How demoralising that none of us are even surprised.

noblegiraffe · 19/06/2022 12:57

But sadly Labour and Libs are a bunch of tosspots

Is that not preferable to actively corrupt?

Notonthestairs · 19/06/2022 12:57

Small point and I guess rendered meaningless given our current PM and cabinet but intimate relationships between Ministers and their advisers is a breach of Ministerial Code - they are supposed to act properly and appropriately.

I am not a lawyer but if there was a superinjunction how did it get into print at all? The New European has it and I'd be very surprised if media based outside the UK didn't run with it.

I really don’t think there is. The same claim has already been printed in a book that’s had no legal action taken against it.

SpiderinaWingMirror · 19/06/2022 12:59

Superinjunction? Why the heck would he bother. He is still there despite all the stuff that anyone with any moral compass would have resigned for.

Cornettoninja · 19/06/2022 12:59

But sadly Labour and Libs are a bunch of tosspots - there's no one to vote for

Not good enough.

Tosspot vs pseudo dictator? Hmmm what possibly could be the benefit of voting for a tosspot?

JustTheOneSwan · 19/06/2022 13:01

How much does a Super injunction cost anyway?
And is the penalty for breaking it purely financial or criminal?

Hawkins001 · 19/06/2022 13:01

picklemewalnuts · 19/06/2022 11:58

He's the most unethical man imaginable, based purely on his private life.

How anyone voted for him, I can't imagine. Any questions yesterday was farcical about it. Someone claimed he was ethical because he delivered Brexit as he promised. Madness.

This is just a guess, if all the world leaders followed a Machiavellian style philosophy, what good would it so us, if our prime minister, followed the bible ? How would be stand a chance of others would use Machiavelli tactics ect ?

ZenNudist · 19/06/2022 13:02

He is a disgusting man. The absolute low point in UK prime ministers and that's saying something!!!

Hawkins001 · 19/06/2022 13:03

do, we, *if,

I'm always amazed the GuppyGate-scandal where Boris Johnson was recorded secretly discussing helping an old Etonian friend to have a journalist beaten up doesn't keep cropping up. It's easy to look up and I can't believe anyone can listen to the recording and still think that Boris Johnson is a person fit to be prime minister. It's really outrageous.

This is what's on Wikipedia about it
"Scandal erupted in June 1995 when a recording of a 1990 telephone conversation between Johnson and his friend Darius Guppy was made public. In the conversation, Guppy said that his criminal activities involving insurance fraud were being investigated by News of the Worldd^ journalist Stuart Collier, and he asked Johnson to provide him with Collier's private address, seeking to have the latter beaten to the extent of "a couple of black eyes and a cracked rib or something like that". Johnson agreed to supply the information, although he expressed concern that he would be associated with the attack. When the phone conversation was published in 1995, Johnson stated that ultimately he had not obliged Guppy's request. Hastings reprimanded Johnson but did not dismiss him."

"The cost of super injunctions (£20,000-£50,000 if bitterly contested)"

Promoting your mistress has feck all to do with Machiavelli or the Bible. There should be some basic standards of recruitment especially when public money is involved.

Happy birthday and a very happy Father's Day to Mr Johnson. Presume he is far too busy celebrating with all his children, who respect and adore him, today to pay attention to any of this nonsense.

For the avoidance of doubt; the man's a lying bag of lies.

I'm sure he's enjoying his 100s of Father's Day cards.

Clavinova · 19/06/2022 13:05

She had to quit that £80K job amid claims she'd been fiddling her expenses...

According to some sources but not according to Carrie Symonds/Johnson and friends.

This implies it's fine to move your current lover in to any tax payer funded job

Not at all - I was just pointing out that Carrie Symonds was already earning a high paying salary as director of communications and probably qualified for the new job. I think the op was implying she was an admin assistant or similar.

Cheesecakeandwineinasuitcase · 19/06/2022 13:05

It’s all over Twitter and has been retweeted thousands of times. The public has a right to know. It’s no wonder he’s had two Ethics advisors resign from his Government. He is a national embarrassment.

Just because you agree to go along with x, does not mean he intended to follow through on the promise, and boris could of been leading the friend on.

There is literally nothing defensible about handing your lover a job. It's a breach of the Ministerial code and normal recruitment practice.

It was in context to a poster questioning his ethics and morals in general, I was using the comparison of other world leaders, if they followed Machiavelli philosophy, and boris was a saint and followed the bible, then when going to negotiations ect with other countries how can Boris do better for the uk, ?

PermanentTemporary · 19/06/2022 13:09

Fascinating story. And even more fascinating that it was abruptly pulled.

He was an appalling Foreign Secretary. He never read anything, never knew anything. His best phase as Prime Minister was the 6 months when they were all covering up for him that he was recovering after being in ICU. He can read out a statement prepared by someone else about a policy he has never looked at quite well - if only that had continued. He has destroyed the Cabinet by filling it with people who make him look more intelligent. He's completely corrupt, immoral and profligate in every way. It is incredible to me that anyone can vote for the party that elected him to lead, and has just confirmed that they think he's fine.

WaitroseWoman · 19/06/2022 13:09

I had heard that there was something about this immoral pair on the way. This isn't new, so maybe this was it or maybe there is something else on the way.

He did a poor job as London Mayor

YouGov 2016
As London awaits the results for who will be Boris Johnson's successor, new YouGov research reveals the public verdict on his eight years as London Mayor.
His approval rating has been remarkably consistent during his second term as Mayor, since 2012, and has been drastically higher than most national politicians' throughout. In hindsight, the majority of Londoners (52%) say he has done a good job, while 29% say he hasn't performed well.

noblegiraffe · 19/06/2022 13:09

if they followed Machiavelli philosophy, and boris was a saint and followed the bible

Those aren't the only two options though, are they?
