt that length or tightness then the same applies to shirts.

Again what link? I’m so confused

Too casual

Cycling shorts? Hell no. No one needs to see camel toe in the office.

HAHA!!

As others have said, big no to cycling shorts but I agree with tailored or linen knee length shorts

CuppaTeaAndSammich · 20/06/2022 23:04

3/4 length linen culottes would be nice and cool to wear also and they look smart but trendy!

BouncyBalls · 20/06/2022 23:06

No shorts are not appropriate for the office. Skirt?

That outfit is not at all suited to an office. I wouldn't expect a colleague to dress like that, maybe an intern who doesn't know the rules yet and is obsessed with Insta influencers, but in that case is expect someone to have a word.

Jellybean27 · 20/06/2022 23:10

@hellomynameisshark Out here on my own then, the outfit is a yes from me 🤷🏻‍♀️

Luredbyapomegranate · 20/06/2022 23:10

No, no one needs to see 🐪 toe, or the outline of your ‘area’. What are you thinking?!

Properly tailored shorts if people also wear skirts at the same length are ok I suppose.

Incywincyspi · 20/06/2022 23:11

Absolutely not. Awful outfit at the best of times. You’d be given a warning at our office if you came in like that

No shorts or flip flops allowed at my work under any circumstances - not even on dress down days

WishILivedInThrushGreen · 20/06/2022 23:23

The shorts are unprofessional.

Most men will ogle your cellulite from the rear, even though they're not allowed to and every woman will look at your rear even though they're not supposed to but your rear will be jiggling and your wibbly arse will be very wibbly despite only being a size 4.

Other than that it looks ok.

TrashyPanda · 20/06/2022 23:24

Those shorts are really unprofessional.

If it helps op, shorts, swimwear, and flip flops are generally frowned upon in corporate environments. When you find yourself going there, you know you have got it wrong.

even thinking this would be appropriate makes me think you are young, a little clueless and over invested in Instagram. Am I close? 🤣

biddibom · 20/06/2022 23:36

those shorts will give you a stinky foof in the office! It’s a professional environment not a festival
