Fina bars transgender swimmers from women's elite events if they went through male puberty www.bbc.co.uk/sport/swimming/61853450

And I’ve not realised till just this very evening how anti trans Mumsnet actually is. I’ve had my eyes truly opened!

I think you might mean pro women. Intersectional feminists often find it quite jarring when they encounter the type of feminists who prioritise the needs and concerns of women.

Peregrina · 23/06/2022 22:36

I don’t see why there needed to be such fury over this but I guess being on the internet does bring out the rage! I wonder what any of you would have done if you’d met someone like me in the pub

If you were a sportswoman who had lost a medal place and possibly a scholarship to a 'Woman' who used to compete as a man, it would be surprising if you weren't furious. Particularly if you were one of the women who had to share a dressing room with Lia Thomas, but weren't allowed to speak out because of the cry of transphobe.

What if we met you in the pub. I think we would find as now, that your arguments don't stand up so you resort to 'transphobe' and 'cis'.

If you personally think that transwomen are women it's up to you, but I don't - biological sex i.e. male or female is what matters.

Like a poster a few threads back, I think that once the sporting bodies start to take a proper stance and say that those who went through male puberty cannot enter women's sport, then yes, a good few men will decide that they won't be following Emily Bridges or Lia Thomas.

ReneBumsWombats · 23/06/2022 22:27

And if a trans person says they are a woman, I believe they are a woman

Well, I say I am Ming the Merciless. Also that we are all right in this ridiculous "discussion" and you don't know how being a woman works.

So what do you believe now?

I believe that Ming the Merciless has truly lived up to her name.

I am a pregnant 34 year old woman and I don’t know how being a woman works?

You hurt me Ming! 😟

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 23/06/2022 22:37

I would never refer to a trans person as ‘getting their knob out’. It makes me cringe, it sounds transphobic and derogatory. That was really all I was expressing!

and this is part of the problem

that person was wandering round the changing room with an erection

its fair to comment on that, saying that is not transphobic or derogatory its a fact…and to be fair thomas obviously has no issue whatsoever in doing that

most men i know would be mortified if they had an erection at the wrong place or time, they would go to great lengths not to show it…not thomas though and i think that says something

ReneBumsWombats · 23/06/2022 22:38

if a trans person says they are a woman, I believe they are a woman and will respect them as such. And if they expose their penis to me in a changing room I will report them to the police,

Why would you report a woman getting undressed in a women's changing room?

FemmeNatal · 23/06/2022 22:38

StolenCookie · 23/06/2022 22:14

Hang on though. Someone up thread literally said they come to Mumsnet to get away from the ‘trans women are women’ nonsense.

Calling that website ‘anti trans’ feels like a fact rather than an insult.. do you really disagree?

You are saying it’s transphobic to disagree that “TWAW”?

Again, you must be using a very strange definition of “women” to feel that.

What do you mean by “woman”?

FemmeNatal · 23/06/2022 22:40

StolenCookie · 23/06/2022 22:24

I believe people can identify how they wish.

You all told me you are most definitely not ‘cis women’, you are women - so that is what I shall refer to you as tonight in my diary! I will write about how I made a lot of new women friends on the internet tonight 😀

And if a trans person says they are a woman, I believe they are a woman and will respect them as such. And if they expose their penis to me in a changing room I will report them to the police, whilst still retaining my respect for the trans community as a whole and not calling them a “laddy”!

Do you also believe that Rachel Dolezal is black?

If not, why the double standards?

TheKeatingFive · 23/06/2022 22:41

if a trans person says they are a woman, I believe they are a woman and will respect them as such.

Why would you believe something that's biologically not true?

TheKeatingFive · 23/06/2022 22:43

Do you also believe that Rachel Dolezal is black?

Quite. I'll never understand why the double standards here aren't talked about more.

They’re not ‘resorts’ though. I do think a lot of what I’ve read here is transphobic. I’m not resorting to slinging mud, I call it as I see it!

And I’ve already said that if ‘cis’ is considered offensive then I shan’t use it. This is what makes me think people just want to fight, not actually discuss anything!

You don’t even seem to know what a woman is.

Do you at least understand what male and female means? Most TRAs don’t know that either, none of you seem very well educated for some reason.

ReneBumsWombats · 23/06/2022 22:45

Hurry up, Cookies, I'm going to bed soon.

The problem is the continued insistence that I have no issue with the behaviour. I never commented on the behaviour! It was the language. We can denounce behaviour without using problematic language regarding a whole group of people.

FOJN · 23/06/2022 22:47

Taking issue with a female penis? How very transphobic of you. Are you a genital fetishist? You should stop looking at other people's genitals you pervert.

You really have no idea how this game is played do you?

ReneBumsWombats · 23/06/2022 22:48

We can denounce behaviour without using problematic language regarding a whole group of people.

It wasn't regarding a whole group of people, it was regarding one specific knob. Unless you are suggesting that all trans people get their knobs and fanjos out in changing rooms of the opposite sex.

So. Why would you report a woman getting undressed in a women's changing room?

When I said ‘expose’ I meant in terms of ‘indecent exposure’, not just removing your clothes to get changed!

I think you knew what I meant but typical you being a little rascal 😉

ReneBumsWombats · 23/06/2022 22:51

What constitutes indecent exposure in a women's changing room?

I've seen a lot of vulvas in changing rooms. I've had my own exposed as well. Should we be reported?

CaliforniaDrumming · 23/06/2022 22:51

Ok, so what I am getting from your rather muddled posts is that you think TW should be allowed to undress in women's changing rooms, and if their tackle escapes on the odd occasion, you won't report them, only if they parade it about like Thomas.

Conflictedunicorn · 23/06/2022 22:52

So would you have defended Lias teammates if they had phoned the police? Or told them to suck it up Lia had just as much right to be there as they did? @StolenCookie as an ardent feminist, who was right?

StolenCookie · 23/06/2022 22:53

What I'm getting is that Cookies knows she is talking risible, illogical nonsense, but she thinks that as long as she keeps talking more of it, it'll somehow be LESS embarrassing.

If Lia had actually exposed their erect penis to women with the intention of harassing them, yes, absolutely I would have supported the women in reporting it!

I truly don’t understand what point people actually think I’ve been trying to make up to now……

CaliforniaDrumming · 23/06/2022 22:56

Ok, good. That's clear. You are an intersectional feminist who believes TWAW and should be allowed in female only spaces. You will definitely think many ( or most) women on MN are transphobic then.

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 23/06/2022 22:56

oh goodness

no one used the K word in respect of all transwomen, just one that seems particularly proud of theirs

the only ‘problematic’ word was ‘laddy’ about eleventy billion posts ago!

and that you could have reported!
